Summary: Stay Away!!!
Review: The software is horrible and the support is terrible. I installed VScan 7.0 and the update function did not work. I did online chat with Mcafee and they told me it was becuase I had an older version that was interfering with the update. They gave me long instructions to delete files from the registry. I followed these instructions to the letter (even though I complained that this was very dangerous), and it corrupted my OS, and caused a crash. I spend hours on the phone with a Microsoft support rep , and bottom line, I had to do a parallel install of Windows XP and lost all my data and applications!
Stupid me, I tried again to install the Mcafee software again, thinking that it would have to work on a fresh version of the OS. No luck. I freeze at the registration process and the online chat tech support couldn't figure out why. They seem to give canned answers and don't listen to what I tell them...not a very bright group. I asked for a refund and sent CS an email...no response.Save your money!

Summary: McAfee VirusScan and Firewall similar to shareware
Review: Cons: You can't repair it, you can't remove it, and the tech support stinks.

Pros: It looks pretty and takes up lots of disk space. The CD disk makes for a nice dog toy and the box is good for small bits of rubish and perhaps as another dog toy.

Giving this a rating of one star is generous, infact I feel they should be giving me a few stars back in exchange for this worthless junk. Avoid this mess at all costs !!

Summary: Awful company - avoid McAfee like the plague
Review: I purchased V7, had only one problem. I Could not download product update to v7.3.6. So I needed to turn off instant updater so that the software would not constantly try to download the update.
Just recently I tried installing V8 to fix the constant download problem. However, V7 gave multitude of errors regarding uninstall before installing V8. Windows uninstall did nothing, mcafee sugests a forced uninstall, but for tech challenged people it is difficult. Took many hours to remove. Don't get rid of if you you all ready have it, but you are a new user try something else.

The good-Easy to use, good viruscan
Easy to install the first time
The bad-stubborn to get rid off
Support staff needs more people to get ahead of problems
Firewall locks up internet

Summary: Locked on install, no competent tech support
Review: Locked Win98 up on install. After hours with Tech support,
( Bubba in India didn't speak the english ) I had to format and re-install everything in my computer from scratch. ( Bubba thought it would be a good idea to edit my registry and ini files. That was the end of my machine. ) I then purchased and installed the major competitors product without a glitch. Bye bye McAfee, you won't ever sell me another loser program.
