Review: I just received my player yesterday and I love it. It is the best cd player I have ever had. Some people say that they skimp on the instructions they give you plenty and other people say that it skips a lot but it doesn't. It hasn't skipped for me at all and I have been listening to just regular cds and that has the littlest amount of protection and still no skipping. The batteries are the coolest kind you will ever see. The remote desplays everything that I would want. There are 2 different holb buttons, one on the player and the other on the remote. If there was one thing that I would change about this player it would be to put a LCD screen on the player as well and all the funtions of the remote on there. Because if the remote does happen to break then you will have to shell out another 30 bucks. I am not saying the remote is weak at all. There is nothing that I have found wrong with the player yet and if there is then I will be sure to post it. If there is any doubts about getting this player over the this one over the RioVolt sp250 I would definately say go with this one. An extra tidbit of info that I found out about both players as I was researching them is that they are both made by the same company.

Review: Wonderful CD Player, it's slim, it plays mp3 (reads ID3 tags and browsable), CDA, stereo FM tuner, and even has visualization plus graphic equalizer. A little bit pricey but sure it worths.

Review: It's absolutely wonderful. I got it three days ago and I am in love with it. It is very complex, but simple to use. So far I haven't seen a single negative thing about it. I have read people complain that it did not come with a good carrying case, but I like the velvet bag it came with, because it can hold the earphones, remote control, and external battery back. I also don't find the earphones to be uncomfortable, as some other people have complained. Besides, you can use any type of headphones you want. I just burned my first MP3 CD yesterday. It plays perfectly on the SlimX. I also downloaded the new firmware software from iRiver's website. It was simple to install and it was a noticeable improvement over the previous version. Overall, this product is FANTASTIC!

Summary: Superb Piece Of Equipment
Review: Iv'e had this baby for about 2 months now and not once has it skipped on me. The company's site is always changing, so you know they are around, unlike Rio's site. They (the company) listen to all the customers' comments and make Firmware upgrades according to some of they stuff they say (we may soon be playing Tetris on this thing, i hope). And remember that Iriver is the same company where Rio gets the Riovolt from Rio just repackages it and calls it another name. And for all of those who complain about the player itself not having a LCD screen, it was not designed to have one, i personally think it's fine, i keep it in my pocket all the time and it's unusually (which is a good thing) comfortable. This player also sounds superb (listen to jazz or classical music on this thing (may i recommend Miles Davis "Kind Of Blue")....

Summary: Check out the lines
Review: look around there are a lot of mp3 cd players out there but I can't imagine one of them putting a finger on this one. Granted I've only had this a couple of days but I did two weeks of research before I came to this one. I looked at all the other players I even considered going minidisc but then I found out about this one. Honestly forget about how slim it is or how cool the remote is. For the serious listener only two things matter with portable audio how does it sound and how long will it play. well I'm very pleased with this machine on both fronts. The discharger/recharger really extends the life of rechargable batteries. As for the sound I can say that it's as good as you can get considering they are mp3.
a few special notes the vbr function is great but doesn't support all vbr's yet so be carefull. it works fine with musicmatch's but cannot recognize audiocatalyst's. Which is a shame but as long as you know this your in the clear.
my one suggestion apply's to all portable audio. If you can get some kind of extended warranty for it there is nothing worse than having a great device stop working and then having nothing to show for your money but a paper weight

Summary: A great buy for music cd's and mp3's
Review: I originally bought the Nomad Jukebox a while back when the price was 500 dollars. I ended up regretting the purchase because I was limited with what the Nomad could do. I was skeptical on buying another MP3 player until I talked to one of my friends who also purchased the I-River MP3 player. I just went on a trip for 6 days and this product pretty much did everything I wanted, plus more. I listened to my mp3 disks with about 170 songs each on them. The title, name of song, and all the mp3 info. is listed on the screen. The screen is small but does a great job. The screen illuminates so it is easy to see at night. It took practically no time at all for the mp3 disk to load with all of my songs. I got tired of listening to the disk, so I tried out the FM tuner. The tuner works great also. I was in Las Vegas and picked up all the stations I was looking for. The earbuds are small, but do produce nice sound. I would recommend buying bigger headphones though. I used the player for 12 hours a day and never had the batteries die. The batteries last for over 12 hours easily. I would highly recommend this product to anyone who is into music.

Summary: High Quality Features and Sound
Review: I have been using my new iRiver SlimX for 5 days now, and have to say that it's the best music investment I've made in years. As the other reviews mention, the SlimX is sleek, high-quality, has great features. Here are some points I would like to mention:* The remote is excellent - it is fairly easy to use, although it does take some getting used to. The user manual does a good enough job explaining it, but if you upgrade the firmware (explained later) some of the manual is obsolete. The LCD on the remote is excellent, even though some of the text is way too small if you have less than perfect vision. * There are several preset EQs, and you have the ability to create a custom EQ, with total control of the bass and treble settings. This made a major impact on the quality of sound of several 192kbps MP3s that I made. It also made all of the MP3s and CDs that I play in my car sound that much better. * I didn't try the earbud headphones, because as a general rule, I hate earbuds. I don't like the way they feel in my ear. So I use a high end pair of Sony headphones, which sound just great when I use this player. * Upgradability - I love the fact that you can upgrade the firmware on the player. I upgraded to 2.00 (for free), which you can get on the iRiver website. The upgrade process was easy, and the remote features were expanded notably. The menu layout was different, and easier to navigate after upgrade. * The only drawback I have been able to find is the lack of an AC adapter for a car cigarette charger. I'm leery of "universal chargers", so I'd like the manufacturer to make one. However, with the rechargeable batteries and extra AA battery module (which fits nicely into a CD player case) I have more than enough power on hand. This is a great buy. MP3/CD players are really a "you get what you pay for" category these days. The [low price] units that sell at department stores just aren't in the same category of sound quality or features. This player is worth the [more].

Summary: Buy it.... You won't regret it
Review: This product is for those people who enjoy having LOADS of music at their disposal, you can play your usual music CDs as well as burned CD-Rs or CD-RWs with MP3 or WMA files, and as an added bonus it has a built-in FM receiver to listen to common radio. That's a lot more than any portable CD player will do, and with a competitive price. To make it even more desirable, it has all the features (shuffle, repeat, program, resume, power off timer, and hold -button lock-) and functions that the best CD players feature as well as a back-lit LCD screen remote control that has full functionality, and a line output so you can plug it to a stereo, pro-amplifier or car-stereo (adapter cables not included) and share the wonders. If you are worried about skipping, you need not to, because it has an excelent anti-shock protection system (you may turn it off to save battery life), 180 sec on music CDs, and 450 on MP3s, I haven't been able to make it skip with normal shaking. In terms of power it works with long-life rechargeable batteries (included) common 2xAA common alkaline battery in an external cilinder-shaped adapter, or you can just plug it to the wall outlet with the included AC adapter with so many options, you can never run out of juice. In the downside.. I can only say, three things:
1) The included earphones are in my opinion extremely unconfortable, but that is easily solved, and you can use any kind of earphones you get your hands on (you can even use two earphones at once, by plugging them into the line out jack).
2) It has no belt clip, and it comes with a string pouch, which is completely useless for jogging and training, so you'll have to find some other way to carry it around, but it's so small and light that thats not too much of a problem either.
3) The third issue is with the instruction manual... it seems there was a shortage of english-speaking people, the time it was translated, so don't expect it to be too clear. Anyway, it has so many functions, that you'd have to use it for some time to learn them all. I've been using my iRiver Slim X for 2 weeks and its awesome. I've had no problems at all. I've burned my whole MP3 collection in common CDs (each disc will hold 650Mb worth of MP3s, which is about 160 to 180 songs). And haven't had any problems with any of the files, even if they are in different bitrates (quality).
The startup spin, will obviously take longer than with ordinary music CDs as it has to read the whole directory, but it is really quick, less than 10 seconds, which is better than any other mp3-player I've seen. I am an extremely satisfied customer.

Summary: Great features, but good only if you are less active
Review: I gave the iRiver a solid try. The build quality of this unit is decent, but iRiver is a new company, with HQ in Korea - so there are a couple issues that I'm sure the company is working on. First, some PROs: (1) excellent feature base (remote controls all features including eq, balance, backlighting, vol, toggle modes), (2) good sound quality, (3)tuner is a plus, (4)firmware is upgradeable - you download a patch and burn it to a CD and run it. (5) You can use the CD player without the remote (if you find the remote too cumbersome). My list of CONs: (1) Proprietary NiMH stick batteries (while you can use your own AA batteries, it uses a cumbersome adapter; I like to use my own NiMH AA batteries) (2)Skip, skip, skip even on a gentle walk with multiple CD's (I find Sony's G-shock superior to iRiver's - I roadtested the Sony D-CJO1 - no skips!) (3) No wrist strap included (4) Long load times for each song in MP3 mode (approx 5-10 seconds). (5) Tuner is decent at best (in downtown Chicago, I got only 50% of stations that I usually get with my other AM/FM walkman. Thus, summing it all up, great feature base, but build quality and especially anti-skip technology could be better. Thus, I found the iRiver only adequate for use at home or when I'm not moving around.
