Rating: Summary: Happy, but could be happier. Review: This is the first portable MP3/CD player that I've owned and am more or less pretty happy with it. Has most of the features that I could possibly want. So far I've only used CD's and MP3 CD's and they play and sound great. Really impressed with the battery life as well. And it is light enough for me. Any more slim or lightweight and I think it would feel flimsy. Cons. -I had been looking at the cheaper model and was excited to see it had a built in radio. Then decided to go with this model for its boosted battery life and was shocked that it didn't have one built in. Not a huge deal. -Also, the open button can easily (unexpectedly) slide open in a coat pocket etc. Just have to be careful. -There is a pretty big volume/bass trade-off if you have it cranked all the way up. -Definitely buy new headphones, the ones included are garbage. Even a cheap pair of the Sony in-ear ones with their own volume switch work great. Helps with the bass issue too. -Lastly, the track name can be useless in the LCD screen since it will usually only show the band name when using the jog dial. Aside from the few small irritations, I'm happy with the player and would recommend it.
Rating: Summary: AWESOME PRODUCT!! Review: This product is AWESOME! I just got it the other day. I recommend it to anyone looking for a CD player with excellent sound quality, MP3 playback, or a lot of other features. I have not tried the ATRAC3 software but other ppl say it is no good. I personally prefer MP3 but thats up to you. I think that this CD player is a good choice. The headphones included stink but I have my own. It has a nice AVLS feature that limits your volume. If you don't like it you can turn the feature off. Overall this product is awesome but it isnt perfect so I cant give it a 5.
Rating: Summary: Great product, awful software Review: This walkman is a great product, even with severe bumps it does not skip a track. Very light and compact. BUT the software to record songs in ATRAC format is terrible: it is unstable and full of bugs! A great loss of time and totally inefficient (there is no option to save your work while preparing the songs, so when it crashes - very very likely to happen - you have to start over). ATRAC is supposed to be a better quality format than MP3, but Sony needs URGENTLY to release an upgrade to its SonicStage Simple burner 1.0.
Rating: Summary: The pinnacle of portable audio. Review: Well, when I first saw this player on Sony's website, I thought to myself, "This sounds like an awesome player." It mentioned such things as G-Protection, being able to play MP3, ATRAC3, and audio CDs. It looked totally awesome, and the specifications certainly backed it up on paper. Well, I put it on my birthday list, and I got it. I've ad it for approx. three days now, and I have been playing it continuously. Amazingly, and I do mean amazingly, the same batteries I put in it from the begining are STILL at 100% charge. This player has the longest battery life I've ever seen, and it completely eliminates that annoyance of going through batteries every time you listen to a CD in its entirety. The ATRAC3 format, although not the player itself, is also a very cool thing. The files are incredibly small, and at 64 Kbps (ATRAC3Plus), there is almost no distinction between it and a 128 Kbps MP3. It's a very cool format, and you an fit a lot of music on a CD. Now, burning bunches of CDs and having to browse through them may seem like a tedious task, but not with this player. The ATRAC3 format allows you to fit an incredible amount of music on a single CD, and the jog dial on the CD-player itself makes finding and selecting which tracks you want to listen to a breeze. Now, although the format is awesome, there seems to be a bit of a problem. If you scratch the CD lightly, or have a little spec of dust on it, it skips frequently. It's not as serious as most CD-players would make it out to be, but it minorly interrupts the music slightly. it's not too hard to remedy this problem: simply take the CD out and clean it. This CD player is by far the best I've ever used. The sound is awesome, the durability is awesome, and the battery life is surely unsurpasses. This player is for anyone who wants something that looks awesome, plays well, and plays well for a long time without tedious interchanging of CDs or batteries. Also, although it has been out for a long while, the G-Protection is a feature that I have just recently become acquainted with. On the setting of '1', I can shake the CD-player around very violently without a single skip in the music.
Rating: Summary: The New Wave Of Sony D-NE710 ATRAC3/MP3 Disc Player! Review: When I first starting looking at MP3 players, I was always very disappointed at how much money it was to expland your MP3 players memory. I was looking at around 100 bucks just to get about 490 music into one cd. I recently brought this wonderful player at Target and I was quite surprise it was one of the first ATRAC3 MP3 cd player. What a great idea for Sony. You get over 490 music on one cd and the cds only cost about 6 cents a piece. I've been a strong believer in sony discmans ever since the Sony D-CJ01 came out. I replace my d-cj01 to this ATRAC3/MP3, which deliever far better sound and style. Sony put their D-NE710 ATRAC3 MP3 cd player on the market and this discman really lives up to sony quality. Now you get Sony's long lasting battery life, 2 different levels or ATRAC3 and MP3 play back. The two different ATRAC3 settings give you these two choices: 1 small buffer and higher quality of music, and 2 large buffer and lower quality music. I have yet to hear the difference in the two qualities. While running the ATRAC3 proved to be better than my previous sony discmans the D-CJ01 and the DEJ62. I have yet to hear this ATRAC3 skip while playing MP3 cds. It's been dropped, dragged, smashed but the player keeps on going. One of the coolest features of the ATRAC3 cd is that the cd itself stops after about 10 seconds of spinning and doesn't start up again for another minute and a half. Making it impossible to skip during that time and also impresses your friends. Sony's ATRAC3 lets you listen to about 72 hours of normal music and about 48 hours of MP3 format music give or take depending on the batteries you are using. Rechargable batteries have significantly lower battery times. This CD player shows next generation Sony quality. I'm glad I waited for sony to come out with a ATRAC3 cd player. A must BUY!
