Summary: The Best Shooter Out There
Review: This game is the best shooter I've ever played. It extremely funny and doesn't have the 'dark' atmosphere or story that most shooters have (Half-Life, RtCW, Deus Ex, all these games have a dark presence), but this game is very......... uhhhhhhhh not dark. Yah.

Summary: Where's my gun?
Review: A real keeper. This game never fails to entertain. Whether searching for information in exotic locals, falling out of a plane, or sweeping a mine field through rose colored glasses, the beautiful graphics, humor, and never-ending villains out quell your meddling ways will keep you screwed to the keyboard until the cops bust in the door and your children scream out for you to stop and feed them. Worth every penny and should be a benchmark for the industry.

Summary: You GO, GIRL!
Review: Finally, a good first person shooter with a Lady at the helm!
This is a wonderful spy romp (esp if you love old Bond flicks). The game is rather linear, but does take the player to great locations and offers very intersting challenges. A bit too heavy-handed with the stealth requirements (C'mon! Can't she just shoot her way in?), but overall great game play.
I would highly recommend this to all gamers but with a special nod to my fellow girl gamers. If you got tired of looking at Lara Croft's behind in Tomb Raider, you will definitely welcome this game with open arms.

Summary: Great FPS
Review: Bought this after browsing for an FPS after having completed "Deus Ex" and wanting another.

I agree with many of the good reviews below. I'm surprised that it didn't do better in the stores. Forget about the "cute" aspects (unless you like them) such as bunny slippers and sleeping potions. This is a great FPS with good weapons, funny bad guys and a great storyline.

Absolutely plan on getting NOLF2 when it becomes available.

Summary: NOLF is one of the smartest and funnest games ever!
Review: I've got a Pentium 400 with 196mb RAM and a ... standard video card but this game performs smoothly and keeps you riveted. It will have you laughing out loud and rooting for the ol'gal to do well. It's unique for a number of reasons, not the least of which, the main character is a witty, sophisticated, and successful woman. Unlike Laura Croft, Agent Archer will earn your respect! It's also allows you to develop skills based on your performance so each player should be a little different. Buy this game! It's great!

Summary: NEED A CONTROLLER
Review: This game is great. I rented it on Playstation 2 and I loved it. So I bought it for the computer. The training in the begining took me about an hour. It only took me about 10 minutes on playstation. The problem is the controlls. It is much easier to get the hang of the controlls with a controller. The game is good after you get over the controlls first.

Summary: great game for FPS lovers
Review: i got this game when it first came out and was qiute pleased. the graphics are pretty good, but the quake 3 engine tends to be better. the game itself is amazing. it has a cool story great weapons and it is incredibly long. it took ne a while to beat it and i still play it to this day. the multiplayer is only average though. but i would get it only for the single player game. my only complaint is that it is a system hog. when i got it i had a p3 500 with 96megs of ram and a 8meg 3d card. that is pretty much the minimum, yet i could still run it well and enjoyed it. my new computer which is a p4 1.6 with 256 ram and a geforce 3, runs it very well, but i still cant max the all the settings. A WORD OF WARNING, IT IS VERY VERY UNSTABLE ON WINDOWS XP.

Summary: Awesome Game.
Review: This is a must play game. I generally like these action games; however, I also like strategy games as well. "No One Lives Forever" blends action, adventure, and strategy all into one. It's a blend of Austin Powers, James Bonds, and Mission Impossible. The closest game I've played to this one is: Metal Gear Solid. The plot of the game is original: I found myself needing to know what would happen next. The graphics/details are excellent and the AI is amazing. You can sneak up to guards and listen to them babble about humorous conversations and them blast them with a spray of lead, or silently with poison from your hair barret. How you kill the guards will then influence how other guards react or whether you activate the alarm system: You can either go in guns a'blazin or super stealth mode (some levels require you to go undetected by the guards, cameras, or spot lights). Also, the guards just don't stand there when you pump them full of metal: they dodge and roll, hide behind walls, run, activate alarm systems, etc. What really makes this game enjoyable is the plot. Superb voice acting and an interesting/original plot make you craving for more. Sure, Quake III is pretty fun, but how many times can you rocket launch the enemy into a different time zone before it gets tedious?
SUMMARY: If you're the type of person who enjoys games that make you think a bit (just a bit), blend in plenty of action, and takes time to develope the plot and characters: this game is for you! A lot of people state there are too many cut-scenes in this game, but I enjoy watching a "movie" between levels to further develop the plot.

Summary: No One Lives Forever- Another Winner from Sierra
Review: NOFL raises the bar for storylines in the action/shooter genre. Dozens of cut scenes (short video clips) tell out a detailed story worthy of a good Bond movie, with characters that could have been lifted out of an Austin Powers flick. Yes, the story is cliched, but that's why it works so well- it is everything you expect, and more.

The action is also great, with a decent variety of weapons. On the down side, the overall "feel" of the game is not quite as natural as Half-Life, or Return to Castle Wolfenstein, and the graphic quality could be better. However, the action can be quite good, most of the weapons pack a decent punch and Cate Archer is pretty fiesty "Operative". Another nice touch is the extensive character sketches, with each individual meeting a believable fate. I highly recommend.

Summary: Gizmos and funny dialog don¿t make up for an average game:
Review: "No One Lives Forever" is a first-person shooter/sneaker that is set in the 1960's. It has a humorous secret agent theme which combines elements of James Bond with Austin Powers. With the music, scenery, voice-acting, and a welcome dose of humor, this game does a great job of pulling this off. There are long cinematic scenes (sometimes too long) filled with wise-cracking type humor (there is just something about watching stuffy people with British accents insult each other that is funny). Kate Archer is a unique main character that you won't find in any other game. I loved the mission interludes, which is when you get your orders from HQ and learn about the new spy gadgets that your organization has come up with. The graphics, animation, and sound for this game are all very good. These were the highlights of the game.

The game does also add stealth elements, like what you find in "Deus Ex" and "Thief". Enemies will react to sounds of footsteps and gunshots, and security cameras will set off alarms if they focus in on you.

So why did I give this game only three stars? To make it simple - I found the missions themselves to be bland. Add on top of that, there aren't many of them - if you take the cinematic scenes out of this game, it is short. If you strip away the fancy elements, you have mediocre maps and average game play.

The spy elements in this game (the stealth, the gadgets, etc) never lived up to their potential. Lots of the spy gadgets, like the robot poodle, have one or two obvious uses each mission and then become unnecessary. On each mission, it is almost impossible to remain undetected, and it is easy to mow down all of your opponents with your sub-machinegun, so what's the point of trying to sneak around all day? There are some creative levels and settings, but most of them end up as a typical "bad guy hunt" - go to room A, clear out the bad guys, then go to room B, clear out the bad guys... and so on. The maps are small and simple. There are a few good puzzles in this game, but most of the solutions are spoon-fed to you. Other than occasional "intelligence items" that you are supposed to pick up (which are simply left out in the open for you), there aren't many goodies to find, or items to interact with. Even the intelligence items have no outcome on the game -- they are just there if you want to keep score of how much stuff you can find.

I must be spoiled by games like Deus Ex and Thief, which have much richer levels, and a few different ways to solve just about every problem. It is for these reasons that I never felt compelled to play this game for more than about 30-45 minutes before moving on to something else.

If you enjoy first person shooters, then you should pick up this game. But if you haven't played Deus Ex yet, then pick that one up first. It is a much better game.
