Summary: Rainbow what?
Review: Makes Rainbow6 and Kingpin look like Romper Room. The ULTIMATE stress reliever! If you like in your face blood, guts, and gore, this is your game. The weapons are great too. Playing online is even better. There is only one drawback though. I saved the world and all I got was a little over $800,000.00. Pretty cheesy for saving the world in my opinion. Bottom line is, buy this game. IT ROCKS!

Summary: THE BEST FIRST PERSON SHOOTER EVER!!!!!!!!!!
Review: This game is hands down the best game there ever was. There are thirty heart pounding missions with excellent Graphics and sound. There are awesome explosions and cut-in scenes, and the animations can't be beat. The graphics are run on a Quake 2 engine, But it has been HEAVILY modified. It is a must have game but its pretty gory. If you can't handle the gore Quake 2 then you can't handle this game.

Summary: Almost Half-Life ... but not quite
Review: A very solid FPS. I very much enjoyed 90% of this game. Like Half-Life, it has a good story line and great weapons. This game also features some good weapons balance -- it only allows you to have a finite amount of weapons and the ammunition and health can be sparse (especially towards the end).

The Ups: Great models, story, weapons, and over all game play. This is the first single player game since Half-Life that I have played all the way through.

The Downs: The story breaks down towards the end and it gets just a little monotonous by the time you're done.

Overall: probably one of the better games that money can buy right now. Numerous games that have come out since do not measure up. It has a very nice feel, and is very polished. A good purchase you won't regret.

Summary: This is like the "Starship Troopers" of computer games.
Review: This game is all right. Not great, just all right. It's basically the "Starship Troopers" of computer games, with lots of gore but little substance behind the endless showers of crimson. It's painfully obvious that the main selling point was supposed to be the gore, and that a good majority of the developers time was spent on making sure spilled intestines quiver at just the right speed, rather than designing smart enemies and interesting levels. The first level in the subway station is cool, as is the series of levels in the Sudan and Japan, but this does not make up for the sheer stupidity of the plot. While this game is fun to play for a little while, it is nothing compared to "Half-Life" or "Deus Ex." I would recommend that you download the demo or borrow a copy of this game before investing your hard-earned cash in a game that may very well dissapoint you.

Summary: Send Amnesty International after this one...
Review: Ugh. I think I'm going to be sick. I mean REALLY sick, as in blowing chunks all over the toilet sick. Why? I just got back from a round of Soldier of Fortune, on my PC. While the whole "modern mercenary shooter" feel is original and somewhat fun, this game is just disgusting. It has tested my commitment to defend violent video games. You thought Quake was gross? Half-Life made you squeamish? Then do NOT check out this game. Why is this game such a hit? Poor story, stupid looking enemies, a handful of ethnic classes to mow down at your pleasure (the KKK would especially like the Sudan level), and a bunch of "classic" blood-boiling "puzzles" (Walk into room, mow down enemies, find switch, hit switch, walk out of room, mow down enemies in hallway, walk into previously closed door, now open and spilling out enemies, mow them down, walk through door, etc.) It's simple what makes this game sell. Violence. While Half-Life was backed by a great story and creepy atmospheres, and Quake had a weird pseudo-satanic feel to it and a pulse-pounding style of gameplay that made it great fun to play, Soldier of Fortune has violence. That's it. I swear, the writers for this game were probably upset because they had to take fifteen minutes to slap together a crappy plot when they could've been thinking of more sick gruesome ways to push the envelope. These include: Heads exploding completely, heads exploding into raggedy chunks of flesh, intestines spilling out, backs of heads torn open like a xmas present, groin shots (which I'll admit, are sometimes funny), arms getting blown off, legs getting blown off, ALL limbs getting blown off (including head) before the body hits the ground. Keep in mind that whenever you do any of these the enemies scream with agony as they spurt blood like a supersoaker. It's just plain DISTURBING. Despite all this, the violence isn't the problem, it's the violence coupled with lack of a story that makes this game just plain bad. If they made a Saving Private Ryan type FPS with this kind of engine and limb-loss programs, it could be very fun. Think of it: the ramp in front of you hits the sand and you and the other 50 grunts crammed into the transport spill out onto Normandy Beach. Machine gun fire zings through the air, and you look over just in time to see the transport to the left of you explode from a direct mortar hit. Well, for those of you who think that kind of game would kick ass, it's time to start crying, because for now all we have is crap-ass Soldier of Fortune. *sob*.

Summary: A good first person shooter
Review: i don't know why everyone claims this game is gory - it's not much different than any other shooter. Basically, this game is what you'd expect - it's a newer shooter than some, so it took all the best parts of those and added a few, nicer things. Nothing radically different - it's just a nice, incrementally better shooter.

Summary: Solid game
Review: If you like the first person shooter genre you will like this game. The single player mode leaves a little to be desired (not as good as half lifes single player) but the mutliplayer is great. Doesn't run too bad on 56K either. Worth a look if your tired of Unreal, HalfLife and Quake.

Summary: Shoot everything then vomit uncontrollably
Review: This is a tight game if you are into a realistic version of quake or doom. Probably not a tactical rogue spear style game, but definently fun for the whole 17+ family.

Summary: Modern Day Quake---real original (not!!!)
Review: This is one of the worse games ever. It is nothing but a modern day quake, full of blood, powerful weapons, and "reloading." IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A RAINBOW SIX OR DELTA FORCE TYPE GAME THIS IS NOT IT!!! This game has no tactics except firing first. There are tons of "hidden" B.S. passage-ways and other items which make this nothing more than a quake or doom with modern weapons. I found this to be a very poor excuse for what was advertised.

Summary: a decent FPS...
Review: Now those that are attracted toward a straight-foward FPS will find this game satisfying. I probably don't have to go into details regarding the GHOUL system and what it entails given the amount of hype that has surrounded it. In short, SoF is not innovative but is fun...

To critique a traditional FPS is to look at the balance of weapons and level design. My opinion: the more realworld weapons are much better than the "futuristic" ones. Level design is a mixed bag. Every level is contained in a maze-like environment though some are decorated with outdoor-esque themes (snow, sand, etc.). all in all, get SoF for the gore! In a sick way, it is great.

so, it you find utterly destroying terrorists and the like (and have the maturity to realize that we aren't supposed to blow up the heads of our peers) check it out.
