Summary: fun driving, hard missions
Review: I only got this game a few days ago, so I can't really comment on the long-term fun value of it, but so far it has been fairly enjoyable.

This game's strongest point is the feel of driving the car. The designers were going for movie car-chase style controls, and they nailed it. Even using the keyboard, it's possible to do every "advanced" driving maneuver in the book. I often go out and get in my car after playing this game and feel like I'm still playing.

The graphics look good with a decent graphics card, especially the night-driving with the extra effects turned on. I know that's more a graphics-card effect than a game effect, but I think it's nice that last-year's graphics card running with all the options on "Ultra" hides the graphics' age, and games on my year-old PC look as good as on a PlayStation2. I didn't like the fact that the road layouts could only make right-angle turns.

The missions in this game are . . . tedious. Maybe once I've gotten better at controlling the car they won't be so much, but it took a 2-hour playing session to pass the "driving test" to get into the missions, and after 3 days of playing the game, I'm still having a hard time completing the first "job". I'm not an expert game-player, but it seems like they should be easier, at least to start out with. Some hard-core gamers probably like it that way, though. (but why would a hard-core gamer be getting a 3-year-old PC game off the bargain rack?)

Oh, and I LOVE slightly-old, bargain-priced games like this one. The system requirements are 1/16 of current top-notch gaming PC's, so last year's PC still plays it like a pro. And the price is great, too!

One other thing: Wal-Mart and Target have this on the shelf for the same price, so unless you got free shipping, you might want to pick the game up elsewhere.

Summary: The best driving game!
Review: I recently bought this game to see how fun it would be, and boy I was not disappointed. This is one of the best racing games that I have ever played. Even though I pretty much play the games and Take A Drive most of the time, it is still a great game. The landmarks are detailed wonderfully and they even have a Shell gas station with gas prices. If you are annoyed by the police coming after you every time you hit a car, and wrecking you after about 30 seconds, I recommend that you use the cheats of Immunity to turn off the cops coming after you, and Invincible to turn off your damage meter. Be warned that if you just turn on invincibility and you don't turn off the cops, you will be wanted by the cops right when you start the game. Driver even has a film director where you can look at a replay of your game from a lot of cameras. I like a lot of the cars but I do not like the fast cars cheat because about 10 seconds into the game with that on, your car turns over and it's Game Over. If you like you racing games, I strongly recommend that you buy this one.

Summary: You ARE The ULTIMATE Wheelman On Atari's "Driver"!
Review: If you LOVE driving games, Atari's "Driver" is a MUST BUY! "Driver" has LOTS of practice games, an engaging and engrossing storyline, mission-based gameplay, and a really COOL "Director Mode" to coordinate, save, and replay the most thrilling car chases. The replays are at different angles, you can choose from three different camera modes and all are really a great bonus!

You play the role of Tanner, a criminal underworld getaway driver (and undercover COP) for hire. This game holds over 40 different missions with increasing difficulty. You're required to complete a wide variety of tasks such as escaping police pursuit, making deliveries, and chasing insubordinate employees in the "Undercover" main mode of play. You are tested on driving skills, interviewed and put up in seedy motel rooms. You get messages on your hotel answering machine for different missions you must accomplish. Nice maps and two different indicators alert you to "DAMAGE" of your vehicle and "FELONY" alerts.

Gameplay takes place across four beautiful U.S. cities--Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, and Miami. You can spin out, use a handbrake, complete backward 180s,360s, burnouts, power slide turning plus a whole LOT MORE! Lots of addictive minigames, from cop pursuits to metal-crunching collisions, are all included making Driver a fun, challenging and never the "same game twice" replay value!

Great and highly ADDICTIVE gaming with "Driver" from ATARI!

ATARI ROCKS and RULZ!

Happy Playing!

Summary: Love to watch cop chase movies? Like 70s cars? Go For This
Review: The physics involved in this game are incredible!!! The burnouts, powerslides, and the weaving/bobbing of the old muscle cars makes this game one of the greatest driving games EVAR!!

It reminded me a lot of the movie Bullit, and if you're a fan of those type of movies, then you should try out this game.

I didn't even need a steering wheel/pedal set for this game. All I used was a standard keyboard.

Summary: AWSOME+COOL=DRIVER!!!
Review: There is'nt much to say except Driver is AWSOME!!!!First of all you have a damage meter and if it goes all the way to the top you have wrecked you'r car.You also have a felony meter, that meter is under the damage meter in the top left corner,if it goes to the top it does not do anything it just means you have commited a lot of crimes(like runnig into stuff). The control is great and realistic,as for the gameplay it is also Great,it has a story line where you are actualy an under cover cop but you trick them and they accept you as there get-a-way driver.

Sincerily,
Snow Leapord

Summary: This is a bugged game. I mean severly bugged
Review: This game is fun. The driving is awesome and its fun to smash a cop into a nearby mini-van, BUT this game has bugges. You can be knocked outside the world and drive off the map! I once drove so far off the world that the game crshed itself. The graphics are O.K but it has a bad case of bugs. If you use the super fast cheat and the freight train cheat (you need to beat the game to get cheats) and you drive at full speed into another car you will see what i mean. This game is very fun, has ZERO replay value, has a million bugs, but is still fun. If you want a game with tons of cop chases and want to make your own car chase "movie" (the editor is bugged too), then this game is for you
