Summary: good while it lasted
Review: I got this for a birthday gift and took it out walking that night. Using it for exercising and hooking it to my tape deck were its main uses for the 10 months I have had it. I don't jog with it much - I usually jog without it but it works just swell for jogging. (There is no reason to do with the actual discman for why I don't jog with it - it just gets in the way of my focus.) Anyhow, the other day I was walking down the street and it slipped from my hand. I have dropped it onto the pavement many times before and all that came from it were scratches. This time, like usual the headphones (new ones I got from my brother because the other ones are super-uncomfortable and the bass [stinks]) stayed on my head and the jeck came out. So I picked up my discman and hit play. So it says "No Disc." I look on the ground to see if it fell out and it didn't so I open the discman and there is the disc and about 4 pieces from the centre that hold the discman in. It is still under warranty so I'm hoping to get those piece replaced. Otherwise the discman (with my megabass headphones) is 5 stars.

Summary: A expensive but very nice C.D. player
Review: I like to listen to music. It's one of my favorite pastimes. Usually when I listen to music I'm doing something like exercising. And while you work out, it's obvious that any C.D. player you're using is going to get bumped up. But this is where the Panasonic SLSW860 comes in. It can take bump after bump after bump, and still keep going. It's anti-shock is one of the best I've seen. It dosen't fall short on sound quality either. It has a smooth sound, equal to a big stereo system. The only thing I have to complain about the Panasonic SLSW860 is the price. You can buy a stereo system for the price of this C.D. player. But aside from that this is the perfect C.D player for someone who is on the go alot and likes clean sounding music.

Summary: an expensive cd player isn't supposed to break
Review: I purchased this CD player a little more than a year ago hoping that i would never have to buy another. The metal encasement seemed to be both durable and sturdy....in other words I didn't expect it to break. About a week ago I was walking around listening to my music and all of a sudden the music stops. I open the CD player to find that the little thing used to hold the CD onto the player broke off rendering it unable to hold a CD. You would think that the last thing to break would be that. The warrenty was only a year so i called tech support hoping that they would be able to send me a new one; boy was I wrong, they ended up transfering me to a local area repair shop who wanted to charge me a rediculous 100 bucks to fix the simple part. Now I am stuck with a working CD player unable to hold a CD.

Summary: good while it lasted
Review: I should have reviewed these long ago. I've had the yellow Shockwave casette player and its withstood years of my clumsy workouts and the sound kicks butt! Today I was running with the CD player and tripped on an uneven piece of sidewalk and went flying. Since the player was strapped onto my hand I landed right on it. Sure enough, its scratched up on the surface, but still works fine. It doubles as protective gear!

The only downfall is the headphones included are crap and probably cost less than the packaging. Throw them away and get a decent set and this sounds great! It never skips either! A miracle for runners!

Summary: Good, durable CD player
Review: I've owned my SLSW860 for about 8 months now and it's going strong. I have yet to make the player skip with the anti-skip mechanism on while running. Also, the player has a decent battery life when the anti-skip is turned on. It's not great, but I didn't expect it to be. The sound quality it provides is amazing with XBS turned on and a different pair of headphones. The ones included are fine, but get uncomfortable after extended use. I've tried the player with a pair of good headphones inside, and the quality of sound is absolutely incredible.

In addition to sounding great, this player just looks cool. The aluminum casing is strong and durable. The rubber grips held you hold the player securely. Also, the free Jog Belt that you can send away for is a really nice addition to this CD player and I would encourage anyone who plans on using this CD player for running to get it.

Summary: Great for Exercising
Review: So far so good. I've owned this player for a few days now. I've jogged with it and shaken the hell outta the thing and can't make it skip. I also compared the sound quality to the top of the line sony and it compares favorably. Mine came with an offer for a free belt/fanny pack you can send away for. Looks like this promotion lasts through March of 2001. Only negative I can think of are the headphones which are slightly chinsy and could use some more bass response although most of these walkman style CD players come with [bad] headphones that will need replacing.

Summary: Very Pleased in Maryland
Review: The only reason I do not give this 5 stars is that I've only used it three times so far. However, I bought it for exercise purposes and so far it has worked like a charm and I am glad to pay extra for a durable cd player that I can jog with. I have had Sony players in the past that don't match up well and I'm so happy to have fallen into the Panasonic camp. The anti-shock jogger format hasn't failed to deliver constant top-quality sound and the player has had no problem with my CD-R's that I play. The only tiny drawback is that after twenty or so minutes jogging, the headphones can be a bit uncomfortable but it least they continue to perform - something that the undependable Sony sport headphones would like to claim. Only time will tell about the 5th star but things look very promising.
