Summary: Great fun!
Review: And its has just the right amount of violence too! The game's GHOUL engine really does a great job displaying realistic damage effects and gunshot wounds. I enjoy playing this again and again!

Summary: Chunks of violence, chunks of fun!
Review: Considering this game's realistic level, it is absolutely one of the best first person shooters!

The graphics are up to date; the walls and floors are perfectly detailed. The enemies move somewhat realisticly, especially when being shot at (also to add, getting limbs blown off).

The audio is normal, nothing special, not good, but not bad. The voice acting isn't all that, but you really don't notice it.

The gameplay is very fun. The storyline is simple, and is kept simple. The game is simple as well, mainly to get from Point A to Point B, with a few minor obstacles (such as enemies, or jumping through a window, sadly). There are no difficult parts in the game, except the bosses... The game also gets somewhat boring after constantly shooting at baddies throughout...

Anyway, the game is very fun to play, has alot of realistic blood and guts in it, and the storyline isn't bad.

Summary: Utterly, utterly awful.
Review: Despite almost universal praise in the games press, this is a terrible, terrible game. I'm horrified that it seems to have gathered so many good reviews. It's essentially a dated, semi-professional Quake 2 mod, with the addition of a novel damage-modelling system that lets you shoot people's arms off. Made even worse by a useless attempt to give the game some authenticity - the box, CD, installation and loading screen are covered with warnings that the game is a realistic depiction of modern warfare, all of which exist purely as a tease, because the game itself is essentially a G.I. Joe cartoon with blood. The violence is strictly cartoonish - shoot somebody in the leg, and he hops around yowling - and the novelty wears off after a minute or so. Everything else about the game fails, comically so, from the interactive music (which, because of the game's lack of any slow bits, stays in 'combat mode' almost all the time, negating the point), to the 'stealth element' (make too much noise and bad guys appear in the level, usually in totally illogical places) to the interface, which looks as if it had been drawn by a backwards child. The gameplay itself is pure Quake 2 - you run through a linear track, along which bad guys are placed at regular intervals. Sometimes you have to press a button to open a door. If something moves, you shoot it. Most usually, nothing moves - the bad guys are, in the words of GameSpot, 'strawberry-jam-filled turrets'. Anyway, if you want a decent modern shoot-em-up with stealth elements, get 'Project IGI'. If you want violence, trip somebody up and then jump on them and have a fight.

Summary: MOST REALISTIC SHOOTER OF THE DECADE!
Review: Ever played goldeneye64... Picture that to the 10th power. This game is truly amazing. You really just cant stop playing it. When u shoot a character, they actually act out dramatic elements of pain. When you play, u feel like your in a movie that u get to direct. So realistic that words cannot even describe the detail, action, and fun of this game. If u have an uneasy stomach, then dont become a "Soldier of Fortune"!

Summary: Best First Person Shooters Ever Made!!!
Review: I am a FPS lover and this game just rocks. I've had this game for about 9 months now, through out that time and now I have bought a lot of FPS games and nothing comes closer than this game when it comes to realistic. The characters are so real and you can shoot enemies just about anywhere on there bodies and will act it out as if you really did shoot them there. (Ex: if you shoot an enemy on the leg he will yell for his leg to hurt or he will start to limp. Or you can shoot his hand and he will yell for it as well and surrender to you) Of course the violence is optional, you can put it in or you don't. Personaly I like to see everything realistic. The levels are awsome as well. They take you around the world with different environments. The characters voices are so real with real accents. The weapons are breath taking, give you a verity to choose from, from knifes to granade launchers... This game is the best so far and now that there coming out with SOF 2 in December its a deffinite must buy...

Other games that fallow this one are...

No One Lives Forever, Undying, Deus Ex, Hitman Codname 47, Project IGI: I'm Going In.

Summary: Great, Original First Person Shooter
Review: I first heard about this game on a website. I downloaded the demo and was very impressed with what I saw. I went out and bought a copy and started to play. Before I knew it, I looked around and everyone in my house had gone to bed and it was like 1 in the morning! I couldn't believe that I had been playing for so long. This is the most realistic game I've ever played. This game uses something called the GHOUL system. If you shoot somebody in the leg instead of dying they grab their leg. This game is great. I can't say that enough. Multiplay is also a great aspect to this game especially if you like to play games online, like I do. There is just 1 downside to this game...It's not, repeat NOT for the kiddies. Keep this away from young children due to the realistic violence. Other than that I would recommend this to anyone who likes realistic first person shooters with great graphics.

Summary: Disappointing...
Review: I found this game very disappointing... I read all the reviews that said this game was the best, extremely fun, very real, etc. So I was expecting a game that consisted of undercover missions and espionage, but instead all you do in this game is run and shoot. You can't really sneak around because there's nowhere to go. All the levels are comepletely linear, you have no choice where you go, there is only one path.

Aside from that it is practically impossible to sneak up behind enemies and perform a "silent takedown". Not that you ever need to, the enemies in this game are completely stupid and couldn't shoot the side of a barn. You could run into a room full of enemy soldiers and take them all down with a handgun without losing any health. In this game you simply end up running through the levels shooting human targets as you go.

This game is for people who just want to blow stuff up (although, some of the things you can do to enemies are pretty cool...) but the overall game is pretty boring.

If you're looking for a game that actually requires some thought, buy Deus Ex or Half-Life, don't waste your money on this...

Summary: An Average game
Review: I have just been playing the demo of SOF and I must say that I am a bit dissapointed. The graphics date back almost to the old Duke Nukem 3d game style graphics, not anywhere close to current standards. The weapon fire is the most unrealistic I have ever seen in a FPC. The storyline is good and the playability is good, but it could have been so much better if the graphics were worth a flip, but they're not, but it is a fun game nonetheless, and for the cheap price it's going at now, should be worth the money, but I would never pay full price for a game the lacks as much graphically as this one does.

Summary: Real Missions Not Just Run Around Shooting
Review: I like FPS that don't involve running around in circles(i.e. Quake III) and that involve some tactical elements in various scenarios and real-world locations(I don't enjoy made up planets, creatures, etc) so you know where I come from when I rate this game. I also enjoy many many many missions and I have played SOF for several weeks now and I'm still playing new missions. I cannot believe it. When you finish one, there is actually a new one next up. So for gameplay, this is right up my alley. Next, the graphics are incredible. I did not get the head-exploding version just the tactical version(rated M but no blood). I prefer this version as it seems less "fake" from the other version, from what I've read. My system for reference is a Pentium 4, 1.4 Ghz with 32Mb Nvdia GeForce DDr and it absolutely rocks. My pluses to this game are: Many many many new missions and levels and scenarios; Many Many different weapons and realistic manipulation of those weapons(I love how he racks the slide on the .44(auto) and 9mm and how he cracks his knuckles after some shooting), very good storyline and excellent sounds; Awesome graphics and scenery. I do not have any negatives to report on this game. If you have a weak system you may find it difficult to play and the levels may take quite awhile to load(they even take about 20 seconds to load on my Pentium 4). Otherwise I strongly recommend this game and I'm rating this against the others I've played(Delta Force 3, Quake 1,2,3, Half-Life..another awesome one).

Summary: Great Single Player - Multi-Player Lacks
Review: I thought this was one of the best first person shooters in single player mode. In fact, I would say it is the second best single player FPS next to Half-Life. I was totally immerged into the single player game and thought it was nothing short of outstanding.

Multi-player however lacked in my opinion. Player movement speed online was way too fast for the game. I thought the online play should of been more realistic feeling, perhaps similair to the popular Counter-Strike Half-Life modification.

If you like single player FPS games, this is a must buy.
