Summary: Worth a Try
Review: My computer came bundled with Easy CD Creator from Roxio, and after making 3 shiny coasters, I uninstalled it. I was looking to get the nero burning rom software but after reading the reviews for Windows ME applications I wasn't sure. I am running Windows ME on a newer Dell computer. After downloading the demo and installing it, I proceeded to burn a copy of a disc without a problem first try. I didn't have any problems installing and running it at all. I will definately be getting the full version soon.

Summary: Works with Me Perfectly
Review: Whenever I read this many negative reviews about a good product I have to comment. Nero 5.5 is the best CD burner out there, much better than "Easy CD Creator" which is a true piece of junk.
I installed this on three computers with Windows Me on them and they all worked fine. I build my own computers and can only assume that if you have problems installing this software you have something goofy with your system, and it is not the software itself. I have discovered while repairing friends' computers and upgrading them for them that usually it is some overlooked detail in the system that is actually causing a problem and not the software.
This software is reliable, intuitive to use, and the maker is constantly tweaking it to improve it. I don't own stock in the company. I am a retired newspaper editor who has no vested interest in anything but the truth, which is why I retired....

Summary: Works Great on 98
Review: I have read other reviews of individuals having problems with other operating systems, such as Windows 2000, so please read their reviews. I have Windows 98, first edition. Like many people, I had little experience with burning CD's but wanted to get into making my own. I tried Easy CD-Creator, but could not get it to work with my Plexwriter 12/10/32, even though it shipped with the Plexwriter. After many emails and tech support calls to both Plextor and Easy CD, following the uninstall suggestions and patches, I could NOT get the software to work without freezing the system. I read the reviews on Nero and decided to download the demo from AHEAD software...BINGO..worked the first time. No coasters so far. It is intuitively easy for the beginner to start making CD's right away. I have found it to be a great program, and NO SCREEN FREEZES like I was getting with Easy CD Creator. I say...great program, go for it.

Summary: The best that I have tried...
Review: After reading the few bad reports on Nero, I had to write this. I have been using it with no problems for over a year now. I started with ver. 5.04 and have upgraded to ver. 5.5. I feel the new release has more options.

I have tried E-Z cd creator and did not care for it.

The most important thing is to goto your hardware makers web site or to call them to see if the software you are looking to purchase will support your drive and OS.

Summary: Difficult to Use for Data Compilation
Review: I purchased Nero after reading some of the glowing remarks here at Amazon.com. Although it copies CD to CD and does CD audio compilations quite well, I have yet to figure out how it's compiling DATA CD's. I followed the Wizard last night to copy some photos from different zip disks onto one CD, and by the time I got done, I wasn't sure if it had "closed" the CD or not; and when I tried to access the photos, I could only get at a handful of them, despite the fact that it had give me 5 successful burn messages.
Then I read something in the online manual about multi-session, and Nero multi-mount. You have to go into Explorer, access that CD drive, and click on volumes, to see all the sessions, then click on the session you want to see. Well, I did that, and it wouldn't access that session. I fear I've made a coaster. All I want to do is put photos, data, etc., on the CD. I'd like to exchange photos with family and friends. I don't think it should be this difficult!
I will be exploring other CD burning software.

Summary: Nero Burning ROM 5.5
Review: Currently using EZ Creator for my Iomega USB burner. Got 5.5 OEM version from Nero sales rep. Wanted to demo it on my ThinkPad 600x. Installed 5.5 on Win 2000. On the package, it clearly states supporting Win 2000. Unfortunately, when rebooting after installation, my PC could not boot up. There were multiple errors during boot up. Did not want to mess with it and uninstalled the software. Please beware. May need to stick with Easy CD.

Summary: It Will Corrupt a Windows ME System.
Review: Most products that support Windows 95 & 98 also work on Windows ME. This product does not, although the manufacturer doesn't claim that it does work on Windows ME, they should provide a warning that it doesn't work on Windows ME, and not only doesn't it work, but it corrupted my system to such an extent that I couldn't recover even using the Windows ME System Restore functions. I had to reformat my hard drive and reinstall Windows in order to recover and then reload my data files from a recent backup. Be sure you have a recent data backup available before loading this software.

Summary: Better than Easy CD Creator
Review: I purchased Easy CD Creator 5. My CDRW worked with 4, actually it came with it so I thought I'd be safe. Well, to make a long story short. 3 hours on the phone with Roxio tech support and 5 more hours reinstalling my OS and applications and Easy CD Creator 5 just doesn't work. I have a common Plextor 12/10/32a drive.

I came across Nero and installed it. Worked on the first try. I have written 5 cds so far and it has worked flawlessly. It support burn proof technology, so I can do other things while burning.

I will be trying to return Easy CD Creator 5.

Summary: Buries 'Easy CD Creator'!
Review: I have used several CD burning software packages, and 'Nero' is absolutely the best! 'Nero' operated for me, exactly as advertised, from the first time right out of the box! After burning 50 ' 75 data, back-up and audio CDs, I have yet to see 'Nero' make my system crash, or see it freeze up and lock down in the middle of recording (both were constant occurrences with 'Easy CD Creator' even after downloading all patches and contacting Adaptac/Roxio reps). With 'Nero' I have not created a coaster yet! It also gives you more control over what you put on your CD than 'Click 'n' Burn.' However, 'Click 'n' Burn' is a great product if you want to kick out CDs in a real hurry without making any in-depth audio adjustments. I am no 'techie' by any stretch of the imagination and found 'Nero' very easy to use. I have been using 'Nero' alongside 'DartPro 32' to convert my ancient vinyl collection onto CD. 'DartPro 32' takes and repairs tracks from non-CD sources, mostly old 45 records and cassettes, then 'Nero' brushes them up more and drops them onto CD. (Unfortunately, Amazon does not carry 'DartPro,' but the software can be found at the dartpro.com website). This set-up may cost a bit more to start with, but you will not be wasting any time or money on ruined blank CDs! In comparison to 'Easy CD Creator,' this 'Nero' + 'DartPro' team up can pay for the price difference in no time at all with just your savings on 'coasters,' time and aggravation. The re-created sounds from your old records and tapes have to be heard to be believed. EXCELLENT!

Summary: Thank God!!
Review: After wasting one CD-R after another using the notorious "Easy"-CD Creator which came with my Yamaha CD-Burner, their (Yamaha's) own customer support recommended NERO to me, ironically enough. Thank God!! I found it not only to be the most reliant software for CD burning but it also includes features for flawlessly creating/editing MP3 files. It's the only software I know that is licensed to use an MP3-encoder developed by the German "Fraunhofer-Institute", which actually invented the MP3-format. Of course...it's a German product, what more can I say. Consider it the Merceds-Benz among all burning software! Satisfaction Guaranteed.
