Summary: A great adventure game for the novice gamer
Review: Amber: Journey's Beyond is exactly that, you journey to different places and times. The graphics and music are very appropriate and keep your interest. Even though the puzzles aren't too difficult even an advanced gamer will be intrigued by the story line. Some scenes are graphic but for the person who likes horror or suspense will greatly enjoy this game.

Summary: great game
Review: I bought this game for 12 dollars and it was worth it. You are a ghost hunter and you go into the lives of three different spirits and help them figure out how they got to be dead. The graphics are good, the storyline is developed. The forties ghost especially was well drawn.

Summary: Excellent Game for the Price
Review: When I bought this game it was still around $20, and I would have paid more.

It has beautiful graphics and ambient sound to make you wish you were really there. The graphics are actually better in the game than they appear on the box.

The story is set up well in the beginning, giving you a character to play who is actually involved in the story, not just an observer. The puzzles can be hard to solve, as solutions are not obvious and may take a stretch of the imagination. All of the characters you meet in the game have unique stories surrounding them - making them seem more like characters from a book.

The only disappointing thing about this game is that it ends too soon, without much of a finale.

Summary: GREAT GAME, Not very LONG though!
Review: This was a GREAT Game!! But this game defenitley wasn't as long as I expected! It had GREAT Graphics and stuff, but it only had a few puzzles! It wasn't that difficult either, so in my eyes is wasn't the best game I have played.

Summary: leaves you wanting more
Review: The game itself is beautiful: graphics, soundtrack, story. . .but it's too short! I finished the game the same day I bought it. I was also hoping for more creepy stuff; the PeeK device allowed you see the weird stuff happening in other rooms, but nothing ever happened while you were actually in the room, which I found mildly disappointing. It seems as though the game has much unused potential, like the designers could've given the whole things more depth and longevity, but--for whatever reason--they didn't. They have a wonderful base to work from, and the story could have gone in a multitude of directions. I recommend this game for temporary entertainment.

Summary: A few good scares.
Review: To modern eyes, this adventure is bound to look somewhat primitive, but just like a good text adventure, its evocative storytelling transcends technology for those who can get beyond the dated graphics and movement model.

It is a point-and-click game, with a little too much point-point-point-point-aha!-click, and it suffers from mild adventure-itis, but there are some downright spooky moments, and great ambient noises which build and maintain an atmosphere. Here we see one of the adventure game's basic flaws (inability to render sentient characters realistically) used cleverly to create a "haunted" feel. We also see one the adventure game's primary strengths (the ability to compel the reader to piece together a story) used to good advantage.

A good one for late at night with all the lights off and the headphones on.

Summary: Amber
Review: The game has extremly good detail! The game is easy but the clues are very hard to get. This game could be scary in the night for children.

Summary: Spooky!
Review: Wow, this game was scary! It even gave me nightmares.

The basic premise is that you're supposed to check on a friend at her house in the woods by a lake in the middle of nowhere. It turns out that she's been involved with activities on the astral plane and has been trying to communicate with ghosts in and near her house. She won't be of any help (she's apparently trapped somewhere in the astral plane) so you need to find out how to help her.

The game goes through three scenarios where you help people who are dead and whose ghosts still reside near the house.

The puzzles are mostly solved with wit and with items out of the inventory, and while some of them are difficult, they can all be solved without too much frustration. The graphics aren't very detailed but there's enough to give you a good idea of where you're going and to startle you when ghosts appear.

I would have liked it better if the three ghost scenarios had related to each other more. They can be played in no particular order and don't tie in to eachother at all. This was a little jarring when finishing one scenario and beginning another; it almost seemed like I was starting a whole new game.

I wouldn't recommend this game for children, mainly because of the suspense (I know I'm naive to believe that anything that scares me will scare a kid, but still...) and adult content. I also wouldn't recommend it to people who like really long games. But if you've got a couple of afternoons free and you're interested in the paranormal, this is a great game.

Summary: A Great Ghost Story
Review: Amber begins as "you", a friend of a friend, to a paranormal researcher named "Roxy", is asked to do a favor and go to her house/research office to check up on her. That is where your journey begins..... The absolute fun of this game came to me as quite a surprise as I had bought the game on a whim from a bargain shelf at my local dollar store! I wanted to pass some time and figured I'd give it a shot. I wasn't expecting much , but was sure glad that I had decided to load it and play! Although the interface is quite simple in todays computer world, the game is very engaging and the "puzzles"/problem solving are conducive to brain exercise. The exploring of the home and the surrounding areas makes the game very interesting and fun. The plot and storyline are very well written and make the whole experience of Amber Journeys Beyond that much more enjoyable.

Summary: Not Worth It
Review: I really did not enjoy playing Amber. I found the puzzles random, easy, and not interesting in the least. The whole game was very short, and the resolution wasn't satisfying. The idea in this game is to find out how each ghost in this house died. You have a device that measures sound waves. For each ghost you journey back in time. The settings are fairly interesting, but each is also very creepy. Again, I would not suggest this game. At the end I felt like I had wasted my time and money.
