Rating: Summary: Not as good as the older ones Review: I have tried 4 different Panasonic Players and notice the newer ones skip at least 2 to 3 times by the time the CD is done and has nothing to do with the antiskip feature. The problem is in the tracking beam. I have even tried new ones from the store and mistracked including using CD-R disks and they all mistrack and usually toward the last few cuts. I would go for the 850,860,880 or 869. This series don't skip or mistrack as I own the model SL-SW 850 and the 860 and neither skip nor mistrack and have better and have a fuller and louder sound than the ones with the digital volume button. But your batteries won't last quite as long as the newer model, but I would rater have 12 quality hours of play as oppose to 16 to 20 hours with less voulme and fullness. The CD players that feature the longer battery life have to give some where and they do, as you lose volume and fullness and harder to drive the headphones. I also had the SL-SX 289 with tuner, same thing mistracked toward the last few songs. Getting back to the antiskip feature the newer CD players with the built in auto skip protection are not as good as the older design. The older 800 series has an A shock button when depressed does the job, no skipping or mistracking. Throw away the original headphones and get yourself tremendous sounding with full base. The Radio Shack portable headphones model Pro X model made by Koss are selling now at Radio Shack for $19.95 original price is $39.99 and boy they sound fantastic as I am very critical when it comes to sound. I wish more people would get into more depth of the pros and cons like I do instead of just saying a few words and would help more people like yourself's, I hope this review was helpful.
Rating: Summary: Great value Review: I've always been a big fan of Panasonic products - they just seem to be made better and last longer than their competitors. That said, I have not been disappointed by this CD player. It has a number of benefits: 1. It's light - not a big, bulky unit to carry around. 2. The headphones are GREAT - was a little leary at first of the "clip on" variety, but they are almost unnoticeable when worn. 3. Play time - the batteries last almost 28 hours according to my first use.. and I have the volume up rather high as I use mine in a noisy gym. 4. No skipping - literally. It's never skipped. Detracting from it (hence 4 stars and not 5) 1. Not quite as full a sound as I'd expected, which could be due to the headphones. They don't quite press up against your ear the way normal headphones do, which could mean a loss of bass perception. All in all, a great unit and the ability to get over 20 hours of use on just 2 AA batteries is incredible. Well worth the investment - and if you don't get this exact unit, go with another Panasonic that has the Shock Wave system - the difference in bass is profound.

Rating: Summary: The great, the good, and the one weakness Review: This is a great product. I had been a constant user of Sony Discman's in the past (I go through at least 1 a year due to damage/loss/theft), but I figured I'd give Panasonic a shot. Great look, easy to use, the jogger's grip fits great and makes you confident you can run with the Shockwave (I've done it) The sound is pretty good, although an upgrade in headphones wouldn't hurt. The clip behind the ear is a nifty idea. Although it has "Schockwave 40 second Skip Protection. It doesn't hold up if you leave it on the treadmill (which is why I ran with it)All in all, a great product for the price. Panasonic may have got itself a new convert.
