Summary: Oops, we forgot to mention...
Review: After you read all the reviews and read the site info, you think that this is a can't miss product. Well it all started out when I purchased this product straight from the publisher... After completing the checkout, I realized that I didn't get asked about shipping. A few minutes later I received and email with a link telling me where I could download this software. The bundle is an 11Mb file.

After downloading the software and installing it....oh wait, it doesn't install. This product doesn't work with Windows XP Home edition. You only find that out after some careful reading on LaGarde's website under product support. You would think that this is something that you might want to know before you get this far.

It just so happened that I had a copy of XP Pro as well. So I tried to install in under XP Pro. Nope....same errors. I used LaGarde's online chat technical support. Their advice was to go out and get the web extension from Microsoft for FrontPage. Did that and installed them. Still can't install StoreFront. At this point I sent an email asking for a refund under their 30 day money back guarantee. I am still waiting for my refund.

Summary: Hard to implement, poor support, give this a miss...
Review: I bought StoreFront 6.0 directly from LaGarde. I found it difficult to implement. Support staff were largely inexperienced. They could never get the e-mail confirmation feature to work. Some of our customer orders would get "lost" between PayPal and the StoreFront software. Quantities can not be changed (we sell some products by the kilogram, others by the dozen). The list of states is not connected to pull-down list of countries, so U.K. customers need to search through all the U.S. states and Canadian provinces to find their U.K. county. I have requested a refund under their 30 day "no excuses" guarantee and am still waiting. I recommend Actinic e-commerce software instead: I had our store up and running with Actinic in a few hours. Battled with StoreFront for over five weeks, and it never worked.

Summary: Very Poor Support.
Review: I bought this software directly from 'Lagarde'. Their sales people convinced me and I found the features very attractive. But how good the features are if there is no support. A very poor support department is unable to handle after sales support.At the time of this writing my webstore is down for last 25 days due to some error in their application. They have neither done any thing nor they have any answer on when it will be fixed. Now I am stuck and suggest that if you want to build a good business, do not use this company and their software as your technology base. Look somewhere else.

Summary: Storefront Makes My Life Much Easier!
Review: I've been using Storefront 5.0 for almost a year. I run a web design corporation ... in Atlanta and 5.0 has made our design lives much easier. This ecommerce store creation tool works seamlessly with FrontPage. (We use FrontPage 2000.) We have upgraded all of our ecommerce sites from StoreFront 2000 to 5.0, created new sites with 5.0 and have seen a real difference in the way our sites are executed as well as how the advanced marketing tools enable our customers to keep in touch with their clients.

Some of the best marketing tools available with the program are the Email a Friend, Newsletter and Affiliate Program features.

The Email a Friend actually allows people to instantly email anyone about a product they see on a Storefront site. This gives the merchant instant crediblility and one of the best ways to advertise, through word of mouth.

The Merchant Tools used in Storefront also allow merchants to access and edit their Newsletters as well as send them to a database of people who have opted-in during the order process. INSTANT ONLINE MARKETING LIST!

The Affiliate Program is great because it allows merchants to generate a buzz about their site on reciprocal sites by offering incentives for people to easily add a link to the merchant's site. Very easy to manage and extremely easy for people to register themselves as affiliates.

The last thing I want to mention is the support that is offered with this program. It is top-notch! Our questions are answered right away and hold times are non-existent.

Storefront 5.0 has allowed our company to offer our clients the best in ecommerce capabilities and marketing techniques. I would highly recommend this product to anyone in need of setting up an ecommerce store for themselves or for others!

Summary: Oops, we forgot to mention...
Review: We operate two web stores, one with over 1000 individual products, and used StoreFront 2000 Merchandiser Edition because we needed inventory tracking. We upgraded to the StoreFront 5.0 Advanced Edition. This requires that we update our database using a StoreFront provided utility program.

We've been using StoreFront because it had the features we needed at a competitive price. Prior to this upgrade, we've been satisfied with their product.

The Product Manager in StoreFront 5.0 is unable to read our inventory information in the converted file (a MS Access file). This is forcing us to manually re-enter inventory info on over 1000 items.

How hard can it be for programmers to read one database and write the info into another database? All their Product Manager needs to do is read their own database and transfer the quantities to the new database. ...
This is our third upgrade of their product and we feel they're providing inadequate support for existing customers. We'll shop around next time.
