Summary: Quality item
Review: I have previously owned three different MP3 players and this one is definetly the best. The shock protection is great; I've never experienced it skipping during regular movement ie: walking / running. I've even dropped it and my music doesn't skip. It's easy to use, and the battery life is excellent. Its only down side is that it doesn't have a built in radio and the battery charger was not included. But as far as MP3 quality is concerned, I wouldn't purchase a different model.

Summary: Too bad I did not give it 5 stars
Review: I just bought the DNE-710 mp3/cd player. This is my third mp3 player. I bought this because my friend got it and I was amazed at how user friendly it was. What got me the most was how the id3 tags are seen on the little lcd screen so I know what song is playing and what song I want to play at any time. Also 400 songs per cd ain't that bad from what I hear.

The reason why I did not give 5 stars is the buring software that came with this player. I decided to test out my newly bought player with an mp3 cd. I made a 53 mp3 cd. When I hit the burn button displayed then it was a wait. Well not the usually 10-20 min wait for all burning programs. It was a 2-3 hour wait. This was just 53 songs. I emailed sony and hope they will get back to me about this.

The good-This Mp3/Cd player rocks and everyone should have it!
The ugly-Make sure you rent a movie or two while burning an mp3 cd because if not you will be bored for a few hours. I hope sony can give me a reason for this very slow process.

Summary: I really love this little thing.
Review: I just got mine a couple of days ago. It is really beutifull gadget. It plays cd and mp3s very well, I did not try the Atrac3 files yet; The file navigation system works wonderfully; It is even smaller than I first thought; A very Well made product.

One word of caution before you buy, you need a carrying case to go with it. It seems a little delicate, you could drop the sucker and loose $100.

I really like it.

Summary: great product and weights less than a pound!
Review: i just got the atrac3 for christmas and i can say one thing i LOVE it. first off its really REALLY light and it has many features. the sound is bangin when at all bass there is no fuzziness in the sound like in other cd/mp3 players.the headphones that they come with are really small lightweight and when you turn the volume up other people wont get bothered as much cause of the fact that the sound really stays only to your ears and doesnt sound off into the area your in like other headphones. i like that the mp3 player has a 3-line dot matrix (which means theres 3 lines of writing instead of 2). and lastly i really like the spinner dial (when you turn it it scrolls through your songs and then when you get to the one you want you push enter) because if your using the older model like the one used to have it would take forever to get from song-2-song cause when you are using an mp3 cd the cd stops spinning when your listening to a song(so that it saves the battery life) so when you pushed forward the cd would have to resume spinning and then it would take like 10 seconds too get to the next song! so now all i do is pick the song i want with the spinner dial and click enter instead of taking forever going through every song. in conclusion this cd/mp3 player is a really great item and should be bought for anyone with alot of mp3 songs or even cds!

Summary: Decent MP3 player
Review: I picked this model up at BestBuy after reading the reviews here, and have to say I agree with the general consensus that it is an excellent player.

I use it primarily for mp3s (loud heavy metal), and have to say it sounds good enough to me (although i've never been much of an audiophile).

My only gripes are, the included headphones are cheap garbage... And there is no way to bookmark specific locations within a file. This would have come in handy for audiobooks in mp3 format... usually single tracks can be up to an hour or more in length. Thankfully it picks up where you left off when you stop playback (assuming you didn't open the CD cover in the meantime), and there is a fast-forward function that works in mp3s, but rather slowly (approx. 10-15 seconds to scan through a minute of audio.)

One last gripe would be that it only displays the first 8 characters of file/folder names when using the jog dial. Would be better if they scrolled it or something (the way it scrolls ID3 tags during playback).

Overall a very nice player, and a great alternative to the pricey ipods and archos players (and technically, without the hindered storage capacity as well).

Summary: For the price, it's nice...
Review: I picked up this CD player after my beloved iRiver Slim-350x died on me. I loved that CD player, you can go read my review and see for yourself. But after much deliberation, I decided not to buy another iRiver, because a lot of people have complained about the life of their disc players. So I went ahead and got this disc player, and I am quite happy with it.

The player sounds nice, and you have some limited control over bass, but not treble. That is one thing that irks me about the majority of portable CD players, is that they have such limited sound control. But it's not a problem here, because this player sounds great. I also like the menu structure, and the jog dial makes it easy to get around. I wish the display was backlit, and I tried to cure that by purchasing Sony's MD/CD remote from AudiCubes.com. With my great luck I learned that the remote does not work with this disc player, so I don't have any way of reading the display in the dark. The display is very clear and shows all the info you need from the id3 tag. The skip protection works great, you actually have to try and make it skip. If Sony puts "G-Protection" on something, you would need to put it through a chocolate milk commercial before it will skip. Also the disc player is cool looking, and not too bulky. My favorite feature is the battery life. 95 hours if you are playing MP3's, and I believe it. It takes me a week of use before the power meter goes down. The player also supports rechargeable batteries, which is great it you have an ac adapter, or battery recharger.

My only real complaints are the lack of a backlight, limited sound control, and also the 1-2 second delay between switching songs/directories. Those complaints are all very minor for this great sounding and looking disc player. At its price tag, you won't find a better deal. Now the real question is whether or not I like the better than my iRiver. I would have to say they are nearly equal, but the iRiver just has so many features, it's hard not life that one a little better. Non-the-less, I am very happy with the player I have (the Sony, incase you weren't following).

Summary: A Cheap CD Player Without the Cheap Price
Review: I purchased this CD player because I wanted the long play time without changing CD's. I was going to buy a Minidisc Player, but hesitated to because of its linux incompatibility. I regret buying this product greatly for the following reasons:
1)It is neither Stylish or Ultra-slim. While the site claims it is thin and sylish in reality it is as thick as any other cd player because it needs to take AA batteries, In regards to style, the top is silver and fancy looking, but the bottom half which there are no photos of is just plain old white plastic.
2) While this CD player is pretty expensive, it still has terrible build quality. The controls feel terrible and as though they are about to break with each push, and the jog wheel is even worse. If you are commited to buying an CD MP3 player buy a cheaper model, increased quality to go with the higher price is simply not present.
3) The volume control is difficult to use in comparison to a simple wheel

The Possitives are, it has not broken yet, the shock protection is good so far, and it does indeed play MP3's and ATRAC's.

Summary: Great features and Price
Review: I saved up to buy this player recently and was rather surprised that it cost so little,(In comparison to others with similar features.)and had such great features. The thing that caught my eye was the battery life (Claimed 95 hours), the fact that it had Mp3 and Atrac3plus playback. Although it is chunkier and not as sexy as the others availible, it does the job in terms of functionality. I have never used Atrac3plus before, but it was a simple(if time consuming) process. The software provided for this was easy to understand. I was able to burn over a 100 mp3 tracks on to a single CD. The box claims 490 songs can be burned to CD using the Atrac3plus system. This statement is subject to many conditions. bit Rate has to be at an appaling 48kbs, songs must be no longer than 4mins, et cetera. But unless you really need 490 song on a CD this won't be much of a concern. A good 300 songs can be fitted, with a decent bit rate and duration. The headphones supplied are the usual Sony phones, with a non-LCD remote, which would have been useful. They're a little uncomfortable to start with, but get better as you get used to them. Soun on these is very good, even with low bit files. The product on the whole is great, with a few niggles. If you don't mind having only 300 tracks on a Cd, and can do without a handy carring case and the bland design, this is a fantastic buy.

Summary: Hasn't Skipped Once
Review: I took this CD Player on a backpacking trip in the Grand Canyon. I walked 40 miles while listening to it. It never skipped once. It was stuffed in my backpack while walking. With all of the shifting around, it NEVER changed its volume, stopped or skipped a track from a accidental button press.
