Rating: Summary: DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT Review: I've been buying norton for years. Since it first came out actually. And I wasted money on this product. I install it only to find out that they want you to activate it every time it runs. It won't work otherwise. And it's not returnable. Once you buy software, you can't give it back. So I'm stuck with a copy of Norton that will not work. Thanks Symantec. See if I ever buy anything from you again...
Rating: Summary: Non-existant support Review: I have been trying for weeks to get presale information on this product and every single email has gone unanswered. This company is only interested in your money, not your satisfaction. Look elsewhere. Check out V Communications (http://www.v-com.com) for similar products and MUCH better support.UPDATE: Nearly a month later, I got a form letter response to one of my emails, referring me to their web site (if the info was on their web site, would I have gone to the trouble of contacting them?). It answered none of the questions I asked. When I replied, I got another copy of the same form letter sent back to me within 10 minutes. None of my other emails have been answered.

Rating: Summary: Good product, but watch out... Review: I've owned Systemworks 2001 and 2002. During 2003 my anti-virus subscription (a.k.a. symantec revenue stream) lapsed. My employer had Symantec's corporate version of anti-virus licensed for use at work and in employee homes, so I removed SystemWorks 2002's anti-virus portion and installed the corporate version from my employer. When I bought SystemWorks 2004, I'd read the other reviews about the activation problems, but I did not have that problem. Someone said this wouldn't install over an old version of SystemWorks, but it installed fine for me. My problem was that after the installation, Live Update would always say I was fully up to date, even though I could see my virus definitions were 6 months old. I tried emailing Norton's free support, but they only say they will respond in 4 to 5 days, which I didn't feel was acceptable, and I haven't heard yet even though it's been that long. I finally figured out that even though I'd removed the anti-virus from my employer before installing SW2004, after the installation the software was still going to the live update server at my employer for updates. Something didn't sync up and instead of saying hmm, there's a problem here, and telling me, it would just say I was fully up to date. To make this work I had to uninstall Systemworks entirely, then use a find to go through the registry and delete every entry for any Symantec or Norton item in the registry by hand. After that, the install went fine, I had to re-activate the product, and it works fine. I'm as happy with it as with previous versions of the software, except of course I feel the product activation is annoying and unnecessary. One should never have to go manually clean their registry to get a product to work. SystemWorks 2002 should have removed its entries. Symantec's corporate anti-virus from my employer should have removed its entries, especially the live update target server. But I had to do what the software products should have done automatically when they were uninstalled. So I'm happy with SystemWorks 2004, but unhappy with Symantec in general for releasing products that don't actually, fully uninstall when you "remove" them. There were dozens and dozens of leftover registry entries from SW2002 and corporate anti-virus to be removed by hand.
Rating: Summary: Customer Support Lacking Review: Just tried to load this program unsucessfully. Attempted online tech support and received email that I would get a response in FOUR TO FIVE DAYS! I switched from McAfee after my subscription expired and will be returning Norton and going back to McAfee who has a free Chat Support where I can solve my problems immediately- who wants to wait 4 or 5 days to solve a problem?
Rating: Summary: Uninstall old stuff first! Review: I've not had a problem installing Systemworks, but I do follow recommended steps. Plus, even if it's not recommended, ALWAYS uninstall the old programs, like any antivirus program or previous Systemworks first. Of course, this would mean unplugging or disconnecting your "always-on" connection. Too much trouble for some? One person I know complained that his antivirus program "went nuts" while he attempted to install Systemworks, and he finally had to reformat to fix the problems he created trying to force installation, then unistallation, etc... Can't comment on GoBack as I use MS System Restore.
Rating: Summary: Runs perfect - except for GoBack Review: Installed no problem, runs great and glad I bought it. Same experience with Norton Internet Security 2004 - I see all these folks who are having massive problems and headaches with both these programs, so I don't know what I'm doing right (or wrong?). Only glitch is the additinal GoBack personal edition that came bundled with Systemworks - after installing it the computer wouldn't get past the XP bootup screen. Had to disable GoBack to get past that then finally uninstall it. Symantic supposedly has a fix for this on their website, and I might try it sometime. Doesn't really matter - I don't really need GoBack. Windows system restore is sufficient for my purposes. Other than that Systemworks runs great.
Rating: Summary: Works like a charm! Review: I dont really understand how everyone can be having problems. I loaded my copy onto a brand new laptop with Windows XP Professional as well as a much older PC still running Windows 98. I can honestly say that there wasn't one problem on either machine. Installation went without a single mishap or error. I highly reccomend this product. They totally scam you out of the rebate, however, which is why i gave it 4 stars. If you are serious aboutt he product, I highly reccomend buying it, but just dont count on getting the thirty dollars back because I guarantee you wont give them the correct forms and proofs of purchase that they are looking for. But hey, it fixed 87 errors on my laptop and 109!! on the PC! Great product. Maybe reading the driections before you go ahead and install this is a wiser decision.
Rating: Summary: Norton System Works Works! Review: I recently purchased a Dell 8300 computer running on Windows XP. I had been having some Windows-related problems with my system. I purchased System Works 2004 and installed it. It found 216 problems with the registry and fixed them, as well as finding other problems that it fixed. System Works 2004 features a "one-button" check of your computer that worked like magic for me. I highly recommend it if you suspect you are having Windows-related problems with your computer.
Rating: Summary: No Customer Support Review: I have owned the product 3 weeks and have tried the on-line "support" they have not responded. Called the company who said they'll get back to me.
