Rating: Summary: Be careful of the computer you use it on. Review: The requirements of this game say you need a Pentium II (I have a Celeron). I have played other games on my computer with the same requirements without problems (Diablo II, High Heat Baseball, Everquest). But this game behaved on my machine as if it didn't know quite where to put the graphics. The game installed without a problem, but when I tried to run it, what I got was very blocky stuff, with dim colors and fuzzy lines, and could not tell the floor, from a pit, from stairs, from my character, because the color and graphics were so bad (and this was in the beginning tutorial so it should have been easy). Unfortunately, my "graphics card" is a built-in chipset 810 from Intel so I wasn't able to install a higher graphics card (which can be done but requires a lot of complicated adjustments on my IBM Aptiva 2270). When I played this game on a more powerful computer, however, it worked just fine and was as fun to play as all the other reviews said. So a warning to all who buy this game...do NOT try to install or play it without a higher-end graphics card and pentium II or greater processor...the system requirements listed by the manufacturer are absolutely ESSENTIAL to running this game, unlike some games where a Celeron and built-in graphics card may function as well as a Pentium II....won't work for this game.

Rating: Summary: Lacking the final polish Review: This game has great potential and lives up to it in many areas. The atmosphere, the graphics, the lighting and the shadows, and the sounds are simply gorgeous most of the time. The enemy damage model is also impressive, gotta love hacking and slashing your enemies to bits and pieces (some kind of a stabbing attack might have been nice maybe). However, the game lacks in areas of playability. For starters, the main menu is one of the most awkward ones I have ever seen, with only the arrow keys working, and a lengthy delay (with a tiring "KA-CHUNK!" sound) between each option you can cycle through - if you have 20 options to cycle through you need patience. Even when you start the game for the first time and load a saved game it asks, "Are you sure?". Had the developers had time to polish their product, these problems would be gone. And then there are the controls. While I don't mind a few extra control keys, the problem lies in the character's controllability. The character must finish every animation before allowed to continue (including all moves, not just the fighting ones), which means there are constant small delays with the controls. While this is realistic in a way, players want instant feedback or they get frustrated. This gets especially problematic with the tight jump puzzles. The few instant deaths scattered around, and the slowness (and awkwardness) of the game saves and loads reduce the fun factor. The game is very difficult. I probably shouldn't have started playing with Naglfar the Dwarf, but even after becoming comfortable with the controls, the enemies got the better of me most of the time. You are occasionally faced with insanely difficult battles that you must attempt several times before you succeed (which is not very fun with the slow game loading), and even then you'll end up almost killed and may not be given a chance to recover. Another balance factor thing that could have been fixed in the final stage of development. I admit I ended up cheating a little and giving my character a couple extra levels of experience to get comfortably challenged. But so far I've had great fun regardless. There aren't many games of this kind around. It's kind of like an interactive Conan movie. In its own genre, this game excels.
Rating: Summary: bloody fine piece! (pronounced in robin hood style) Review: this game is great! you can perform about 20 different moves and combos, you can use about 100 different objects (including chairs and enemies' libms) to hurt people. you can eat cheese and you can set things on fire... also i've never seen game with graphics like this. the shadow almost looks real. blood... that's the best part. you can slap somebody with your bare hand and all floor will be covered with blood. can you imagine what happens when you take a sword? i loved the idea of "flaming/freezing" weapons. (you can set enemies on fire with one hit or you can freeze them and brake with one kick). deffinitely the bloodiest game after QUAKE3
Rating: Summary: Amazing Review: This game is great, there is not much more to say about it. The graphics are brilliant, Gameplay is huge. Once you've started it you will not want to stop. The Gore is Great! Brilliant game. The only thing left to say is 'BUY IT!' :-)
Rating: Summary: Beautiful graphics, great gameplay value Review: This game, followed by "Die by the Sword" is a unique, Hack-N-Slash 3rd person game. You start the game by choosing from 4 characters, a barbarian, knight, dwarf, or an amazon. Each character has specific qualities, such as defense, attack, and weapon abilities. Each character has a different starting level, but after that, all the levels are the same (that's not necessarily bad). The only problem I have with the game is of the storyline. It is somewhat confusing, and the narrator constantly uses words that throw you off the game. This is covered up by the gameplay, however. The controls, as many people would complain about, aren't that difficult to master. Everyone considers it difficult, because its a new interface. Throughout the game, you kill various monsters, and from them you get experience points. With these points you eventually level up, giving you more health, higher stamina, and the abilities to new combination moves for your weapons. Overall, this game is a MUST for players you like Hack-N-Slash gaming, and anyone who enjoys gore. Even though the storyline is a bit... out there, and the controls are considered hard, the game is worth it.

Rating: Summary: some useful advice Review: This is an excellent game once you get used to the moves, but the characters stats are not very generous, it is easy to get worn down to little health by many monsters when you make one or two mistakes. This is trivial to fix however if you go into the Stats folder in the Severance directory and alter the CharData.py file with notepad (make a backup first!). Then you can bolster defences and health and have endless stamina in fights. However be warned that utterly invulnerable characters are actually quite boring to play, there needs to be some risk!
Rating: Summary: not perfect, but great. Review: Well, to begin, I must say I play more console games than PC games, so my experience in PC games is not really big. As most others agree, the visuals are real good, shadows, monsters, everything is pretty good. The control is good, not very good or great, just good. It has a lock-on target similar to the Z-targeting Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time , which I find a very good feature. the problems I find, are that, for one, you can't walk sideways unless you are using the lock-on on some enemy. The steps the character takes are a to long, making you fall into pit's quite often, an analog joystick would really help, in my opinion. Sometimes, I don't know why it happens, maybe it's my fault, when you press back, the character either tries to atack or does some weird movement, and when there are a fewbadies in front, you get REALLY hurt. Other than that, the game is very good, I don't regret getting it and if you like exciting and challenging melee combat, this game is for you.
