Summary: Easiest I've found
Review: As a user of adaptive technology (talking computer with Braille display), I found this very easy to use. The backup process is a bit slow, but creating images and an emergency boot CD with accompanying image is very easy and painless. I've had no trouble with this. Only concern is that doing incremental backups might be a bit tricky, but since images work well, this is a minor consideration.

Summary: Backup NOW!: reliable but rather slow
Review: Backup NOW! did a satisfactory job of backing up my data, but I found it to be more than twice as slow as the other backup program I have used, Backup MyPC. A review I saw stated that Backup NOW! was about 25% slower. YMMV, depending on the specifics of your hardware. (I use CD-RWs. CD-Rs should be faster.)
I found this program easy to use, although it took some trial and error to figure out the correct settings to use. For example, the program supports two data formats, and I had to try them both to find out which one my CD drive supports.

Summary: Bombed Out!
Review: The interface is easy enough to use.....

That's about all I can say!

I have a Gateway PIII 933 with 128 megs of RAM and a Plextor burner. You'd think that I'd be able to create successful backups, right? I could not create one! I tried using several different brands of CDR/CDRW media, but the software developed errors in the middle of the backup process every time. Each attempt rendered my media useless. As a matter of fact, I think I wasted approximately 20 CDR/CDRW's.

Hmmmmm..... well, I was able to complete one backup job. Ironically, when I tried to do a restore from it, it haulted fairly soon after it began. I had to reinstall my operating system entirely, because the erroneous restore made my system unstable. What a nightmare NTI's BackupNOW has been!

To add insult to injury, my emails to their support staff were basically ignored. I was told once to apply a patch which didn't seem to help at all. I asked for my money back, and unfortunately, I am yet to hear from NTI.

Summary: Backup Now for The Standalone
Review: The program is great with comparison and compression. Instructions are a bit vague for the beginner as they might not create a restore disk either to a floppy or CD; do both to be safe :). Will work on any CD/RW I found. Even can set up scheduled time. Great product for the home user and SOHO.

Review: This product performed poorly when we tried to back up our PC.
After trying to back up the PC over 5 times and everytime spending close to 6 hours on the process the software would quit on the 2nd CD ROM. The hard drive contained 1.2 Gb of data and it would take almost 6 hours to get it to about 87% when the Backup NOW would quit with no warning or errors.

The whole backup scheme is very odd and outdated.

On 2nd try (different PC)we successfully imaged a small hard drive (487 Mb) but when tried to restore it using the Backup Now Software the restore process never began.

Very poor performance for a software costing $ 99.99.

We will never use this software again nor will we ever recommand it to our clients.
