Summary: Awsome Game!
Review: I participated in the Beta testing. I think people need to remember that there is a reason why it was called "beta testing." The game right now is still not fully developed... but, it has a huge amount of potential. Ultima Online and UO the second age were greatly improved through the use of patches. The same thing will happen to UO: Third Dawn. The use of 3D by Ultima is clearly a good step towards making UO one of the longest continual games in history. This game will not disapoint anyone who is a little patient at the start.

Summary: Lord British weeps
Review: It is truley sad to see how the mighty have fallen. UO, once the king of the hill for online gaming, has slunk into the ditch with this latest "effort". Graphically a step backward, this game sacrifices performance for badly done 3D. If you run(assuming you manage to install it) this game expect to crash often. Lag is the norm. Bugs abound, though they are patched hap-hazardly during log on to OSI servers. However, the patches themselves oft add to the problem and are patched the very next day. You may be lucky though and the game might like your hardware configuration, but doubtful. If you have problems, please expect to continue have them, customer service is not a priority for this company. If you must start an online game today, it might give you the fix you need, provided that you play with the provided 2D client, but I highly advise waiting for one of the newer online games ciming out soon.

Summary: Oops, I thought this was a game.
Review: I thought this was gonna be a cool new game. It's not. Its the same old Ultima garbage that has been around for 5 years or something. When I finally got in the game after a long install and upgrade process, I found an old style game with crappy graphics. The lighting on this game is totally stupid ugly. The characters all walk around like they have bone marrow desease. Then I started crashing. I had to reboot my system after every crash and when I was in the game, I would crash out to windows about every 10 minutes. Who are they kidding with this game? I tried some msg boards to see if I could get a fix. No way. The message boards are full of people with the same problems. Then some guy from the company msgs that you may need to check your drivers. ?? oh well. I have a brand new computer. I don't think its my computer there cisco. Nice try. I am taking this pile back to best buy.

Summary: Excellent Addition to an Excellent Game.
Review: UO:3D is a great addition to UO. It adds new items, a new land to explore, and best of all 3D graphics. Seeing your avatar in 3D is probably one of the coolest things you could ever experience.

Also added in are new gestures such as wave, applaud, point, and many many more. If you own UO, do yourself a favor and BUY THIS ADDITION. If you don't own the original UO, do yourself a favor and buy it. :)

Summary: Are we playing the same game?
Review: I have maybe the most pathetic system in existence, a P2 350 MHz. And the performance is great, bogging down only a bit when there are a dozen or more players around. I don't crash much either; in fact, I don't think UO3D has crashed on me in over a week. I think most of the reviewers are UO:R users who installed the patch, didn't bother updating their drivers, then played it for two hours. I've been playing the 3D client almost exclusively for a few weeks now. It's faster, more stable, and prettier than the old client.

Now all of that is a comparison. I don't actually think that's the right way to talk about this product at all...

Ultima Online has been the deepest of the MMRPGs. None of the games on the market come even close to that. You can bake bread, hunt monsters without much fear from other players, sew leather tunics, make weapons, enter a guild war, disguise yourself and spy on "enemy" groups, enter faction wars, *choose* to PK or fight PKs...

There's nothing even close. And it kind of saddens me, because I'd love for it to have some real competition.

Summary: Try it, don't let the naysayers stop you
Review: I run uo third dawn on a rather antiquated system. P2 400, Win 98, Rage 128 (32 megs)one of the video cards that supposedly had trouble with the game. I found all I had to do was download the special drivers and I really have no trouble running this game on my system.

For the most part it runs lag free, I don't crash (maybe once in the last 10 gaming sessions)the graphics are alright, they can be improved, but that is what this new client gives to UO, the ability to easily add new items, monsters, lands etc. Which the 2d client doesn't give this ability.

Summary: Not worth the cd its printed on
Review: simply put the games not ready, there are a number of issues with diffrent cards that have yet to be fixed, as well a memory leak since build 58 (at time of review they are on build 60) the graphics will catch no eyes, as they are for the most part poorly done, all the backpacks/chests background have been replaced with a dull grey box,

charaters tend to walk funny, and most clothing is a poor fit, some armors look like something a child put together for his game.

i would like to say something nice about this game, but its hard, as a beta tester i can say they relised it well before its time, most things we thought were placeholders where the real graphics or menus.

it is getting better, dispite poor comunication with the playerbase, they have managed to improve a few things, but causeing more memory problems whith those upgrades. \

with 3rd dawn they introduced something called Locilization, ment to make the game much more accessable to non english speaking lauguages by makeing the game easyer to translate, however this was poorly done and causes the game to feel more like a database then a midevil world.

i wish i could say some nice things to balance, however this is one case where the good is not easy to find

Summary: A poor excuse for a game....
Review: With the coming of many other MMORPG in the next month, there is no reason to pick up this game. The reason?Simple, this add-on is unfinished and shouldn't have left beta stage; While UO in itself is a good , outdated graphically, game, this 'facelift' seems to have turned bad. Its unstable, many crash issues, the 3D graphics are barely acceptable in today's expectations, but still require some very powerful hardware to run it! Patches for a live game should be made to ADD thing to the game and REPAIR game issues that couldn't be foreseen. That's absolutely not the case here, this software is an insult to consummers. Paying 40$ for a game still in 'beta' stage is too high a price.

Summary: More indepth than EQ and AC put together! Many many skills!
Review: I have played EQ and AC and started UO 5 months ago. I must say UO is awesome. The graphics aren't that great (especially when compared to Everquest but the gameplay, the skills you can do in UO are awesome. If you are just into killing monsters and pretty graphics, superficial gameplaying, then you should not try UO. UO is a game requiring indepth gameplay and planning. You can mine or log trees to sell to smiths and carpenters or you can take up a trade to sell swords or forges to other players. Or you can be a mage making scrolls for sale or you may just want to grab a sword and go slashing many monsters. All in all UO is a great game because of the level of interaction you have with the world (much more than EQ or AC will allow you) and the players are (on the most part) friendly and helpful. A must buy! Yes the game does crash and there are problems with installation sometimes BUT it will all be worked out within a few months and if you stick to the 2D lands (and not go into Ilshenar) you will still love the game! I do not plan on using the 3D client until a few more months when more bugs are fixed but right not the 2D client is more than enough for me!

Summary: Run away. Fast.
Review: I bought this game and it is very poorly done... Even if you take that away from the game.. it is still sub par. The graphics are very poor. It may be a good step up in graphics for the poor souls that have been playing UO all this time, but for those of us that have evolved with the gaming industry, this game is at the bottom of the pile when it comes to 3d graphics.

Another problem I had with this game is the connection to the servers. I picked the best server for my area by using the suggested UOtrace. Even though I was on the fastest server for me, my character would freeze for up to 20 seconds at a time. I even actually timed out of the game 2 times. This lag is unacceptable, especially on my cable modem. I have no problem like this in any other game I play online...Bottom line, if you have sunk months of your life in the UO game then this maybe a good upgrade for you once and if they ever get it patched up and running correctly. If you are new to online games or just looking for a new experience, pass this one up...
