Summary: Friendly attitude and half the price
Review: A big Thank You to the customers who reported TurboTax's ugly activation code system. With TurboTax, you get one install only, and that's it.
When you upgrade to a new computer you'll lose access to your old TurboTax tax returns because your one-time install activation will have been used up. They can keep their attitude and their products.
I've switched to TaxCut Home & Business and it costs less than half the TurboTax alternative, as I would have needed their Basic as well as their Business packages.

Summary: Avoid this spyware to save yourself trouble
Review: After perhaps a decade of buying and using TT, I have to recommend avoiding it. Trouble include leaving behind running (and slowing your machine down) stuff, even after uninstallation. Forget about carrying it to a different machine for last minute printouts, etc. I am not against copy protection ala WindowsXP, but this reeks to high heaven!!

Review: As a an accountant and computer enthusiast, I praise Intuit for taking steps to support and protect TurboTax from people who think they can rise above the copyright protection laws. If you cannot follow Intuit's instructions about only being able to SUBMIT returns from one of your many computers, you probably should hire an accountant ($$$$) to file your return.Used as intended, TurboTax is a fantastic product for a great price.

Summary: package was missing the Product Key
Review: At my own postage expense I had to return TurboTax Business 2002 to Intuit for a refund. I'm going to by a replacement copy, but I'm not happy about it.

Review: Due to product activation I cannot recommend this product. It requires me to purchase an additional copy of the software just to use it on my laptop. I certainly won't be buying QuickBooks or any other Intuit product after this. The instructions saying you can install to multiple machines are FALSE!

Summary: Excellent Software, Even Saves Tax Returns as PDF File
Review: Excellent software, had no problems installing or using the software. Sure the new version does require an activation code but so do many other packages due to unauthorized sharing of the software, and you can get the code via phone if you do not have internet access. All in all an excellent package. If you want to print on another computer just save the return as an adobe acrobat PDF (PDF format is built into software now) and print it.

Review: Here's my experince: Every year I am anxious to get TurboTax to start preparing my taxes. So when I saw it on sale in December, I had to immediately get it, a mistake. I purchased and installed TurboTax on my Laptop. At first, I had a gripe about having to activate it, but I did it anyways. Went to work the next morning and I hooked up my laptop to the company LAN, so I can copy some files over. An hour later, I had the company security team and IT team all over me. They said I was either trying to attack the firewall from within or I had a Virus. I found out it was C-Dilla that was causing me such grief, so I went through the back way to remove it and all this time I didn't know it came with TurboTax. Went home and to my surprise, TurboTax didn't work. After serveral tries, it did work, but I now had an unactivated copy. So I got on line with Customer Service and the only thing they said was I had to buy another license after 45 minutes of waiting. Another $... for the Home and Business edition? I think not. The following day, I called and spoke to an agent and they gave me a new Product key after much persuassion. I spent a few hours (6+) trying to resolve this, simply not worth it. Oh and now TurboTax locks up once in a while when I try to print. I'm going with Tax Cut or something else next year. Been with TurboTax since 1997, the first 4 years were great... Thanks and hope this helps people decide.

Summary: More abusive than the IRS?
Review: I agree with James Samuels assessment of Turbo Tax to the letter. After years of using TurboTax with Quicken & Quickbooks, I returned mine this year to Intuit and got my money back. Some heads should be rolling in that company this year! Along with an extra special discount to all their "used to be" customers! James and I are not the only ones! I sure hope Intuit is paying attention! Stand up for yourselves America! SEND TURBO TAX BACK!

Review: I am apalled by the venimous nature of many of the other reviews. Turbo Tax installed, operated and printed my tax return perfectly. I'm a happy customer.
