Summary: Complete CD writing software
Review: I purchased this package when it first came out and it did have problems but Roxio has kept up with them and produced patches to fix those problems. It is best if you go to thier website and see if your CD Writer is supported first but that shouldn't be a deterrent to purchasing this software. I have a PlexWriter and since installing the patches from Roxio and the firmware updates from Plextor have had absolutely no problems with doing anything I need from my CD Writer. I copy my system and essential files to CD-RW using the drag and drop format option and have burned audio CD's rated at 10X at 16X speed and never have a flaw. This package also includes great audio editing software and copying from Cassette to hard drive, then editing out sounds and the final burning to CD has been much easier than I thought it would be. I'm highly impressed by the user friendly interface and simplicity of use of this software package.

Summary: Very Disappointing Software
Review: I agree with those who would prefer to give this software zero stars!

I bought this software because I wanted to convert my collection of vinyl LPs to MP3. The Spin Doctor program, included in Easy CD Creator 5, was supposed to help me do this.

I found the following problems:
1. Spin Doctor is poorly integrated into this program package. With Spin Doctor active, you cannot go back to the program's main interface.

2. Spin Doctor is supposed to filter the clicks and pops inherent in vinyl recordings. It failed to do this without causing the overall sound quality to degrade to unacceptable levels.

3. Spin Doctor has a split track feature that is supposed to create a new file each time that it senses the silence between LP songs. It failed to do this reliably.

4. The graphical "buttons" used to select features within Spin Doctor do not illuminate when activated. The buttons elsewhere in Easy CD Creator illuminate as expected.

5. When I specified that I wanted encoded files to be saved in the MP3 format, Spin Doctor registered that it was indeed doing as instructed. The recorded files, however, were not MP3, they were WAV.

The frustration with the Spin Doctor component of this software was enough to stop me from any further testing. I have deinstalled this package.

This software is not worth the box in which it is shipped.

Summary: Easy to learn!!
Review: I got this for my sister who was dieing to know how to make CDs out of MP3s. After we got EZ CD 5 she learned very very quick.

This program is for beginners that dont know much about making CDs.

I recommend that if you do know anything about CD burning please use Nero 5.5!!

Summary: Title Is a Misnomer!!!
Review: This software is nowhere near as easy to use as the advertisements profess. I have yet to be successful in transferring from LP or cassette to CD. It seems that every time I try, I end up with one long track instead of individual songs. I have followed directions carefully and still have this problem.

Summary: Contrary to popular belief, it really works!
Review: I ordered this software with great trepidation. I am glad that I did. There were some problems after set up but after downloading the upddates from Roxio's website, all went well. If you are using an external, USB burner, make sure that you have the burner connected to the computer and not a hub. Data flow interrupts when you are going through a USB hub. I have this software on my laptop as well and it blazes out the copies. So far, no problems.

Summary: Makes the tough CD R/W easy as Floppy Disk!
Review: Works equally well on Xp, Win 2K, Win Me. (I haven't tested others). Advanced over Version 4 and previous versions, which set the standards by removing the complexaties of Packet CD from the end user.

There are discounts and/or rebates available as well. . . Check them all out to take advantage.

Direct CD (comes with it) eliminates the need for other removable media drive by allowing use of rewriteable CD's to be used as removable media just as easily as floppy disks! The difference is that you get over 1/2 Gig byte of storage on each disk! (You do need to 'Format' each rewriteable CD for this use).

Highly recommended, it's 'Top of the Line' in writeable CD for Data, Music, Pictures, and general purpose archive and backup use.

Summary: This program is a joke
Review: I'd rate this program zero if there was such a rating. I have tried installing this product on 3 different systems and have yet to get it to work properly. I used Easy CD Creator 4 prior to this and never experienced any of the problems associated with this latest edition. All you have to do is log on to Roxio's web site and look at all the upgrades to try and make this program work the way it's supposed to and it won't take you long to realise this program shouldn't have even been released to the public. Also Roxio's product support is a joke. They had me totally reconfigure my system to the point where it caused at least 6 of my other programs including my virus scan to cease operating. After all this it still didn't work properly. I have never seen a program such as this that required you to totally reconfigure your computer just to make one program operate. I always assumed a properly written program wouldn't require you to do this. I have tried running this under both Windows 98SE & Windows ME with the same result. Stay away from this one and if you have the older version 4.0 stick with it or try out Nero Burning ROM 5.5.

Summary: I like it
Review: Despite all the potential technical problems with a product like that, it worked perfectly for me. My understanding is that there are a number of incompatibility issues but my copy came bundled with the computer and works great. I don't think the Platinum edition is a must - the ability to burn music on the CD is available as an add-on for the standard edition too - you can download it from the developer's site.

Best way to back up data and carry large files arround.

Summary: Platinum 5 is a worthless product
Review: Save your money and don't buy this version. Worthless product with millions of bugs. This is the worst update to this Product Ever. Total waste of money and very poor support.I had version 3.5c prior to this one and did not have any problems with it. Now that I have the 5.0 Platinum edition I don't seem to be able to perform a two drive copy. Can't finalize audio CD's. This is a major disappointment. My advice: Save yourself some grief and don't even consider this product.

Summary: Recording Speeds
Review: I had set my expectations of the EZ5 a little higher than the package was able to deliver. I still get 'skips' at high speed settings, (CD to CD) with all running backgrounds turned off (windows 98). The feature I bought the software for works, (the slide show with audio). Although it wasn't as easy as a 'plug and play' software should be, I did have to use the Tech Support to get this feature to work. The bottom line for me is, if you want to add some features to your burner, get this, just don't expect it to jump through the proverbial hoops.......
