Summary: Daikatana = Quake 2.5
Review: I have never heard more bad publicity about a game than I have Daikatana. From all the bad press, you'd expect that this game would really suck! And it doesn't! While this is obviously no Deus Ex or Quake III, it IS a game that concentrates more on the shoot-em-up genre populated by the likes of Quake I, Quake II, and Duke 3D. It IS a "find the switch", "kill all bad guys" game. But that's not bad. Daikatana is far from perfect. In the first set of levels, the enemies are frogs and mosquitos, which are very annoying. But as you progress through the game, it becomes increasingly difficult yet interesting. Ancient Greece is a technical marvel, as it should be. Fog hangs low over the damp marshes. If you look closely in Norway, you can see that the individual snowflakes are intricately designed. Small details such as these make the game more interesting.

With low system requirements and fast action, this game is a must-have, ESPECIALLY at the $9.99 price tag from Amazon.com.

Review: This was the best investment ever. The game was jam packed with action. I think the first level was the best level Iv'e ever played on a PC!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is a great buy that you will not regreat. I dont understand all this crud about it being a bad game.I dont see any tweaks in it at all.And I dont see any glitche either.

Summary: We all waited a long time to be killed by frogs! Heck No!
Review: Daikatana is to computer games as Battlefield Earth is to movies. The plot is one-dimensional and does not let you stray, even to the point of letting your supposedly smart teammates (read: more of a hindrance than a help), keep you back. If a man can't figure out how to walk in a straight line across a bridge, why should I trust him in a fight? Additionally, the enemy AI is alternately idiotic or lethal, with little balance between which road is taken. The weapons range from the interesting to the downright Twinkish. The program itself drains a system of precious resources to accomplish what most other games can outdo with less programming, and with better results. This is a game to avoid. For a truly good game experience, stick to something with more plot, better game engine, and more developed player-to-AI interface.

P.S. That One star should be 0, thats right zero stars buddy.

Summary: Not So Great
Review: I thought this game would be good, but I was really disappointed. One of my friends was too, as on the Daikatana CD, he wrote "In case of fire, throw CD in". I think that about sums it up.

Summary: John Romero, what WAS this???
Review: Thinking that this would be an awesome game, I had purchased and then played and tried (emphasis on 'tried') to like this game, even before reading the really horrible reviews this game has been getting. Sad to say, the bad reviews this game had been getting were right on the mark.

The sidekicks and AI for this game were just horrible. The levels murky and convoluted and just a big mess. Random crashes, glitches and being attacked by your own comrades... Need I say more? Video games are supposed to be fun, not excruciatingly painful. And somewhere along the line, this concept seems to have been lost by it's maker. This game was NO fun at all! I'm really sorry to say that I acually paid money for this kind of garbage. After my friends found out that I actually owned a copy of this game, they actually laughed and had pity on me... Talk about one of life's most embarassing moments.

This game deserves no stars whatsoever. And I will never buy another one of Romero's games. The only star given this game is due to the fact that the game and the box makes a nice glass coaster for my coffee table.

If you had the mispleasure of owning this game, don't tell anyone unless you want to be ridiculed for having an abomination like this in your home! The only accolades this game will probably get is it's going to be known as one of the most dissapointing games in history. Just bloody awful...

Summary: What a terrible mess
Review: "I am only left asking, "how long until Daikaitaina 2? "" - Ha-Ha-Ha-Ha-Ha-Ha-Ha!

I really tried to like this game.

I felt like screaming "Turn the lights on!" during the first level. What a murky morass. I installed this game twice and I still can't stand it.

What angers alot of gamers is this: We wonder what games didn't get made because "Daikajokea" sucked up so much cash?

Summary: Suckatana
Review: This game wasn't even worth the $8 I paid for a used copy of it. For a game that took so long to make, it doesn't have much to show for it. The graphics weren't at all impressive for today's standards. The voice acting was cheesy. The characters and plot were uninteresting. It is a complete waste of time and money. The world would be a much better place if John Romero would not make anymore games.

Summary: Making Good With Old Engines
Review: OK, so its an old Quake II engine... There are a few additions, like the nice clouds. The difference here is controlling your mates (2 of them) whereas usually in 1st person shooters you are on your own.

This adds a certain spice to the gameplay but there is also your expected amount of hands on fighting.

This game still looks good, even with the outdated engine, but plays with an irregular thread of complexity.

the first level will have you reaching for the 'I am a pussy' level' but later this will prove too easy!

I would suggest we all wait for the UK patch (there is an American one) which allows saving at any time (so you can start out on the ' Bring It On' level) and fixes some nasty bugs.

Those 4 stars out of 5 are for playability, not good looks! There are a few beautiful levels but not what we are used to with Unreal etc (Give me a few lens flare effects to really make the atmosphere)

Still worth the money though, if you liked all the others you will enjoy this!

Thanks Mr Romero

Matt Nicholas

Summary: Computer gaming has sunk to a new low.
Review: Well, after several years of promises and many delays, Daikatana is finally here. This will probably go down as one of the worst games in history. Why do I say this? The game's graphics look ten years old, there are so many bugs in the game that gameplay is almost impossible, and the game crashes at random times. However, the worst part is the customer service. It looks as though Eidos Interactive has already given up on the game. They keep promising to fix the various problems throughout the game, but it looks like these promises, just like the original release date, will be taken care of in about five years. However, there is an upside for having this game in your home. The box makes a great coaster for your soda.

Summary: Half-Life is Excellent
Review: It's technically competent, and indeed 'competent' is a good word. It's just very, very uninspiring, and after a seemingly endless and tortuous wait (the release was held back for three years, during which time many of the creators left the company), it's a disappointment. Not a huge one, as people were beginning to suspect that it might not be very good. Whilst 'Half-Life' had the advantage of suddenly appearing from nowhere, Daikatana's gestation was extremely public, despite the 'it'll be ready when it's ready' attitude. What's it like, though? Dull. That's what. Whilst by no means as lacklustre as 'Blood 2', it's infected with an air of carelessness. The graphics and sound are functional, the gameplay is no more advanced or entertaining than 'Quake 2', the character AI and voice acting are both simplistic and irritating (your sidekicks are infuriatingly stupid, and their death instantly loses you the game) and, crucially, both 'Half-Life' and 'Soldier of Fortune' are much, much better, and cheaper.
