Summary: And I waited so so long for this......
Review: After last year's intallment of the Live series I was pumped to rush out and buy it this year. And rsuh out I did...when if was finally released. Not that late releases are always a bad thing. If the developer is spending time and effort making improvements and adjustments to gameplay, a wait can indeed be a good thing. However I was sorely disappointed with this game. Lets cushion the bad with the good points first: - graphics are pretty snazzy. Looks like Karl Malone is playing on your screen. - The interface has been cleaned up a little and doesn't take a full 6 seconds to switch screens now. - the commentary is a bit better than last years miserable attempts at humor

And the bad: - No refs?!!?!!? Why was this removed? I had visions of players getting in the refs face after a bad call and getting slapped with the T. - What is with all the steals and blocks?! When was the last time you saw Shaq AVERAGE 25 blocks a game and Jason Kidd AVERAGE 15 steals a game! Come on now there has to be a way to fix this. - No in game save option. Picture this. Finals of the NBA championship. Game 7. One minute left. The Chicago Bulls (yes the NOW Bulls)up by 5. Suddenly the door opens and your mother/father/roomate/snotty little sibling says "You have to get oof the computer now...I need it." Yer sunk...no save option. - Great a three team trading system....too bad you can't make a two computer one human trade. You aren't allowed to make decisions for the computer! - Please please please FIX THE STATS!

Well all in all a huge dissapointment to me. I hope EA can learn from companies like 3DO and realize that people want realism and accuracy not the same old stuff....

Summary: Could have been better
Review: As you know, each year, easports produce good games but now they've gone a step backward! nba live 2000 has referees, linesmen and more officials in the game, but on nba2k1, the game got worse in detail and graphics. The only reason i bought this game is so i can have the newer better version of nba game but i recieved a game worth nothing! so those readers, buy nba 2000. i know it's old but it's better and not a waste of money! good luck!

Summary: I can't rank the quality, because the game doesn't work
Review: Buyer beware: this game does not work at all on a laptop. It simply won't run. Why EA released something this full of bugs is beyond me. I wasted hours going through their trouble shooting tips, all so that I could end up having to return it. What a waste...

Summary: Not as good as last year
Review: Don't get me wrong. I did by it on the first day. I just waited this long to write a review.
This game's ok. But it's not as good as 2K. WHAT???? No custom team. I was planning on putting my school team against the pros. No Practice, 3point shootout and refs!? At least the gameplays good.

Summary: Same old garbage from EA sports
Review: Don't get suckered into the hype surrounding the good graphics and sound of this game, it's just same old junk that EA sports releases under the NBA Live franchise every year. The AI isn't any better than last year (one still misses lay-ups, makes bad passes, etc to make up for the lack of computer-controlled defense). Also, there are still joystick/control problems regarding player control. In short, if you dig a shallow game with a lot of eye-candy, this is for you. Otherwise steer clear of it.

Summary: This is really good
Review: EA Sports has done a fantastic job this year. The graphics have a lot more detail and gameplay is a lot more smooth. The transition between the morphing and actual gameplay has improved a lot too, and the loading is faster.

The only minor problems were that 1) I didn't like the opening sequence, because I don't like Montel Jordan and I prefer to watch a video of the real players. 2) There's no halftime show this time, no referees and no player momentum option. 3) You can't make a custom team this time either. 4) They switched the controls on me from last season's game.

Other than that, gameplay is overall really good.

Summary: NBA Live 2001...Some improvements
Review: EA sports has given this game better graphics than it's previous games. The problem with this game is that now not nearly as many shots go in. I feel that that is not a major problem and would not dissuade me from buying it. Otherwise, the players ratings are more realistic, the players look more realistic, and the three-way trade option is good. But...about the three way trades, you can't give players from one Computer team to another, but it is almost essential to make a three-way trade work.
