Summary: Horrible!
Review: Awful, program slows the computer down, crashes when burning a CD, and has screwed up too much of my harddrive. Installed 3 times, and still does not work. If you have Win 2000 DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!!! I would give it a ZERO if possible.

Summary: bugs bugs bugs
Review: This product has so many annoying bugs that using it is an effort.

One peculiar problem that stopped me from using this package is that this sw keeps on ejecting a blank RW saying the disk doesnt have enough space. This happens when you erase a CD and try to use it.

Everything about this sw is clumsy. I dumped it and now use Nero.

Summary: Jury is still out
Review: I haven't been able to use all the features on this item yet. I had Creator 4 Delux that I used to make slide show photo albums with audio tracks that worked very well except I wanted to play them on DVD. 5 Platinum was about the only affordable package that included MPEG1 encoding and, as I was already familiar with most of the features (spin doctor, take two, etc.), I went with this package and am so far satisfied.. Not impressed yet. True, the various packages could be better integrated but they are functional. When I have the Xmas pics in hand and have a chance to do a slide show on that I will know more about this.

Follow-up comments:
OK,, got my Xmas pics and was able to make a Video disc from the stills that the DVD was happy with. Also found that I can make menu driven DVD's and a few other features that I hadn't expected.
I also found some problems that I hadn't expected. The major one is that I cannot seem to recover changes in a saved file... ie. I create a slideshow, enter text, transition effects, audio, etc and save the file to gather more material. I reload it and the pics are there but the rest is gone... virtually have to start from scratch.. Not good!! I have come up with a few workarounds but this is a pain!! Arcsoft support seems to be non-existant... Arcsoft is the developer for this end of the suite... Roxio support is less. Maybe would be better if I went for the paid support be e-mail requests are a waste.
Bottom line: The functions are there but you will need the patience of Job to ferret them out and use them, but the alternative would be to spring some MAJOR bucks for real authoring software..
...
Follow-up to the follow up.... The main reason I bought this software was to get Video Impression.. the MPEG conversion package.. I can make Video CD's but this is a REAL ugly baby... Everything MUST be done AND burned at the same sitting.. All the other functions seem to work OK, I have Windows Me, I would suggest Win 2K or XP users avoid this stuff. Music people with other OP systems will likely find it OK, Direct CD with Win 98 and Me worked great...

Summary: Waste of money should be 5 dollars
Review: I wish I had never bought this!!! I have had so many problems- when trying to convert from MP3s to WAVs, sometimes it doesn't recognize a blank disk in the drive and says it's currupt(Brand New Memorex CD-R's) and when it DOES actually work, it won't play the CD in my car. I have been having problems using it to simply store data and open that CD once finished on other computers... Needs alot of work - I already took it off the computer and put on my old burning software which is much easier to make data CDs, MP3 CDs, and music CDs for my car.

Summary: DANGER-this will kill your Win2K O/s
Review: DANGER WARNING: I cannot overstress the importance of avoiding this well-known and popular software. It has a bug (acknowledged by their support) that will render your hard drive unbootable, and will kill your operating system (at least with Windows 2000).

On 2 occasions this week, (the second while on the phone with Roxio Support) an attempt to fix CD Creator 5 Platinum problems on Windows 2000, by uninstalling CD Creator, caused my computer to fail to boot, with STOP 07B INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE. No amount of trying or using your ERD will fix it. Roxio Support had a replacement file they said would fix it, but it didn't. I had to reinstall Windows 2000 and all my software twice this week. All my software configuration info for dozens of programs was lost each time. The first time, I didn't realize Roxio was causing the crashes; I thought it was a virus or HD corruption. After the second time, and their admission that their software causes it, I will NEVER use their products again. I just wish I live in CA so I could more easily sue them for producing a product that will damage your computer so severely.

If you need to call their (non-toll-free) support, plan on spending about 90 minutes on hold before you get to talk to anyone.

Summary: EZ CD Creator Platinum Does Not Deliver
Review: EZ CD Creator is a huge disappointment. It looks like it has many great features, but because it has 2 CD burning interfaces (a mystery in itself - why is there not just one) you can't use many of the features together. For instance, it is impossible to use volume leveling with cross fade or track merge with the equalizer. This is one of the poorest product designs I have ever seen.

On top of that, there are numerous errors when trying to use the program. Want to use "Pop eliminator" or "Noise filtering" when burning tracks from LPs? Be prepared for Buffer Underruns. In my experience, the program just will not work with these features engaged.

Tech support -- forget it. I was on hold (a toll call) for 1.5 hours one day and 1 hour the next and have never reached a technician. I e-mailed them 5 days ago and have not received a response.

I strongly urge everyone to avoid this product and company at all costs. It was the worst $... I have ever spent.

I recommend this for any level CD burn'g enthusiast.

Summary: Upgrading caused problems
Review: I first was introduced to the Easy CD Creator as a bundled trialware when I recieved my Dell Laptop in the mail. I was pleased with the basic version. It's interface is very easy and there is virtually no learning curve. I thought this was finally the CD burner I had dreamed of owning. Online, I ordered away for the platinum but found that version didn't recognize the Toshiba CD-RW. I went online to download the appropiate driver update and installed it succesfully, but with no change in result (as if it had never installed). (...) I know I'll love the product if I can ever get it to work.(...)

Summary: Easy CD Creator...a FANTASTIC product
Review: I cannot for the life of me understand the poor reviews posted for this product. I had very little experience with CD burning, and have found Roxio to be very easy to use. It installed very easily DID NOT affect my computer in any adverse way, and I was up and buring CDs in no time! It is very intuitive to use, especially the the interface drop down menus. Just tell it what you want to do, and it does it. Maybe some people have valid problems with it, but I for one think it is one of the best pieces of software that I have ever purchased.

Summary: Upgrading from 4.0 [A slight gain in performance!]
Review: I use this program PRIMARILY to BACK-UP data. With version 4.0 I could only BACK-UP my program files on an individual basis NOT the complete HARD DRIVE. But with ROXIO's "Easy CD Creator 5.0 Platinum" system I can BACK-UP my COMPLETE disk configuration with the help of the TAKE2 software. In order to use this without getting any ERRORS, I BACK-UP on to CD-R disks only. Trying to use the reusable CD-RW disks works OK the first time but results in ALL sorts of ERRORS on some disks thereafter. I have tried ERASING, RE-FORMATING, and TRYING TO RECORD OVER CD-RWs to NO avail. Consequently, I don't use the CD-RWs with TAKE2.

We had a fire here in AUGUST, 2001 and our computers were disabled completely. The day before the fire I backed up my complete system using TAKE2 on CD-R disks. I replaced the computers the following day and used the RESTORE function on my TAKE2 disks. My operation was up & running within [2] hours. If I had had to reformat & copy files from CDs, it would have easily taken me 20 + hours to do the job and even then it wouldn't be as good as what TAKE2 did!!

ROXIO doesn't reveal the limitations of the software in this system. You have to find out by trial & error. This is why I rated this system as a [3].

Paying closer attention to the way this system was developed and more intense debugging would have helped promote the use of this system. As it turns out, they [ROXIO] have left the door open for one of their COMPETITORS to <ENTER> this market with a BUG FREE SYSTEM!
