Rating: Summary: Good game/more forgiving than real hunting Review: As a regular upland game bird hunter I decided to buy this game because it was the only game out there that had upland bird hunting in it. I expected shooting the birds to be like real hunting, where its impossible to shoot it once the bird gets out there about 70 yards. However, if soon realized that in this game I was making regular hits at 100+ yards with a cylinder choke! I mean come on, that is impossible. I think that the software engineers are just trying to make it easier so that more people will buy it. Overall, the game is very good. The game birds are accurate in their appearance and their habits, and the guns are what you would really use when bird hunting. The reason I gave this game a four was for the lack of the shooting realism as stated above.

Rating: Summary: Sad but True Review: It's sad but true that Bird Hunter Wild Wings Edition is about the best of the bird hunting games around. True that it's a fair simulation of the bird hunting experience in part (about 2/3rds part that is) and sad that it's no better. You're in for more frustration than a real hunt if you buy this game. Except as to waterfowl and turkeys. The graphics seem primitive at first but you soon forget about all the big square pixels and the grainy skies, when the birds start to appear. Some of the thrill of the real thing is there. Especially in the duck and goose hunting (Waterfowl mode) and the turkey hunts (Turkey mode, what else?). But the Upland mode for hunting pheasants (of which there are hardly any), grouse, woodcock, and so many quail that they soon become a nuisance, is a real disappointment. The clunky game mechanics, excessive requirement for keyboard hotkeying, and the erratic behaviour of the generic AI dog are truly frustrating. If you dig through the unhelpful so-called "help file" you find out that there is only one dog AI and that all the breed options are just various skins on the same "computer dog" which behaves very oddly in the upland mode though it's OK in waterfowling and not used in turkey shooting. All the upland birds are even more erratic. They won't drop when plugged, even at short range but glide out of sight never to be seen again, and the dog is almost useless in retrieving them even though the game voice says "good kill" or "wow what a nice quail" or the like. If you're hoping for help from the little manual supplied, forget it. It really (disappoints). For a year 2000 game, which this is, it is very unfriendly to machines like two years old or so. If you don't have really fast graphics acceleration you'll wind up playing in a tiny window in order to get anything like a resonable swing to your aiming. There are lots of accessories, trucks, houses, snowmobiles, boats, all kinds of guns and even bows (for the turkeys)and lots of tinkering options in the settings mode, but they still don't make this item very playable. Clearly what Sunstone (the designer) has done, is squeeze a fairly good bird hunter for waterfowl and a fairly good turkey hunter onto one CD and sacrifice the upland shooting experience. Instead of numerous places to hunt in each mode as on the individual games for waterfowl and upland, this game cans them down to about two or three venues for each. All the upland bird hunts are set in the winter when everyone knows that going for pheasants in the fall is one of hunting's joys. If you're a turkey shooter or a goose and duck enthusiast you'll probably like this game. If you're an upland shooter you'll find it more frustrating than fun.
Rating: Summary: This game is one of the worst games ever. Review: This game is to slow. It is really jerky when you are trying to shoot a bird. And also you cant get chocolate labs on the game.
