Summary: Most expensive and doesn't include MP3
Review: I needed the facility of Nero to burn ISO images to CD so I purchased it figuring I could use it to replace my older Musicmatch Jukebox software. The box actually leads you to believe it will burn MP3's but don't be fooled. I stll use Musicmatch every day and use Nero maybe once a month for the ISO stuff. I feel ripped off.

Summary: Very powerful burning program with DVD-R/-RW/+R/+RW/RAM!!!!
Review: It IS the BEST burning program I've ever used. Many people don't know that Nero not only supports CD-R/RW burning but also DVD-R/-RW/+R/+RW/RAM burning!! It is not difficult to use at all. Nero gives *a lot* of options while burning. Not to mention, the virus scanning feature before burning. I've been using it since version 4.0.8.3 and it keeps getting better! For people whining about so called "difficulty" of using this program, Nero now comes with EXpress which should stop their whining. I don't understand why people purchase Roxios EAsy cd creator. I think its the people who doesn't know much about different cd-formats. It costs more than nero, doesn't even go near the features nero offers, very restricting (meaning *a lot* fewer options), and so on. I'm not saying roxios is the worst, but it would be a half broken bicycle whearas Nero would be a Hummer.

If you want to get the MOST out of your money, Nero is the answer. Easy CD doesn't worth [amt]. I would never pay more than [amt] for such program. Maybe a dime more for their effort.

Summary: An essential piece of software
Review: Don't be fooled by rubbish reviews of this software: it is simply the most powerful piece of CD recording software available. I'm slightly surprised that it appears to be largely unknown in the US, it seems to be far better known in Europe.

After using Roxio's Easy CD Creator 5 Platinum (and it's earlier, Adaptec incarnation) Nero is by far the more powerful of the two. I've never had any buffer underrun errors with it (you can even set the buffer limit manually which is extremely useful if you have a large amound of RAM in your PC as it virtually eliminates BURN errors) and despite other reviews to the contrary it's faster than Roxio's. Its worth shelling out a little extra for the MP3 Encoder (which includes both the standard MP3 and the superior MP3 PRO. Although you have to pay extra for it it it's not available at all in Roxio's software) and the Wave Editor. The Wave Editor is simply outstanding, it includes an oscilloscope - style display with all sorts of filters including hiss, click etc and you can edit any part of the sound file including cutting it, adding fade in/out etc and much else. The software includes full VCD/SVCD/Hybrid(mixed data/video) burning capabilities (Roxio will only burn VCD) as well as the usual standard Copy, make Data CD's etc. It also includes a VCD/Mpeg1 encoder as standard and theres even an SVCD/Mpeg2 encoder available (as an extra). Again, Roxio's doesn't have this capability.

The only reason I deducted a star is that although it's by far the most powerful it's not the easiest to use or understand piece of software. In short, if you're looking for a basic no-frills piece of software thats easy to use then buy Roxio's Easy CD Creator 5 Platinum. However, if you're a a serious PC user and want to get the maximum out of your PC and it's capabilities and are prepared to put in a little extra time and effort to get to grips with it's superior capabilities then Nero is an absolutely essential purchase.

NOBODY OUT THERE WHO CAN GUIDE ME, I NEVER UNDESTAND WHY

Summary: No fiddlin' around while the CD burns with this software
Review: I will have to admit I had somewhat of a bias in favor of this software-- I used to live in the very same small town in Germany's Black Forest where Ahead Software is based. And it came gratis with my PC, bought at a German grocery store (no fooling! And it is a killer PC, too. Ya gotta love those Germans and their technology.)

But is this a good CD burning tool? Yes, it is. I compared it to Adaptec and Easy CD Creator, which I use at work and I have to say Nero has more features, especially for audio. The downside here, however, is that you need to buy a plug-in to add MP3 capability. Now we use minidiscs which are more popular in Europe than in the US, but Americans love MP3. If you are burning CD's you probably also want to download music to your MP3 player. So I dinged Nero a star for not including MP3 and being so darned Euro-centric. We want our free MP3! However, it isn't too [much more money] to add it on. Just a minor annoyance.

The user interface is about as easy as Easy CD Creator, so if you don't have a good CD burning software package, this one is a fine choice.

Summary: Good software that does what it's supposed to do
Review: I use this and Stomp's RecordNow for most of my burning needs. If I am just burning Audio CD copies or Data CD copies I normally use RecordNow becuase it's what I started using first and the wizard for copies is just plain simple. The Nero software has what seems to be more options but also seems a little more difficult to wade through. I can't understand why anybody would buy this software for the retail price though as it comes bundled with many of the current CD-RW drives offered for less than the cost of the software. I purchased a HI-Val 48x16x48 Internal CD-RW drive for less than the cost of the software and it was bundled free inside the box. The software is good but use your money for the latest and greatest CD-RW drive instead and get the software for free.

Summary: Better than Roxio!!!
Review: I tried both programs and the Nero works better. Not as many errors and it copies cleanly.. No problems using it with winXP either... Plus they provide free updates!!!! I hate getting stuck with a program that you have to buy a new version because the company won't provide updates for its product!!
I copied a CD that I had problems with when using the OTHER Roxio software with no problem!!!
I think you will like it..

Summary: Best on the market
Review: I really have to say the is the easiest software to burn cds with. I've been using nero for about a year now. I recently upgraded to a new computer that has xp, and i thought i would try roxio ez cd creator 5 platinum, nothing but problems. So i went back to using nero. What i love best about nero, is that it isn't confusing at all. You don't have to read through tons of manuals to work it. All you so is drag and drop, then press that little burn button. If your stuck between nero burning rom 5.5 and ez cd creator 5, and are an xp user, go with nero.

Summary: It Works, Period.
Review: After going around in circles trying to get Roxio's products to work, I finally caved in and followed some good advice: try the free download of Nero 5.5.9.0. Having been unable to burn a CD with Roxio (let alone produce coasters - see my review on Roxio CD Creator 5.0 Platinum) I gave this a whirl. Install was clean and easy. The inteface came up when I double-clicked the icon (somthing Roxio refused to do at first). The program recognized my drive immediately (again something I had to coax Roxio to do). It was pretty intuitive and straight-forward. I was very rapidly able to burn a 700 Mb backup CD of my files. I cranked up the write speed to 8x (something that I was never able to do with Roxio w/o getting buffer underwrite/overflow errors) and it not only worked, but it flagged me on a couple of things that I had forgotten. Pretty nice! Buy this! I did.
