Rating: Summary: CD Player for all seasons Review: After lots of reasearch online, This one turned out oto be the best for me, and it's $20 less than the other ones. It has great skip protection, a hold function, a battery indicator that works, and it's incredibly thin. And its a lot cheaper than other translucent CD Players. This is a great Buy, even through this site, and that says something.
Rating: Summary: Problems with CD-R's Review: Be very careful about what type of CD-R's you are going to use in this product. It can be very picky about which it will play, usually playing green/blue, but having alot of trouble with unbearable skipping with gold, especially cheap brands. The anti-skip usually won't work with such problem CD's. However, on MOST CD-R's, it works great, and with regular CD's, it works perfectly. It's your choice.
Rating: Summary: skip protection is less than desired Review: I am a runner. I bought this CD player because of the electronic skip protection. The players skips like crazy. I am very happy with the sound. But if you are running or something similar that jolts the unit, it will skip very badly. Too bad it claims anti-skip, because it does not work.-Chuck
Rating: Summary: I'm enjoying this CD Player! Review: I bought this CD Play only on the recommendations her on Amazon.com and after listening to it for a while, I have to agree that it is a remarkable CD Player. I had two bad experiences with Sony portable players involving way too much skipping (without movement!). I treated those very carefully and they still skipped but I currently own two Philips personal CD Players, one for exercise and this one for everyday use and let me tell you, that sound and performance is very good. The options are great and since I've purchased Philips, I don't believe I'm going back to another Sony product.
Rating: Summary: This CD player NEVER SKIPS!!!!! Review: I bought this cd player a week ago and it is simply the best personal cd player I have ever used. The sound is grate (as long as you use some other hedphones than the ones suplied in the box) The battaries last for ever. But, best of all it will not skip I shook the thing untill it spun backwards and I never herd it skip. So, for the price you can't pass this one up.
Rating: Summary: Great CD Player if you buy good headphones Review: I bought this cd player after losing my previous Philips cd player, which was made two years ago. I decided on Philips instead of Sony or Panasonic because of my experience with my previous cd player. I dropped it onto the ground at least ten times. I was pretty amazed at how sturdy it was, even though its small size and light weight might make you think otherwise. Anyways, my first impressions when I listened to the new Philips cd player were that the sound was a little brighter (a good thing), the bass boost was digital (analog bass boost adds a little bit of fuzz in the background), and the cd player looked cool because you could see through it. I have two complaints though. The first one is that the buttons could have been placed a little better. I think the play button should be on the right side instead of the left and the searching buttons are hard to locate without looking. The other complaint is about the headphones. Although the headphones are very large and snug compared to the headphones that come with other players, these don't sound that great. In fact, they sound a little distorted. I recommend buying a nice pair of studio monitor headphones. Its better to spend your money on headphones rather than on a good cd player. Most portable cd players will produce relatively the same quality of sound. Your headphones are really what dictate how good the music will sound.
Rating: Summary: A good buy. Review: I bought this CD player and I have been pleased with it. It is nearly impossible to make the thing skip. The only problem was with the quality of the headphones included. They produce a less than quality sound and are bulky. I found it in my best interest to purchase a set of Sony headphones. The battery life is more than standard. I think I read about some feature that will charge rechargeable batteries if the ac adapter is in use a bonus. Overall I recommend the product.
Rating: Summary: Excellent, but I had a suggestion Review: I bought this Philips portable CD player because all of the CD players that I have don't play CDRW's. The only problem with this portable CD player is the battery compartment should be where the battery compartment of all of the other portable CD players are located.
Rating: Summary: Buy this CD Player Review: I bought this player after about a month of reading reviews and considering all the different brands and options, and I am sure that I made the right choice. This CD player is excellent for three main reasons. 1. Sound quality - It is outstanding. Others have reported distortion at max bass and volume levels. I think it may be the result of the headphones. The headphones that come with the player leave much to be desired. Go get a nice set of headphones and you will be able to hear the very high quality of this player. From rap to punk to rock to classical, it all sounds great in this player. 2. CDRW capability - It is extremely nice to have a player that you can use just one disc with. I just burn a mix that fits my mood that day, and the next day I can make another mix using the same disc, and this player plays them all! It saves me from burning a few hundred CDR's. If you have a burner you need this CD player. 3. Two great features - 3rd generation ESP and the hold feature. The ESP on this unit actually helps with battery life instead of sapping it. Add to that the fact that this thing just plain don't skip (even when held upside down), and the ESP on this player gets an A++++. The hold feature is just a little extra, but its really nice if you use the player in a backpack, hippack, or other place where the buttons could get inadvertently pushed. Cons? Like I said above, the headphones are subpar. Go buy a good pair and you will love this player. As far as the complaints about low volume, its made that way so that you won't have tinnitus in ten years. Put the DBBS on setting two, crank the volume up, and this player will meet your needs. Oh, and this think is amazingly light too....and....and.... I could keep going, but you get the picture. Simply put, buy this player right now! You'll be glad you did.
Rating: Summary: The Philips Blue CD Portable Review: I bought this player to replace my Sony portable that stopped working only a while after I bought it. ESP has come a long way since then. This player sports the 3rd generation of skip protection which is a whole lot more effective then in the past. It's not quite to the point where you can run with it(it can handle walking) but it will definitely take all the bumps in your car w/o skipping. It has nice features like resume, cdrw, and has a nice sleek blue design. The headphones are decent and seem to fit better when worn upside-down. It also plays all CD-R's perfectly. Sound is also real good, nothing to complain about(volume may not be enough for noisy situations). For this price this was the coolest and most functional player I could find. I only wish it had a lit up display for evening car trips but those usually come in the top of the line players.
