Rating: Summary: Another great from Sony Review: Before I purcased this product, I had a sony that was made in 1996 when 3-sec. anti-skip was top of the line, and I just got tired of it skipping every couple minutes for 3-5 sec. So I was shopping around for a new CD player. I figured to get a Sony, because they have the best anti-skip technologies. price is great...and this CD player is worth every penny...Pro's - ANTI SKIP g-protection...need I say more? automatic resume feature - when the player is turned off (and you don't open the lid) the next time you turn the player on, it starts on the track and time that you left off with when you turned the unit off bass boost - while this one is not as great as even a model 5 years old...it still has one as many Sony's nowadays dont! lid opener on side - the lid wont pop open if you have the unit in a bookbag etc. digital volunme control - no more volume changes while the unit is in a bookbag etc. con's - if you hold the player with the handstap (included w/ the player), and you move your hand, the battery door may come open, but the batteries won't come so no big deal Simply the greatest CD player available with g-protection that won't cost you a fortune! Worth every penny!
Rating: Summary: An outstanding machine Review: I am amazed by the reviews that i have read this is quite an outstanding machine I bought mine from Sony central about 4 months ago not once not even once has this thing skipped right now as I am writing this I am shaking it and it won't skip this is incredible. The battery life is imense the re-chargable batteries last it seems forever they never stop. It has 2 levels of bass which are quite honestly moderate nothing special the hold button is quite useful when the discman is in your pocket so that it does not push the volume or skip buttons on the machine. Still not even now has it skipped has i have been shaking it amazing some problems though after a while the lid becomes a bit loose and the head phones are crap just buy some street style head phones for it and it is perfect forget about the DEJ01 I would take the DEJ611 any day.
Rating: Summary: Three plus years later Review: I bought my player in late 1999. It has has been all over the world since then. It has been dropped and knocked around a fair bit (not a mark on it). I take it everywhere with me and never workout without it being wrapped around my waist. Do yourself a favour...if you are looking for the "Hum V" of portable CD players, then buy this model.
Rating: Summary: One of the most durable cd players i have ever seen Review: I can't believe this cd player still works. I have had my CD walkman forever, I put alot of punishment on my cd players and this one came through with flying colors. I have it forever, and i suggest you go out and buy it, buy it right now! I am an outdoors person and go backpacking quite frequently and I take it with me. On a certain ocasion in New Orleans on Burbon Street i dropped a few times, dont ask, any way it was unscathed. This cd player is built like a rock. If your looking for a wonderful cd player that will last you a life time i suggest you get this one.
Rating: Summary: Its alright Review: I have heard bad things about this product, but most of them arent true. People say that it pauses for a few seconds, and continues to play, this is not so. I tested this with my burned cds, orginal, and scratched old cds i had. It still wouldnt skip. The only time it skips is when i vigorosly shake it for about 1minute, but i think its because the cd slow down, and becomes hard to read. People told me that the sound isnt as loud as other players. I didnt really notice a difference probaly because of the earbuds that came with it. The bass boast doest work really well, for it to work good, the volume should be at around 4i, anything after that will sound distored. Thats like the only problem i have with this unit. The battery life is excellent. i had some near dead batteries and it worked for long with this unit. the indicator said 2/4 and its been like that for like 12hours of listening to it. I had a koss 40sec discman and its so huge and ugly. It also had problems reading some cds i had, the sony unit read them fine. When you turn the g-protection off, it still barly skips. I highly recommend this as a gift for anyone who wants a portable cd player
Rating: Summary: Good but a slight problem Review: I heard a bunch of good reviews for this CD player. But When I got mine I found out that the head phones arn't all that great, so I bought new ones. That didn't really bother me much. The reason I got this CD player was because it was suppose to be rugged and tuff for I could bike or jog with it. Well one day I rode my bike 1 or 2 miles and when I stoped to take a break I turned my CD player off and when I turned it back on the volume woulden't adjust right. It said it was on 10 but it sounded like like it was on 5. Then I turned it to 0 but is still sounded like 5. So I sadly had to return mine. But it does have many different features just it's not as loud as some CD players but still very close. So basically if you want to buy a strong durable CD player that you can jog or bike with I recomend you don't get this one.
Rating: Summary: Excelent player Review: I purchased this player in Sept. and have had no problems since. The anti-skip is awesome! I swear you cannot make the thing skip. The sound is excelent, and the two-step bass boost makes it even better. It's also very durable, I dropped it on the concrete in our garage and it worked fine after that. Just a few scratches. All-in-all you cannot beat the quality of this player for its price. Sony has definitely made a good product.
Rating: Summary: The reason why Sony is on top of the CD player market Review: I recently purchased this CD player and let me say I am impressed. Sony are the best people to buy a CD player from. This paticular choice has completly eliminated CD skipping for me. I have had no trouble with this. I like the fact that the volume is a digital dial. This means you can put the hold feature on and you won't be able to change the volume unlike old CD players that have a dial. The digital volume is helpful in another way too. An example would be, you know when you put your CD player in your pocket and the volume is where you want it. But when you take out the CD player, your pocket catches the volume dial turning it way upo or very low. That is not a problem anymore. I really thought that the hand strap idea was great too. Sometimes you might drop your cd player but if you have the strap on, no problems! The shape is very small and convient. And 32 hours of battery life is very good. I congratulate Sony on this product. Quite a bargin!

Rating: Summary: The only review you need to read. Review: I've been a Sony fan for a while now, but they really let me down with this one. I bought the D-EJ611 about a month ago. After a week the headphones got a loose connection in them so I brought it back to where I purchased it and got a new one. I was hoping some of the problems I had with the first one would be gone in the new one. They weren't. The first problem that I have (along with every other owner, it seems) is the headphones. The fall off easily and leak a lot. Next, the player is a but noisy. I tried sleeping in the room with someone while I was using it and it made a low frequency irregular humming that annoyed my roomy. I can hear it too between tracks. Also, when I have a scratch on a CD, it will either go over it a bunch of times or just become silent for literally almost 30 seconds and just continue over the scratch. I've tried it in other portable and home CD players and I have never experienced a similar problem. Also, on certain tracks of some CDs, I noticed a light "clicking" sound that I never heard on any other CD player and other people have noticed it on mine. I find it extremely annoying. I kind of want something to go wrong with it so I can return it and get another brand. I think it's just the G-Protection. But, I must confess it has decent sound and bass(although the volume isn't loud enough at max.) and great battery life. So, I can only recommend you don't buy the Sony D-EJ611.
