Review: O.K., The sounds quality is great and I'm impressed with the startup time of the mp3 files but the lack of ID3 tags is very annoying. Also, a resume would be VERY useful to me, but i guess with a little memorization it wont be a problem.

+ Takes everything. CBR, VBR, various bitrates.
+ Fastest startup times I've seen on any MP3 CD player yet. Under 3-5
seconds for all discs. Just like a regular CD player! Controls are fast
and responsive - just like you'd expect and know from any regular
Philips audio CD portable. Song to song & folder to folder navigation
is as quick as you can press FF/RW and can be done blind. FF/RW within
a song is instantaneous so you can easily review audio books and
language lessons easily.
+ Sensible number-only folder/track navigation. So sensible that you
don't even regret not having ID3 tag display at all after a few hours of
use. Just press the Next/Prior Folder or Next/Prior Song buttons to
navigate all the folders and songs on your CD.
+ Solid battery door latch.
+ Analog audio level dial! Perfect adjustment of audio levels quickly
and easily w/o any trouble at all.
+ Cute orange LCD display. Clear and easily readable at most angles,
easy to understand.
+ Beep when any button is pressed can be turned on/off.
+ ESP can be turned off to lengthen battery life.
+ Even better shock support than prior 45 sec. Philips regular audio CD
portables.
+ Belt Clip to attach player to belt included.
+ Three level battery remainging meter when on. Nice, you'll know when
your 20 hours are up.
+ Nice pearl white cover with orange LCD color.
+ Battery door on outside.
+ A complete printed manual.
+ works, just like a regular CD audio portable player. Fast, quick,
convenient everything.- Resume feature doesn't work if you leave unit off for longer than a few minutes. Goes back to the first song =(
- No ID3 tag support. Still, despite how nice it is, would be nice if
they had put it in. But I'm not really missing this right now.
- Kinda funky earbuds with a dimple to help direct bass into your ears.
Okay, but odd looking, not the most comfy. Works.
- Noticable background hiss when DBB bass boost is turned on on MP3
discs. Might as well just leave it on the default setting.
- No backlight.

Summary: jostle it as much as you wish and it wont skip !!!
Review: Philips expanium is a very reliable product. As much as you should look at the length of skip buffer, you should also check the quality of CD drive mechanism. Philips has good quality mechanism that can withstand shocks and recover faster. I had tried putting this player in my short pocket and jogging with it and it worked just fine !!! I did the same with TDK mojo and mojo TOTALLY stopped playing. If you are looking for a reliable player this is it.

Great earbuds.
Great two step bass sounds.
Great sound
Easy to control an learn.
Size is ok.
Batteries life can last 10+ hours by using two 1600mah rechargeable batteries.
Anti-shock improved (I hate EXP201, what a junk of the anti-skip system, cannot walk fluently) EXP301 is better, you can carry it do little jogging, no problem on walking.
Con:
The price is high, compares to EXP201. With this price I can add $$ get a Sony D-cj01 or TDK mojo or others have IDs tags.
As above no ID tags and back-light.
Annoying resume and hold button. Now I own a HD player archos 10 jukebox, which is good. but too expensive. Thinking about returning.

Summary: Basic features, killer performance
Review: Pros: - Fabulous earbud-type headphones with incredible bass response.
- Great battery life - I'm going on six hours on the first set of batteries.
- Simple and very effective belt clip.
- DOES NOT SKIP, even with buffer protection *off* walking briskly with belt clip.
- Great price. Cons (none of which bother me given the price): - No text display.
- Two second silence gap between MP3 tracks (I think all of 'em do this).
- The "hold" feature doesn't work all the time--I think it forgets after several hours of inactivity. Sumary: If this is in your price range, buy it. I am absolutely loving mine.

Summary: Excellent Overall Player - Probably Best Value Of Any
Review: This player has surpassed all (but one) of my expectations for playability (never skips, rapid track access, seamless navigation, and quality sound) and the randomization feature is well designed (it allows disks organized into folders to be randomized within them or the entire disk can be randomized); also, it appears to be a true randomizer (does not play the same "random sequence" for the same disk every time). Unfortunately, like the one other review I read for this player, I have not had good luck with the resume function - seems to only resume from last point if play is activated within minutes - not hours as one might expect. Overall, in my opinion, the best MP3 CD player for the money (don't spend less, and spend more only for the Philips EXP500 series w/ ID3 tag support - the one I'm considering next!)
