Rating: Summary: Great Anti-Skip, Sound, and Sound Navigation Review: In a three week period - I went through at least four MP3 players trying to find one that wouldn't skip when jogging or working out. After buying and returning several units, it became obvious that you could have a smaller unit with a memory card that wouldn't skip or a CD-based unit that could hold more songs but would skip. Then I found this player and its 8 min anti-skip worked well even when jogging. The navigation system to select directories or songs is intuitive and easy to use. Playback produced great sound quality which is improved by using one of the preset equalizer settings. The ability to upgrade the firmware is also beneficial for upgrading the unit to read additional music formats and fix minor bugs. While the MOJO's technology was great, its design was somewhat disappointing. It's not much to look at visually and it lacks what should be standard components: - A headphone-remote control: The Rio has this and I believe the newer MOJO does as well. This is particularly useful for skipping tracks and adjusting volume on these CD units since many will put the unit in their backpack or on a Tune Belt. - A case with an opening to see the unit's display. - A belt clip. All in all, I've been pleased with this purchase (after testing four other players) and I think the unit's short comings will be fixed in future models.
Rating: Summary: Best MP3 Player Out There. Period. Review: First, let me clear this up: I am NOT related or associated in any way to TDK. All this said, I must say that after reading all the reviews..., I decided to buy the MOJO. Well, so far so good...Now, I believe my expectations are not the same as many of yours, and that I am not an electronics geek: I was only looking for a great MP3 player that I could use both at home and in my car. Well, this one despite the fact that has that Navitrack thing which might be bothersome at times, it is a very good player which has not skipped once since I bought it, with a great sound (ok, so the included phones are a bit bulky) and great navigation. I burn my CDs using Easy CD Creator and most of my stuff has ID3 tags, however, that was no problem since I selected ID3 instead of FIF in the menu and the player read all my CDs without any problem at all. Maybe its style is a bit funny, but it is certainly what I was looking for and so far I am very happy with it. By the way, my advice is this: if you are looking for a great MP3 player and cannot pay more than $100 for it, I suggest you go for the MOJO...or the RIOVOLT 90, although when I saw this one upclose I thought I was looking at a kid's toy or something. Hope my review will be useful to you.
Rating: Summary: Way cool for two weeks Review: I purchased this mp3-cd player for a road trip so was not to concerned about size (about the same as all cd players). It worked flawlessly for the trip. well about two weeks later it started to turn itself on and drain the batteries. I never dropped it split anything on it in fact it never left my car. The only way to keep it from starting up is to turn the hold button on. very cheep the eject does not even push the lid up you have to pull it open while pushing the eject button to the side try doing that and drive at the same time. buy an IPod
Rating: Summary: No complaints so far! Review: I almost bought a rio volt but thought the TDK Mojo had better features and generally looked more durable, I think I made the right decision. I have had absolutely no skipping whatsoever, unless you are really banging it around when it started reading the next song (in Mp3 mode) that it does skip some, once the song is read into memory it will not skip. Headphones are decent, although I personally like the old-fashioned type that go over your head instead of behind, hard to lay down sometimes! Battery life seems good so far with the supplied batteries, I used it for about 7 or 8 hours while flying back and forth to Florida and still had two out of three bars on the battery meter. I think the 5 hour reports are from standard alkaline batteries, it comes with Duracell Ultras. The fact that it will not play packet written discs should be of no concern, just use a cd-burning application instead of using it like a floppy (quicker too) and the FIF file conversion does not alter the files at all, just the filenames, they are still Mp3's. Filenames become Artist-Song-Genre. I do wish they would have had Album in there also, that can be displayed through the directory look-up though. It is very easy to use from the start, I took it out, put the batteries in, popped in a cd and pressed play, navigation is simple as are most other controls. Generally a good product as usual from TDK!
Rating: Summary: TIME BOMB!!! Review: I bought the mojo a little over a year ago and we've had the best of times together -- that is, until recently. To begin with my mojo absolutely refused to play either MP3 cds or normal audio cds, making extremely annoying whirring sounds In other words, after a year (more or less) of use -- my mojo cutout and refuses to function (after being treated with the utmost respect). It's a complete waste of money -- DONT PURCHASE IT!!!!
Rating: Summary: Only plays MP3 CDs well Review: For playing MP3 CDs, the MOJO does almost everything I need and more; it's really a great CD player for the price... It has so many good features. Missing, however, is the capability to fast forward and rewind while playing MP3s. The fast foward and rewind work while playing normal audio CDs, but you can't hear where you're at until you stop fast forwarding or rewinding and play the CD, unlike almost all other CD players that I have used. When playing my normal audio CDs, my MOJO skipped a lot and every now and then would just stop in the middle of a track. My Memorex basic CD player plays these CDs perfectly fine. Because I have so much trouble listening to normal audio CDs, I am going to return this CD player and buy something else.
Rating: Summary: Some minor problems, Review: Just got this thing, and I'm generally pleased, however there are few things that I would change about it. Pros: Backlit screen is awesome. Navigation with buttons and in menus is easy and intuitive. Headphones are not bad though cord is a little short. Comes with batteries! Cons: Contrary to what it says above, you can't navigate by album, it's just Title, Artist, or Genre, or you can navigate through the directory structure. The directory structure navigation is especially useful if you use the following structure: Artist->Album->Songs. Making a playlist is easy and very useful, but you can't specify any order to the songs in the playlist. With random mode off, they are played in the order they were burned to the CD, which might be annoying if your CD burning software burns the files in an arbitrary order like mine does. This means there is no way to tell the player to play songs in the normal order on an MP3 album. I haven't tried the included software yet, maybe that burns the files in alphanumeric order, I'll report back. I really wish there was a way to queue up songs though. Renaming all my mp3 files is tedious. The Navitrack software doesn't automate the conversion of mass files to the proper naming format unless the ID3 tags are setup right, and mine are certainly not. The plug for the AC power source is not the same size as the one that goes with the tape/cig lighter/car kit power plug I have, it's slightly smaller. Why can't they just make them all the same size? Be aware that you may need a TDK compliant car kit. The AC adapter plug also doesn't stay snug, it's a right angle plug, and it likes to turn itself with the cord pointing down, which interferes with the surface it's resting on. Wow I'm pretty picky. Despite these minor compatability issues and left out features, the player works really well, and what it does offer is pretty impressive for such a low price. The bluish 4-line display and interface really make it fun to browse through your music.
Rating: Summary: Often fails to play audio CD's Review: While the Mojo performs well with MP3 discs, it will certainly disapoint you when you play a regular audio CD. No matter it is a factory CD or your own recorded one, if it is not new it will fail playing too often, even my little daughter cheap CD player has a better performance. Yes, I tried cleaning the lens!
Rating: Summary: EATS BATTERIES Review: ...If you look at the specs, Sony gives 40 hours of play on a pair of AA. TDK claims 10 hours with "high quality batteries" or some such thing. In reality, I usually got about 2 cds out of a pair of batteries, 3 if they were good. Thats so unnaccpetable as to be ridiculous...I don't intend to ever buy anything else from them except blank cds and cassettes.
Rating: Summary: This Cd/mp3-Player Is Sketchy Review: Look, I'm not the kind of person to complain. However, when the job isn't getting done, I get angry. For just over one year, this Cd-player was the love of my life. Just after the warrentee(sp?) expired, the cd-player died. It refuses to play any cd, audio or mp3. It will hardly boot. It's a major problem. I never dropped it.
