Summary: Extremely addictive(in a good way)!
Review: As a frequent computer gamer, I am always looking for the next best thing... games can be left by the wayside when they become stale.

This may be one of those next things. I played the original M&M, and the second Heroes installment, to my great enjoyment. Fortunately, this newest version does not disappoint players of those older games. In fact, when I first acquired this, it was all I could to tear myself away after several hours.

There are several strong selling points to this game: 1) The audio-visual elements are stellar. From the introductory movie, to smallest details, the visuals are excellent eye-candy. The music is very good: the limited palette of HOMM2 has been replaced with different music for each hero type and castle type. Also, the music is subtle enough to be entertaining even when turned relatively low. 2) Many game options are available. The scenario option from HOMM2 has been expanded... there are now multiple options, and successful completions allow for even more options. Multiplay is again allowed, a very popular option recently. 3) Game play is customizable. The complaint I had with HOMM2 was that even the easiest setting had a bit too much challenge - this game is much more honest in its difficulty rating. Of course, there are always those experts who want the toughest challenge, and they are not left out. Also, the game success scenarios are more varied than ever, including the new "grail" variation on the "capture the artifact" goal. 4) Lots of heroes, with different "advantages" ranging from extra resources to resistance to spells. 5) Most artifacts must be placed on the hero's body, 1 per slot, and there is only limited carrying room. No more super-heroes with 50 artifacts! There is more incentive to "share the wealth", especially for skill-specific artifacts(increasing Necromancy by 5% doesn't mean anything if you don't have that skill). 6) If I haven't covered it already, it's just plain fun.

I would recommend this game to anyone, especially if you enjoyed HOMM2.

Summary: Complete in every sense of the word....
Review: Heroes III Complete is a perfect mix of a turn-based strategy game and a fantasy RPG. Though the graphics aren't comparible to the latest screaming 3-D first-person shooter, the artwork is completely engrossing and more than adequate for their job. The AI is surprisingly tough and, as far as I can tell, doesn't cheat. There are dozens of units, countless characters, and limitless possiblities with the bundled scenarios and random adventure generator. This is one of those games in which you constantly tell yourself that you'll only take one more turn before quitting... and then take another twenty turns before realizing how much time you've sunk into it.

Very addictive.

Summary: >>>>HEROES ta-daaaaaa.
Review: Heroes threeeis the first heroes eye got.I liked Heroes threee. The graphics are really good. At this place called the stables it has horse heads two millimters high and they move! There is a different type of music for each type of terrain and also when you battle someone, it's not just a terrain, there are dozens of different objects there can be and it's actually the type of terrain you are wandering around on. There are dozens of monsters as well. There is seven monsters in each town and each town has it's own terrain. However the idea of having all your guys travel with your characters is stooopid because thay don't even appear on the terrain! And all yor bildings are inside a small town which looks like yor fort/hall/whatever which iz maybe 8 times the size ofa heroe. The campaign is 0k but the first level is way 2 e-z & the 2nd is way 2 uuuurgh aaagh ooof dead. Ds game is 0k/fine/whatever so if you like kinda dumb games this is for kinda dum pursen so dude not recommended haha

Summary: Wow, this game is awesome!
Review: HOMM3 is the first game of the series that I have played. I never realized what I was missing! Every facet of this game is impressive. From the great cut-scenes to the epic battles, you will be lost in this game for MANY hours at a time. The campaign and scenerio options are fantastic, but the fun doesn't end there! Multiplayer battles are simply a blast! I haven't yet (key word, YET) tried this game online, but I have spent long afternoons playing this game with the hot-seat method with buddies. I love the thoughts that fill my mind of what my enemies might do next. A glorius victory in battle against a friend is VERY rewarding! :) I could write page after page about this game, but I REALLY need to get back to playing it! So there you have it, if you even somewhat enjoy strategy or multiplayer games...BUT THIS PRODUCT NOW!

Summary: The Best of the Best
Review: I can see no reason why anyone should not buy this game. It is great. It is turn-based strategy at it's best. Ever since King's Bounty, games in this series have gotten better and better. This game has unlimited replayability due to it's random nature and multiplayer capabilities. In fact, you can multiplayer with just one computer and take turns if you don't want to play online. This game has gotten hours of play every day since I got it, and I don't see anyone getting bored with it anytime soon.

Summary: Decent graphics, decent music, all-in-all a great game
Review: I can't really say that Might and Magic is actually similar to this game, but if you liked the other Heroes of Might and Magic games, you should like this one. The old Mac game 'King's Bounty' was basically the direct predecessor of the Heroes games... Heroes III encompasses all the old creature names, etc., and concepts (MP, HP, Exp., etc.) Retrospectively, Heroes III is essentially a glorified version of its predecessors... spectacular animations, decent music(adding a great environment to the world) and an enhanced interface, allowing you to manipulate your heroes and empire even more. For a new gamer, it takes a while to learn all the functions; I myself am still learning new features. You can try and perfect your strategy in a Hotseat game(playing with other human/computer players on the same computer), Online Multiplayer Game(play against other human/computer players on-line), a regular campaign game, or one of the many scenarios.

Summary: Best Mac game in years
Review: I played Heroes III earlier this year at a friend's house, and I was hooked. I was about to buy the Mac version when I saw that 3do was finally coming out with the expansion set for Mac. The only flaw in this game is that it sucks up your time. If you are not careful, that "one more turn" can keep you up until the rooster crows and it's time for work.

The game is a nice combination of role-playing and strategy games. I prefer turn-based games like this to real-time games like Warcraft, as it is based more on strategy and less on dexterous mouse-clicking. This game is also great for multiplayer, either online with Game Ranger, or the hotseat version with multiple players taking turns on the same computer. The only caveat is that the first player seems to have a better starting position in most scenarios.

The only critisms of this port would be the lack of the map and scenario editors which are available in the PC versions. While there are plenty of scenarios and the randomly generated maps are challenging enough, it would be fun to create your own. The other is that the manual, which should have been printed and not just included on the CD so that you can use it while playing the game, is not comprehensive and uses the tired scam of trying to get you to spend more money to figure out how to win the thing.

That said, I can't think of a better game to buy for the Mac. This one was well worth the wait.
