Rating: Summary: Fun at first, but fails to captivate. Review: First of all let me say that there is a large audience who loved the first Diablo and will undoubtedly love the sequal. This review is targeted for the rest of you who may not have caught on to the craze or the hype. Like many long awaited sequals, Diablo 2 was destined to receive as much anti-hype as hype. One of the biggest challenges Diablo 2 had to overcome was the treemendous anticipation and expectations that revolved around it. I wasn't one of the fan's who were waiting with baited breath for the release, so I'll try to remain objective. One of the nicest things about Diablo was the cool CG scenes between chapters and at the beginning of the game. The story was well thought out and after watching the first movie I was really hyped to play. While not a facet of the overall game, they were impressive and worth mentioning. Another cool aspect of the game were the tons of weapons to choose from, especially with the barbarian who can use two weapons simultaneoulsy. Unfortunately you can't leave things sitting on the ground like you could in the first Diablo. gold and weapons go into your stash. Once it's full anything you leave on the ground will disappear when you quit the game. Diablo 2 is entertaining, but failed to really captivate my attention to the very end. I found the game to be unstable on my system which meets the minimum requirements, which was a constant annoyance. It may not happen to you, but it was a contributing factor to my level of satisfaction with the game. One of my biggest complaints with the game is that it seems repetitious. The hack and slash elements are fun, but RPG's have come a long way since the first Diablo was a hit several years ago. There is little in the way of variety. The same monsters are colored differently, given new names, made a little tougher and we're supposed to believe it's a new monster. Eventually even the combat, the saving grace of the game, gets old after you wade through wave after wave of monsters that are far more irritating than threatening. The other big letdown is that they really haven't evolved the RPG aspect of the game since the first one. Unlike other RPG's (which I'll get to in a moment) the hirelings and NPC's are static and almost worthless. You can't interact with them, you can't change their weapons and all their really good for is taking some of the heat off your back until they are inevitably slaughtered. The game is far more interesting in multiplayer as long as your not trying to connect to battle.net. If you're like me, however and are barely able to meet the game's minimum requirements and aren't priveleged enough to have a cable-modem, you might as well give it up. The lag will drive you insane. All in all, Diablo 2 is a nice little distraction for a couple of days, but it is no t the best RPG or dungeon crawler on the market. If you want a REAL RPG and not just a dungeon crawler, get one of the many fine Interplay games on the market. Baldur's Gate 2 may be available by the time you're reading this, but you can already get Icewind Dale, Torment (which is fantastic), Baldur's Gate 1 and the expansion pack, and even the Fallout games, which may be dated but are far more entertaining than Diablo 2.
Rating: Summary: Email your character Review: Diablo II has a very absorbing gameplay, you just wanna keep on going till it's finished. I suggest that we email each other our characters so we can have a go at playing a specific class at a high level. Just go to C:program files/Diablo II/Save then attach. It only takes around 300 kb so your email can easily handle it. Then download, copy them to your own save files in Diablo II---viola, now you have another high ranking character to toy around with. I emailed my Level 35 Necromancer to my friend and he emailed me his Level 24 Paladin. It's so much more fun playing a character in very high levels---the results are devastating! If any of you are interested in exchanging characters my email is sohchiun@nightmail.com I implore all of you to try Necromancer at Level 25 and above, nobody can stand a chance if he specializes in Iron Maiden + Bone Spike + Summon Blood Golem
Rating: Summary: This game is Poetic Justice! Review: Diablo 2 takes off where the prequel ended. The wanderer, namely you from the original, became possessed by Diablo himself. Now he is on a mission to revive his brothers, Mephisto and Ba'al, for the ultimate onslaught. The story used here basically allows the advancement from one town to the next via an amazing motion video sequence. The game itself is a mix of R.P.G/hack'n'slash, but don't be put off, it is highly addictive and extremely recomended. No longer do you just click on everything you see to fight, but through advancement in character levels, you assign skillpoints to skills through a skill tree. Each of the 5 character classes are unique with their own set of skills, so it is completely replayable. I finished it in single player mode, but can't get enough, and log in each day to Diablo's free server Battle.net where you can go co-operatively or head-to-head with other players from around the world! POEM: Diablo 2 is extremely addictive. Buy it now if you wanna have fun. But don't expect to move from the screen. Never again will you see the sun.

Rating: Summary: AWESOME GAME Review: This game is the best RPG I have ever played. I, personally, think it should be rated T. There isn't enough blood to make it a M (But that's just my opinion). Anyway, the gameplay is awesome. With hundreds of items and tons of skills and stats to improve your character, this game has a LONG play time. Plus, you can compete against friends or a complete stranger over the internet over their unique gameplay system. All you need is an internet provider and a modem. This game is awesome. I would recommend it to anyone.
Rating: Summary: Finally! Review: Those who have a life should not buy this game. If you've played the original, and you're expecting Diablo II to be anything like the original, are you in for a shock. First, there's the all new characters - the barbarian, paladin, sorceress, necromancer and the amazon (my fav is the paladin). Each character has their own skill levels and they vary significantly from each character. There's also other things, like weapons and armor to find, they've upped the dificulty level, there's more quests, more towns, I could go on and on... Buy this game now!
Rating: Summary: Definately a fun game, worth the buy. More eerie than scary Review: Although this game had SO MANY delays in its release, and the fact that those delays made several of the earlier parts of the game show the fact that they were designed a few years ago (graphically), this game is definately one of the more fun games recently released (at the time of this revue). I've always felt that the controls of a game shouldn't be too confusing, and both Diablo and Diablo II are certainly very simple in their overall gameplay: see enemy; kill enemy. The controls for this sequel are both fine tuned yet still easy to master, one hand on the mouse and one near your item buttons. The graphics are a bit lacking, the only reason it doesn't get a five star rating in my opinion. Both the creaters of the Diablo games definately show their roots from D&D in this, the items have great names and abilities, the monsters are creative and challenging. Outright it isn't to be considered a scary game. The music and noises definately add an eerie mood but I was never actually scared/shocked/surprised as you can be in games that are primarily based on fright (the Resident Evil series for example). This one should definately be in your collection, and its worth the Gigabyte of hard disc space a full installation will take up.
Rating: Summary: The Real Deal On Diablo II Review: First off I would like to say this game is very addictive. The ability to play this game with the same character more than once yet develop those two characters totally differently is awesome, it honestly just depends on the individuals preference not what the game just sticks you with as in other games. I played it through the first time in single player and told my wife. "Ok honey now that I have beaten Diablo I wont be as interested in it as I was." Boy was that such a mistake. I started out playing this game with a 200mhz system and quickly found the need for speed so I moved the game over to my wifes Pentium II but quickly tired of having to give her the faster machine to do WORK of all things. *Laughing* So I upgraded my system to a 800mhz Athalon with 128MB of RAM and a 21 inch monitor NOW it ROCKS. I went online and played with 7 other people and it totally blew me away. The interaction is fantastic. Now a friend and I meet at least twice a week and play with other people online. Hopefully my wifes sister will soon join us. If you want to join us sometime for some good clean fun find me on USWest user Solace2 character "Krackus", or on USEast as Solace3 character "Victor Valen". I look forward to meeting and helping any and all new people to this game. Dragonstears@hotmail.com PROS: Major improvement over Diablo. Cinematics are great. Gameplay is excellent. Online interaction is awesome. Vast number of character combinations. OH the list just goes on and on. CONS: If you don't have at least an hour of time available to play then there isn't any need to even sit down at the game. Not being able to transfer your online character from one realm to the other... Such as from East to West or vice versa. Other than those two things I don't really see any CONS. The Graphics? Yes they could have been better but they were good enough to me. When I started playing the game I didn't come into it with the expectations that this would be a perfect game. I realized there would be some patches and with knowing this I took them all in stride. My Final thought is.... Buy the game... enjoy the experience.... roll with the punches....fight evil and kill some CHIT!!!!!!!!!!
