Description:

At merely an inch thick, Aiwa's XP-R230 is small enough to fit comfortably in most coat pockets. The player is outfitted with Aiwa's advanced EASS Plus (Electronic Anti-Shock System) and a digital AM/FM tuner with 30-station auto preset memory. Its heat-resistant body makes it a good choice for outdoor and automotive use. Advanced EASS Plus is superior to antishock systems that rely primarily on buffer memory. With an extended tolerance for horizontal motion and extremely precise laser servo control, Aiwa attacks the problem at the source. The laser pickup is far less likely to mistrack as a result of severe shock. And should mistracking occur, recovery time is much shorter. Combined with a 48-second digital buffer memory, this design significantly improves the player's ability to deliver uninterrupted music.

Aiwa's DSL (Dynamic Super Linear) bass circuitry is a sophisticated electronic equalizer that extends the headphones' low-frequency response. The amount of compensation is varied according to signal level to prevent distortion and to provide deep, natural-sounding bass at any listening level. The unit runs for an impressive 38 hours (with antiskip protection on) on two AA batteries and accepts alkaline or rechargeable batteries. Stereo headband headphones are included. Other features are a three-point battery-level indicator, alarm function, hold (which prevents unintended starting or stopping of playback), resume (which picks up where you last stopped playback), repeat play, random play, and 30-track program play.
