Summary: Works great!!
Review: Upgraded from the "lite" version provided with my Compaq PC-- works great, does about everything you could want in a burner package.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Pay no attention to bad reviews if you have version 5.1
Review: This is the best burning software I've ever used. It does everything I want it to do, and then some. I installed version 5.1 on my computer running Windows 2000 Pro, and it's run flawlwssly so far.

Windows 2000 and XP users: Like many here have already said, get the version that doesn't advertise the "Take Two" feature, and make sure the box has a blue corner that says, "enhance your Windows XP burning experience" or something like that.

Summary: Be afraid, be very afraid of this!
Review: I ordered a burner and ESCD 5.X which I've had for 4 days now. I would love to offer a review of how this product actually works but I have spent many hours trying and can't get it to install! It says there is an older version and there and there's not. Roxio doesn't have an 800 number to call but will be happy to charge you for the call. I test software for a living and can't believe a company would release something like this. I honestly feel like I paid [price] for a beta version of software. I have gotten a couple email responses from their tech support but after several pages of suggestions which include editing the registry, it still doesn't work. I told them they have one more chance to help me or I'm returning this "product". If you are still considering buying this, might I suggest you go check out the discussion group for Easy CD Creator 5.x Platinum on Roxio's web site under support...

Summary: Test the demo version on your system 1st!
Review: The user interface is clumsy and a bit cartoonist as far as I'm concerned. I liked the simplicity of Creator 4 much better. And yes, I can't stand Windows XP for the same reasons! I used CD Creator 4 successfully for a long time. One day, I decided to purchase Creator 5 and download the product updates from Roxio's web site. Oooppss! From that point on, it was coaster mania! I haven't burned a good CD with CD Creator since. Now, I have a SCSI Plextor CDROM and a SCSI Plextor CDRW which is by far the best combination available for CD duplication on the market today. ( Hint, Hint, Plug! ) This was the 1st time I have EVER burned a bad CD with a Plextor drive!

After a few hours of frustration, I removed CD Creator 5 and loaded a demo of NEO. The system has worked flawlessly from that instant. I may be wrong but I believe Roxio purchased CD Creator from Adaptec prior to the release of version 5. Maybe they should sell it back to Adaptec before it gets really messed up.

I would advise downloading the demo from Roxio's web site and make sure it works for your system before purchasing the full version.

I experienced these problems on the following system configuration:
Windows 2000 Pro SP3, Plextor CD drives, Adaptec 39160 SCSI controller, 1 Gig RAM, and dual 2 GHz Athlon MP CPUs.

Summary: Not very impressed
Review: I would have given it no stars if I could have!!

I have run this software on three machines, and it performed badly on all of them. When I was running it on an HP I thought the problem was probably the computer. Then I upgraded to a Dell for my home use and a another Dell for the busniess. I was suprised to find Easy CD among the pre-packaged software. When I started experiencing problems (on both machines) I upgraded to the platinum version (thinking maybe it would be better). The software does not seem to be capable of consistently writting even the smallest file to my CD-RW drive (factory installed by Dell). It never ceases to amaze me that companies actually get away with selling a product with so many flaws. I would definetly recommend staying away from this product and by extension, any other product made by Roxio.

Summary: Lighten up, please!
Review: In light of all the negative reviews, it was with fear and trembling that I recently purchased Roxio Easy CD Creator 5 Platinum and installed it on my new computer running Windows XP Home Edition. Was I ever pleasantly surprised. I had Ver. 5.1 out of the box, and updated to Ver. 5.3.1.154 SP4 from the Roxio web site. Everything has worked flawlessly and as advertised! Lighten up, please. Yes, Roxio was slow in getting the software to run under XP, but it's fixed now and works just fine. Let the burning begin!! By the way, I downloaded the trial version of Nero and found it extremely difficult to use.
