Summary: The most enjoyable "tycoon" game to date.
Review: 'Hotel Giant' allows players to design and run their very own hotel to the finest detail.
First, choose a hotel type to build. There are dozens of types, from small roadside inns to large holiday resort style hotels.
You can then build the rooms - from guest rooms to restaurants to fitness centres, the choice is yours.
There are hundreds of items to put in your rooms, and many styles of wallpaper and paint on offer.
Then it's time to watch the guests come in - and hopefully the money too.

There are also several campaigns if you prefer that style of play.
One of the great features of the game is the graphics. In normal view, being able to zoom in freely and rotate 360 degrees, and you get the idea. Think Theme Hospital meets the Sims, only better.
The best view is the perspective mode- where you can actually walk around your own hotel! In full 3D, in can see what your guests see, and watch as the guests get on doing a variety of tasks - having a meal, cleaning their teeth, swimming in the pool or 'talking' to other guests. It can be great fun to watch!
I enjoyed the game so much, I made a website called 'Hotel Giant 5-Star Resource' (it can be found on Google, etc.).
The only downside to the game is the loading screen - it may take a while but it's worth the wait!

Review: B-O-R-I-N-G.

That pretty much says it all about this game. I've been trying to think of at least some redeeming qualities to this game for those who enjoy its premise, but sadly there are none.

Sure you can design rooms and kitchens, bars, game rooms and meeting rooms, but that's about all there is to it. There's none of the snappy humor you get in other SIM games; and the customers are whiny about every detail from not buying THE most expensive sink in the public restrooms, to not being on THE most expensive chairs in the restaurant.

Even the "challenge" levels are quite dull. It's definately not the game I was expecting. ...

Summary: Not like The Sims...not supposed to be
Review: Being a huge fan of simulation games, I picked up a used copy of Hotel Giant with low expectations. I used to play Sim Tower years ago, and expected this game to be sort of like that, but with just the hotel elements (and better graphics, of course).

My used copy didn't come with a manual, so I installed and ran the game, hoping I could figure everything out. The tutorial to the game was excellent. I learned everything I needed to know about building my hotel quickly with a hands-on approach and without having to read a drawn-out manual.

After the tutorial, I played a few of the scenarios and met my goals easily. Then I decided to go on my own and build in a hotel of my choice. Designing the guest rooms in the hotel is the best part of the game, in my opinion. You can create one room and then use it over and over, or you can make every room different. You can look up what kind of rooms your potential guests are looking for and cater to their needs in order to get more people into your hotel. And if a guest staying in your hotel thinks they aren't getting their money's worth, they will tell you what they think needs improving.

One aspect of the game that I really enjoy is the different camera-angles you can view your hotel in. You can follow your guests around, seeing the hotel from their own eyes, or you can view it from a more Sims-like perspective.

While this game will keep you entertained for hours on end, I think that there is some room for improvement, or at least, expansion. You don't get to interact with the staff very much, other than managing their salary and choosing what their uniforms look like. There's no housekeeping or room service, and I think that a gift shop would also make a nice addition, as well as help you make more money (which I am finally doing after building my third hotel).

While many people like to compare this to the Sims, I do not. The two games have completely different objectives. In the Sims, you mainly control the lives of people. In Hotel Giant, the focus is on designing and maintaining a hotel that is profitable. Overall, I do highly recommend this game to people who love simulation games, as I do.

Summary: An Average Game
Review: I am a huge fan of SIM games, I have played pretty much every single one I could find. I thought the idea behind Hotel Giant was fun, so I got it and checked it out.

Personally, I found it very boring. You spend a LOT of time putting together rooms. It is time consuming and monotonous. For those who LOVE building their homes in the Sims, this would probably be fun for you! I found it fun for the first few hours.. but then I was so bored I had to force myself to finish and get to the fun stuff!

The game did have its good points though. The graphics are fairly good for a sim/tycoon style game and there are a LOT of item options you can choose from when desiging your rooms. Also, once you design one hotel room - you can reuse the same design over and over to get rid of some of the monotony involved in building so many rooms. Once you finally get out of pause mode from building, it is very fun to watch your guests (once they actually arrive!).

The staff controls are minimal at best .. you can't do much more than change salaries and outfits. You also can't hire maids (what kind of hotel has no housekeeping??). I would have liked more control here and more interactions.

In Sim/Tycoon style games I get more enjoyment out of managing all the little things than I do from designing, so this game wasn't great for me. For those who really love the design aspect, it would be MUCH more appropriate!

Summary: Ick!! Horrid game playing
Review: I bought this game and another,..., at the same time and found that while [the other game] had cute little graphics and a laid back theme, Hotel Giant had crude graphics and a hard interface. Once you finally figured out how to place everything you're tired of the game had no further desire to play. It's one of those games you wish you didn't invest [$$]in! I wouldn't recommend it to anyone unless they really really wanted to spend some money. Pass this one by, folks.

Summary: A good simulation game...
Review: I bought this game because the box caught my eye -and I don't regret it. I haven't had any of the technical problems that some people have complained about and the game provides a lot of amusement and challenge. Building a hotel, making sure it has all the amenities and trying to keep your guests happy (as well as trying to lure in the unsuspecting passer-by) It's never the same twice. It's different from the Sims in that you don't control what people are doing. My only complaint, is that the furniture selection is extremely limited and there are no complete furniture sets (so sometimes your rooms just don't look quite right...) Other than that, the game is a lot of fun.

Summary: Not fun at all!
Review: I came into this game expecting a lot. I love simulation games and have played almost every one out there. Of course, I'm addicted to The Sims, which is possibly why I was so disappointed with Maximum Capacity.

Maximum Capacity tries so hard to be like a Maxis game, but the graphics are awful and the interface is difficult to use. There's so much going on in this game that I actually had to play the tutorial to figure out how everything worked. And if it was difficult for me (an adult who has been playing simulations FOREVER), I can only imagine how frustrating it would be for someone younger or someone who hasn't played many computer games.

And I know I already mentioned how awful the graphics are, but please, let me reiterate: they're AWFUL. The color combinations for the floors and walls make one wish they were color-blind, and the furniture is gross.

I am actually mad that I wasted (Money)to buy this game. If you want a fun simulation that isn't ugly and ridiculously hard to use, try one of the Sim games or Tropico. Maximum Capacity is a waste of time and money.
