Summary: It's Fun!
Review: This game has a sucky plot. So what? It's fun.

This game doestn't have the best AI. So what? It's Fun.

It's funner than Deus Ex.

It's Funner Than any of the Quake games.

This is really for twitch gamers, so If you're looking for some roleplaying stuff or something with a great story, or strategic action, go elsewhere.

This concludes my 2-minute review of Serious Sam.

Summary: Seriously, Get This Game
Review: Despite its cheesy box cover art and dorky title, Serious Sam (SS) is one heck of a hoot. Between "heavy" titles like "Deus Ex" and "Baldur's Gate II", SS comes as needed relief. After all, what's better than gunning down hundreds of Beheaded Cannonball Berzerkers with a gatling gun while traveling through a temple in 15th century Egypt? SS never tries to be serious, and this is what makes the game superb. The graphics, albeit limited in scope to the Egypt locale, are rendered beautifully, especially on fast machines (love my GeForce 3!). The gameplay is nothing new, so expect your index finger to cramp up quite regularly. For what SS lacks in length, it makes up for in price. At $20, this game is an absolute steal. It's quite difficult, even on the easiest settings, so get used to the Quick Save key. The bottom line: If you're looking for mindless, fun action, then SS is your game. For $20, nothing compares to this gem of absolute mayhem.

Summary: Don't let the low price fool you!
Review: Just because this game is low in price does not mean it skimps in quality. The game engine is new and one of the best I have ever seen. The graphics are outstanding and the maps are large and set in a combintion of outdoor and indoor enviroments. Multiplayer could use a little spit and polish, but I think that can be fixed easily with a patch. I am using a Voodoo5500 Agp/Athlon 850/256megs ram and the framerates and stability of the game are one of the best I have ever played. The best way to describe the type of game is throw a little Unreal,Half-Life,Duke-Nukem, and Doom in a pot and you get S.S.The only complaint is the sound settings keep reverting to the default instead of being saved when I change them. I have to reset it every time I start the game. Very minor problem and probably fixable with a little tinkering. Buy this game now! FPS fans will not regret it.

Summary: Great game, for the price.
Review: This is a really good game, especially for 20$. I mean, who doesn't enjoy a bit of mindless killing? The game does have some flaws, as you might expect from a 20$ game, but overall it's a worth while experience.

Summary: Old School Shooter
Review: Loved the emphasis on non-stop, senseless action throughout. Could not believe the outrageous numbers of baddies flooding my screen. I haven't enjoyed the shotgun so much in a shooter since Doom 2. The graphics engine is excellent.

Occasionally they did fall into a formula of: "so you killed 30 of my beasties.. so.. how about 50 HAHAHAHAHA.. next 100!!" So, there were some parts I had to play repeatedly, but it rarely stopped being fun.

Can't beat it for ...

Summary: warning: this is NOT a textbook on phylosophy
Review: yeah, it's a dumb game. you shoot things that come at you. no brainpower needed. no mental fibre challenged, and yeah, some might say it's a bad thing.

for everything there's it's place. You don't wear a tux to a rock concert. You don't wear jeans to the opera. You don't play Serious Sam when your brain is asking for high phylosophical values of human morality and how it affects the wisdom of a human being. You play Serious Sam after your calculus test, when you're in college.

Serious Sam may be the dumbest freaking thing to ever hit the comptuer game market, right after DOOM and Quake, etc. But it's just so fast-paced, so well scripted and so easily addictive, that I have decided that it's the best way to 'relax'. After my calculus final, this was THE game in my box for about 2 days straight, and now I feel much better. It's a fancy stress reliever, a great adrenalin buster. But if you think you're too much of a snob to enjoy a simple game like that, then I'm sorry, you're missing some GREAT fun there!

Summary: FUN-While it last
Review: Serious Sam is a great game untill it's over in about 3 hours. Technically the single player take's about a day, but the fun, for me stops after about 3 hours because the game just become's boring and repitious. So if you are looking for a great shooter with DEPTH than this is not the one for you.

Summary: It's just fun!
Review: Well okay, the monsters could use a bit of help. Some of them are silly. However, a few of the stronger monsters are AWESOME. Some of them are SO HUGE! Oh my Gosh... They could like step on cyber demons. (For those who played DOOM) :) This game is just good fun... not so serious, but FUN! One player mode is what I like best, I haven't had good multi-player experiences, but I think it's because of my slow modem. My recomendation is this: If you want a game that is just amusing, and fun, get this. :) (It's a little frustrating at points when monsters just teleport out of nowhere behind you and hit you really quick... but I suppose it's part of the game.)

Summary: Serious Sam - Serious Action
Review: With it's hardcore action and lacking storyline, this is *the* game for everyone who loved id Software's Doom games "way back then". Those that are too young, or for some reason never played these wonderful pioneering games, should also pick up this game, to see what they've missed, and also have a really good time.

What's wonderful about Serious Sam is the unique game engine these guys from Croatia (that's in Eastern Europe) has made. What do you do when you don't have the money to lisence an existing game/3D engine like the Quake engines or the LithTech engine? You make your own, of course! The engine that these Croatians came up with is unbelievable. It has all the fancy effects you could wish for, like fog, bumpmapping, particle effects, etc. But where it really shines, is when it comes to rendering the extremely large levels that Serious Sam is build up of, and the insane amount of enemies.

And insane it is. Actually in one of the level you're pitted in a quite small room, against 2-300 small toad-like creatures jumping over a wall with one mission in life: kill you. Mowing through them with the machine gun is unbelievably fun. Also in the normal levels, you're pitted against hordes of enemies, from small to HUGE, even at normal difficulty. When I played through the game on normal, I virtually had my finger glued to the quick-save button (F5 - remember that). You never know what's around the next corner, but you're likely to die.

Alas, the game is quite difficult (on Normal that is), but that isn't why i deducted a star in the rating. The reason for that is that after I had mowed through about 2000 enemies (I don't remember the number exactly, it might have been many more) with an impressive array of weapons, it was suddenly over! I had used only about 6 hours of effective gameplay. And that's a bit short. When a friend and I cooperatively beat the Serious difficulty, we used about 4 and a half hour.

If you aren't an experienced FirstPersonShooter-player, you probably will have some troubles getting through the game on Normal, but you also have Easy and Tourist modes, so there should be enough fun for eveyone in here. You also have Hard and Serious if you're feeling good, and also a Mental mode, only unlocked if you manage to beat the game on Serious difficulty...this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, buy it now! If you really like this type of action games, you've probably never had as much fun behind your computer as when playing Serious Sam. It's a bargain, and remember: Not all great games come from the US :)
