Summary: Very Disappointing
Review: I have used McAfee antivirus products for years on multiple computers, but this newest product and the technical "support" is truly disappointing. Installing MIS6.0 resulted in several problems, including blockage of all email access, blocked access to most websites, fatal crashes of unrelated programs, and more. The VirusScan8 component was never able to run.

With the free on-line chat tech help (with overseas techs, it seems), program patch downloads were provided that appeared to fix the bugs causing the email and website problems. But, the other problems were either never addressed or were not corrected after following long, tedious, very technical instructions that the techs were always "absolutely sure" would "fix your problem." (This was especially infuriating.) Way too many long hours over several days were spent on this. Also, even though I used their case number system for chat access, which assured me the techs would know all of the chat/case history, I always had to re-explain everything each time. Finally, a request for a refund made McAfee very unavailable. The product is non-functional and I don't expect to see any refund.

A bit of Net research reveals that a great many people are having similar very serious problems with this product. While it seems to work okay for some, the number of problem reports is truly alarming. Among the components, only the Firewall5.0 seemed to be fully functional and do its job admirably. VirusScan8.0 and the Personal Privacy Service seemed to be the sources of the really serious bugs. If you like McAfee, I'd recommend staying with a VirusScan of Version7 or lower until things improve (if they ever do). There are lots of good alternatives for the Privacy stuff, many of them free. And, I believe that spam filter programs are a waste of time and money, even if they work. (There are better alternatives. I've been spam-free for a year without any filter programs.)

When my current McAfee AV subscription expires, I plan to switch to another product.

Summary: McAfee gets the job done
Review: I just recently ordered this product to update my existing version of McAfee and am pleased with it. I have only used McAfee VirusScan and would not use anything but McAfee. Previous reviewers have stated that this product is "terrible" and "junk," but I disagree. The internet has become a dangerous place with the threats of hackers "breaking" into your computer and stealing your identity. McAfee first started out with the Firewall, which is included in this Internet Security bundle. A firewall basically stops a hacker from breaking into your computer; it puts a wall around your computer so that nobody can hack into your system, except you with the password you set up to access your own computer. This is certainly a "must" to have to keep your computer safe and clean from hackers and other threats that could corrupt and damage your system.

McAfee is a worthwhile product to purchase and I would recommend it over Norton AntiVirus. Norton is a VERY good product and it also gets the job done like McAfee, but I feel that McAfee offers more service than Norton. I know of some people who have purchased Norton and later want McAfee after hearing about the firewall that comes with McAfee...later, Norton issued their own Firewall service to compete with McAfee.

In essence, I would recommend McAfee Internet Security 6.0 because you can't beat the price offered here on Amazon.com and plus, you get all the latest security technology available on the market. Good luck and keep safe with McAfee.

Summary: This is a terrible product
Review: As a long-time Norton user I purchased this product as it was inexpensive versus a Norton upgrade. I deleted my Norton Internet Security and attempted to install McAfee Internet Security 6.0. All the McAfee programs loaded EXCEPT for VIRUSSCAN which is a vital component of this suite. I attempted over and over again to get VirusScan to load...I finally gave up and uninstalled the suite utilizing the uninstall option on the cd. Unfortunately, I could find no way to delete the "Security Center"....I now have Norton loaded and my McAfee "Security Center" tells me that my Norton Antivirus is providing maximum protection. THANK YOU NORTON...I have learned my lesson... Pay the price..use Norton. You will be happier...

Summary: Totally Disappointed
Review: I upgraded from viruscan pro 7 to this and it was nothing but headaches for me. I did clean installs several times as per technical support but privacy service and spam killer would slow my system to a crawl then I'd watch my cpu temps climb as it just sat there and got slower and slower. I can't reccomend this product.. and I was always a big fan of Mcafee. looks like I'm going back to my old version until they get some issues resolved. The forums on their site are bubbling with complaints

Summary: Mcafee is fine
Review: Mcafee is a good antivirus product. I bought it and installed it on windows xp professional. I had a little problem registering but it was easy to fix by using the free online chat support. Updating was easy and everything is working fine so far. The only flaw is the Privacy Service. It blocked many internet windows that were supposed to open. Norton Personal Firewall's ad blocker was much better. Since I installed Mcafee, my computer's speed tripled and it seems incredibly fast. With Norton Antivirus and Firewall 2003, I had to disable them to play games. Norton and Mcafee are about as good but I like Mcafee better because it lags alot less.

Summary: JUNK
Review: Using WinXP Pro, It causes the system to lock up or slow way down. Too many bugs to list. Goto http://forums.mcafeehelp.com/index.php?c=5 and read about all the "features".
LIVE Tech Support $2.95/Min or $39.95 per incident.
Previous user of Norton Internet Security 2003, not as many features, but without the numerous problems.

Summary: All in one a plus
Review: This is a great product. It beat nortons 2003 internet security. ease of use is great and the internet privacy works okay but needs some improvement compared to spybot and ad-aware 6.0. But overal for the value it's good all in one package with virus scan 8.0. This is a good value and requires some input for the fire wall to configure it. Worth checking this software out.

Summary: Trash
Review: - Locks up system.
- Security Center is nothing more than a marketing tool to try to get you to buy more software.
- Buggy integration with IE.
- Cannot view blocked e-mails in e-mail program. Even at lowest setting it incorrectly identifies too many e-mails as spam.

Summary: Garbage
Review: - Caused my system to lock up frequently.
- Security Center is nothing more than a tool to try to get you to buy more software.
- Internet Explorer integration is buggy.

Summary: More bugs than a picnic
Review: I've been using this product for 24 hours and am ready to disable several features. Spamkiller crashes all the time, in the process disabling my ability to send and receive mail until I reboot and it removes all photos from emails it allow through, while the popup blocker in the privacy service blocks my ability to log into my web-based accounts. In general, the product significantly slows my PC performance, including web browsing.
