Summary: Try the rest, but come back to the best
Review: Without question, this is the ruler of all other MMORPG's. Why? Here we go (in no particular order)...

(1) Most realistic looking world - not cartoony, overly colorful, or too "fantastical" like other games are - the scenery could almost make you believe that you are there.

(2) Best selection of classes and customization - an extremely balanced game that still presents numerous distinctly different classes. NO other game offers as much variety.

(3) Sweet graphics, great sounds. Excellent sound variety completes the atmosphere. In particular, the dungeons have echo, water, music, ghostly undead whispering, etc. Graphical effects, such as shimmering water reflections, are on par with the best of them. Water is reminiscent of Morrowind, cobwebs are disturbed by drafts in dungeons, ever-changing weather effects, etc. Enough cannot be said.

(4) Excellent selection of grouping choices. Form chat groups, combat groups, guilds - clear, distinct, with numerous settings you can customize.

(5) Fun selection of monsters. Some you have heard of, like werewolfs, etc., others you have never heard of or even imagined, like naburite drinkers, for instance.

(6) Excellent system for judging mob difficulty - a unique color system that soon becomes second nature, judge the difficulty and benefits of attacking a particular mob, at a glance.

(7) A crafting system that actually has meaning! Make unique weapons, enchant them, sell them for gold! A nice little side diversion to regular "hunting".

(8) Fun RvR. Goal oriented objectives, like capturing enemy keeps for notoriety and benefits, as well as 'regular' head-on confrontations. Nothing beats a human opponent!

(9) Cooperation is encouraged more in this game than any other I have seen. You WANT to team up, rather than being forced to, or going solo. Truly a social game.

(10) FUN! Impossible to describe, but after trying all the other games, I only found myself comparing them to this one, and none matching it. Try it out - you will be hooked !!

Summary: Look elsewhere if you want PvP
Review: I was late to buy this game after having two friends recommend it, and boy am I glad. Much like the other reviewers, I found this game to be huge fun at first, but my overall goal was to get to the point where I could stop doing PvC and start doing PvP. After spending the 145 hours required to do this I entered the PvP Realm vs. Realm action, and WOW was I dissapointed.

If you don't have eight REALLY close friends that are all willing to choose different classes of races, level at the same time you do, and all have enough money to get 2 copies of the game, don't even bother trying to do the PvP. There is really no skill involved, and it turns out that occasionally Mythic will reduce your class's abilities because other people have complained, RUINING the 300+ hours invested in your character. This was my first experience in RPG online gaming.. and I could not have been more dissapointed.

Summary: Initial Impressions Almost Killed It
Review: I bought this game because frankly I was looking for a MMORPG but I didn't know where to look. I was in CompUSA at the time and I asked the guy for his reccomendation. He said Ultima Online which I looked at and it said no XP support, so I looked on. Next, random people that were passing said that Dark Age of Camelot was one of the best so I picked it up.

At first I thought the game was basically the same as what I saw from my limited time at Everquest. That being a convulted interface and extrememely large learning curve. So I uninstalled the game. However, one of my friends wanted to see it and I reinstalled it and picked a different character on a co-op server and was blown away. Once you get past the inital problems and issues with the interface the game seems to open up.

Now, I'm only level 4 but from what I've seen I'll probably stick with this game. At least until World of Warcraft from Blizzard comes out.

Summary: Not as Good as it sounds
Review: As a noob u dont know anything about the game. When u are low lvl no one seems to try to help u. I asked about 20 people for help and no one even answers. Since there are so many NPC's and highly detailed buildings u move very sklowly. For about 30 mins i am ending up spinning in circles because i cant turn to get out of the very laggy town. Its seems a waste of time and gets very annoying. After lvl 6 after u die u lose experiance so if u were to get almost the next lvl. If u are soloing you die and die now your back to phase one, gives u major headache.

Summary: A struggling beginning, but a fun game now
Review: Mythic Entertainment's Dark Age of Camelot MMORPG is one of those games that, like Anarchy Online, most people judge based on its early stages. Constant rebalancing, classes going from godly to [ungodly]......the first few months were plagued with such things.

But it is slowly finding its feet again, and is rather entertaining now.

Set in the lands of Albion, Hibernia, and Midgard, Dark Age of Camelot follows a psuedo-European world shortly after the death of King Arthur. With Albion's greatest protector fallen, the three realms are warring against each other. Choosing one of these realms, you are cast in the role of a fighter for that realm, taking control of your enemies' lands without letting them do the same to you.

If you've played pretty much any MMOG out there, most of the basic mechanics will be familiar...especially EverQuest. The feel of 'bunny bashing' still exists, and you occasionally question what it is you're doing in this game. But get up to level 20 (which, with the help of tasks and an accelerated experience curve at those levels, is much easier than it sounds), and you can realize the true joy of this game: realm versus realm combat.

Any attempt to review Dark Age of Camelot based entirely on its NPC content and enemies will not only vastly underrate this game, but miss the point entirely. Dark Age of Camelot is much less a PvE (Player versus Environment) game than it is a PvP (Player versus Player) game...or RvR (Realm versus Realm), as the case may be. Realm battles are designed for multiple groups, crushing enemies. Whether as Albion's staff-wielding friar, a powerful Midgard Thane, or one of Hibernia's void-wielding Eldritch mages, it is rare to find yourself bored in the RvR environment. And with the recent addition of Battlegrounds for level 20-35 characters, you can rest assured of finding a suitable opponent for RvR no matter what your skill or character level may be.

While quite entertaining, the game still has several issues nowdays that keep it from earning a full five stars. The struggle to level 20, even if faster, can become tiresome. And the level-restricted items can reduce the replay value. It feels like you're running on rails at times...but when you and your realm seize control of an enemy keep...or perhaps a relic of power...all those doubts fade away, replaced by pure gaming Nirvana.

Summary: Doac The best game -Still -after playing for a year
Review: This is the best game we have played. My husband and I play as a team and also solo. We have a Midgard guild and we just can,t stay away from it. Mystic is always improving the game , and trying to improve the characters. We have gotten our money out of this game 100 times over.We have people from all over the world in our guild which is great and gives us a great variety of friends .
I don,t really think we need to look any further for adventure . DOAC has plenty of it

Summary: Which one should you choose?
Review: When I first played this game, I wasn't sure what to expect. I only played Everquest for about three weeks before I bought DAOC, and EQ was the first Online RPG I've ever played. I wanted to try the top RPGs before I started spending money to play monthly. One thing I really enjoyed from the start that EQ doesn't have is the ability to play in 3rd person view. It is also very easy to level in the beginning, which is good and bad. The good is that you won't be discouraged to play in the beginning. The bad is its sometimes a job to get a good group going for a good amount of time because people can level as a solo player as good, or sometimes better than if you were part of a group. I found myself being invited into plenty of groups from the start in EQ.The group feeling is definitely stronger in EQ. The best way I've learned to determine whats right for you is to play them, then decide. I bought DAOC because a guy in the store rcommended it and said it was a thousand times better than EQ. Well, I guess anything would be better or refreshing if you played a game every single day for 2 years. All in all, the game is great, and People on the server say the expansion makes it alot better. I gave it 4 stars cause I'm only level 11 so I haven't seen close to everything there is to see.

Summary: This is the greatest game ever
Review: DAoC is a mystical game with a lot of places to go and things to do. There r three diffrent realms each with diffrent classes and races. The graphics are incredibul. There is the leveling sistum where u gain lvls by killing monsters. When u get to 5 u get to chose your afficial class. When u get to be 30-50 u get to do relm vs realm battles. (u can do realm vs realm battles be low that but u would die and not do else except see diffrent races of diffrent realms). Now there is a dueling system where u can invite an other player to duel u. If u r looking for an ultimate online role playing game the 1 to get is DAoc (in this i use a lot of DAoC writing short-cuts =) Have fun)

Summary: GREATEST GAME OF ALL!!
Review: I'd have to say thay DAoC is probably the best online game yet. I play as a Britn in Albion named Cadalehar. I love the graphics, the sound is good, and the story outline is even good. RvR is great and I really like the ability to form a guild with other members.
I can't really find anything wrong- other then losing exp when you die. But other than that, it's a great game.
I'am greatly looking forward to getting the expansion game "Shrouded Isles." For all of you RPG gamers out there, this is the game for you.

Summary: frustration in the long run
Review: Mythic makes promises they never get around too. They nerf classes to try to balance the servers. It is very easy to spend a ton of time on a character only to have it changed by mythic and made less useful. Mythic seems not to listen to customer feedback that would really improve their game and make customers happy. Pass this game up it will save you time money and frustration in the long run.
