Summary: Soon to be even better
Review: Soon, Rio will come out with a firmware upgrade to the CD Player. This one will support M3U playlists. A beta (test) of this firmware is at ftp://ftp.diamondmm.com/pub/rio/riovolt. Download the 210 one.

Summary: Great little player for a little money!
Review: I have been looking at the Rio Volt since they came out but wasn't willing to spend the cash. I was really happy to see this stripped down version last week and had to buy it then. I really love this player! Using Musicmatch I was able to rip all of my Beatles CDs into MP3 format and copied all of them to one CD-R containing 213 songs! I made a CD-R for a party and never once had to worry about changing the CD.
The only issue I have had with the Rio Volt SP90 is with the firmware upgrade. The firmware upgrade adds some features I would like. I went to the RIO website and followed the directions but my player still will not upgrade beyond ver. 1.0.
I am still waiting to hear from Rio support.
Reguadless, I still am very happy with my purchase. If you want a inexpensive MP3 player and have a cd-burner, get the RIO VOLT!

Summary: this thing stinks
Review: i have a riovolt sp100, which is the same thing than this one. however this one is much cheaper. so i am very disappointed from sonicblue.
i think this player is the cheapest one in the market, so its a good deal if you get it.

Summary: You want stylish? You Got It!
Review: This is the best cd player ever. It never skips, is so stylish, and is just plain awsome! If your looking for something that you will really get a lot of use out of, you really should get this.
Thanks!

Summary: A very good basic MP3/WMA/CD Player
Review: This is the kind of product I've been waiting for!, if you hate those small MP3 players that just have 64MB or less then you'll love this, you can burn a CD-R (or even a CD-RW) with loads of MP3s and WMA files, and you can get more than 10 hours of music.
However you *need* a CD Burner to take advantage of this product, and there's a better version of this player that has more features, the one that's missing here is the support for WinAmp M3U playlists and a backlit LCD screen. But this is a very good choice, try it!

Summary: Durn Good Unit
Review: I have had my unit for 3 years now and the only problem in all that time is when the lid button to indicate closed position broke off. It was an easy fix and the unit still works to this day. Running a lens cleaner every now and then helps to keep the sound quality and readability up to par, also.
As for battery life; 12 hours using alkaline and 10 hrs with nimh, average. Higher bitrates tend to increase drain so I suggest 128 to 192 as the best range for battery life and sound quality.
WMA support is excellent and yes, you can use VBR for mp3.
I am planning on buying another one when this one finally up and dies on me.

Summary: Almost 2 years and still tickin!
Review: I bought this product from a local Best Buy after returning a couple of solid state mp3 players conked out on me. I was fed up with mp3 players, and decided to give this guy a shot: the ability to play mp3 CDs was appealing.

I have had this product for almost 2 years, and take it to Gym often. The good thing is that I have dropped this sucker many times and it still works. It certainly seems durable, at least with my experience.

The bad thing is this player is not motion friendly while skipping often. You can walk with it, even fast, but the minute you start running: skip, skip...Thus not very good on treadmills either. However, if you just want to read in coffee shop or stroll on the beach, this CD player works fine. The battery life is ok.

Finally, I have noticed that ever so often (very rarely), the player has a tendency to keep spinning while not playing the song. However, I don't know if it is because I have dropped it one too many times or it's just a faulty CD (even though it happens has happened with more than one brand of CD's).

All in all, this CD player is a decent product for its price, but it does have its faults.
