Rating: Summary: Awesome Review: So lifelike, you were scared and surprised as if you were actually there! Worth every penny spent. Suspence had missing pieces of the puzzle finally fit toward end of the story. Who ever thought it up had a good imagination.
Rating: Summary: An excellent "period" game. Review: If you like games like Myst, this is definitely for you. The animation may not be up to some current levels, but the mood, atmosphere, and overall sheer scenic beauty of the game more than make up for it. It's quite playable, too...novices as well as pros will enjoy the puzzles, which are perhaps not as difficult as those in Myst, but still challenging. Recommendation: get it and play it. See for yourself.
Rating: Summary: Good Game Review: I can install it on my computer at work. I can't install it on my computer at home. I keep getting errors. Maybe the game is to old for my computer. From what I can see I would really like it. I love realistic games like this. I wish Hue Forest would redo the game so it is compatable with windows XP, or have some kind of patch to make it work. I want to play it really bad. Hue Forest keep making games, I like your style.
Rating: Summary: A nice little game for a rainy afternoon Review: I have to say, the first time I finished Amber - three days after I started it! - I felt a bit disappointed, particularly since I didn't have another game on the backburner, it was only Friday, and I was down with a cold and looking at a long, sniffly weekend with little or no real-world interaction. But notice that I said "the first time I finished Amber." This, IMHO, is what makes Amber worth the investment. It's short, atmospheric, and NOT full of puzzles with long, complicated solutions; it has an interesting premise, great graphics and a nice, creepy feel. All of these factors combine to create - are you ready for this? - an adventure game that you can PLAY MORE THAN ONCE A YEAR. I went through it, start to finish, three times this weekend; by Monday, I was thinking of it more as an interactive movie or a re-readable book than a game. Obviously, the second time through, there were no surprises, but it was still enjoyable. No, it's not Myst or Riven or Monkey Island or whatever; it's not going to consume your entire waking life. It will, however, keep you entertained for three or four hours - and then again for three or four hours some other day. If you're between game fixes, it beats Internet Hearts any day of the week.
Rating: Summary: HOME ALONE??????????? Review: ABSOLUTE WASTE OF MONEY. GOOD IF YOU WANT A GAME THAT YOU STILL HAVE COMPLETED BEFORE THE HOLIDAYS ARE OVER, IF ONLY BECAUSE ITS TOO BORING TO PLAY. STILL THIS GAME HAS NICE GRAPHICS. ITS JUST YOU AND A HOUSE THE REST IS UP TO YOU.
Rating: Summary: Can't run on XP Review: I have not been able to get this game to run. I've tried contacting someone for technical support - no response. I've searched the internet and finally found today that apparently the game won't run on Windows XP. So if you've got XP, don't buy this game.
Rating: Summary: A little too short, but an awesome game none the less Review: After playing many an adventure game (including classics such as "The Longest Journey", "Grim Fandango", and "The Neverhood") this one has the makings of a great game. While it is graphically stunning with a sound track that combines with the graphics to create a rather stunning and memorable atmosphere dealing with the paranormal. The story is just as awesome, with game play that is quite excellent (although the puzzles are rather easy) this game is deserving of five stars, although the ride goes way to fast, thus knocking the game down to four stars. To sum it up, it's short, but it is a sweet game. This is a must have for any adventure game fan.
Rating: Summary: A Classic 90's PC Adventure Review: I actually had the chance to e-mail the creators of Amber back somewhere in '98 or '99. I was so impressed with the "feel" of the game, that I wanted to contact them to let them know how wonderful the game was. They actually replied, thanking me for my interest and stating they hoped to create an adventure with originality in mind. They also mentioned it was difficult to produce the game without a "big company" endorsement. I think they also mentioned they were no longer doing PC games since the corporations took over the market. That's a real shame, because even today (2002) I still feel AMBER is a very interesting adventure, simply becuse of the environment. The game is simplistic enough to let you use your imagination to take over. The game is dirt-cheap and easy to play, but something about that house keeps drawing me back. Truly, a PC classic!
Rating: Summary: Pretty Good Game for the Price Review: I begin by saying, I purchased this game with mixed feelings. After reading all of the reviews, I was left feeling like this game would be a mixture of good and bad parts. After playing it I can honestly say that it is more good than bad. Yes, occasionally there are bad spots on the game, such as the hallways or the outside turning multicolor, but after you click through those and find your way forward, it usually clears up after one or two movements. I must agree with one reviewer who said this game needs more hints. I was stuck in one or two or three places trying to figure out something and would have to leave the game and come back a few hours later and suddenly it would make sense. The game begins with a very good story, but it does progress into a you must do this to progress to the next step game. For the money you will enjoy the puzzles and finding your way into the ghost realms and of course, back out again so that you can help Roxy. I gave this game four stars instead of five because occasionally the graphics are bad, otherwise it is an enjoyable game.
Rating: Summary: Need more hints Review: The game is very enjoyable. nice graphics, but it needs more hints throughout the game for game challenged players like myself. The "Hints>WRI" file on the cd only gets you started and is very limited.
