Summary: Possibly THE Best Game I Have Ever Played
Review: When I got FreeSpace 2, I thought it was going to be another one of these space sims like Independence War. I was far off. While I-War is a great game, FreeSpace 2 tops it indefinitely. The graphics are the best I have yet seen in a space sim. The gameplay is frantic and action-packed. The capital ships are enormous, with their beam cannons, and laser and flak turrets. Just don't look away from your screen while playing, because your ship will probably be blown away. My advice to any sci-fi fan is to buy this game immediately, and prepare to be amazed.

Summary: FREESPACE2 GREAT WAR2
Review: When you look at Freespace 2 and play, you think "Wow, incredible game!" All, in all, this is true. The missions, especially ones with enormous capital ship battles, deep in the nebula, with only enough Hit Points to survive one more shot from that fighter thats chasing you, you have a strong feeling in you. However, it is great fun. One thing the game lacks, is a slide control. ...If you had a slide control in Freespace 2, you could turn and engage pretty much anyone. Also the game takes an incredibly long time to load, which is ridiculous. Also, keep the difficulty setting on easy for a little while, or else you blown up before you even think about it. But, forgetting the flaws, which are so minor, you don't even notice them most of the time, Freespace 2 is definatly a game worth your time and money. Buy it now.

Summary: Freespace 2: What Wing Commander was destined to become
Review: with a simplistically presented yet compelling Single Player story of the same epic scope of FS: The Great War. The game play is superior to it's predecessor and same genre games of the day. The missions are fast and intense. The single player story is loosely linear, not living up to The Wing Commander franchise's standard, yet as engaging. At the end of each mission you are left with a thirst "what happens next".
The action is intense and will get your adrenaline pumping, which is as it should be.
Volition wisely included a mission editor and Mod support within the game structure which has served to keep the game on the shelves longer than is typicall for PC games.

Excellent game, worth owning, if only to be able to play the fan based mods and missions available for download.
