Review: It's Doom. Doom. It's hard to believe, but it's possible that a lot of people are too young to have played this when it came out, all of seven years ago. Basically, you run around a series of techno / medieval levels, shooting things. It's very simple and good fun - indeed, it's a lot more fun than the technologically-superior follow-up 'Quake'. If you've ever wanted to mow down a room full of zombies with a burst of chaingun fire, this is the game for you. It's a modern classic, and just as much fun as it ever was - as with 'Wolfenstein' you can only really play it in fifteen-minute bursts before getting bored, but the small size and speed of the game on modern machines means that you can use it as a desktop toy, a diversion whilst doing something else. And as a piece of history it's unsurpassed, network game and all.

This package contains the original 'Doom' and two extra sections, both of which are very hard indeed. The game has been updated for Windows '95, and can run at a slightly higher resolution to the original. Note that there's a superior 'Doom Collection' out there, which compiles 'Final Doom', 'Doom 2', and a thousand-odd extra levels.

In addition, it's worth finding the 'GLDoom' patch, which enables 3D-acceleration and higher resolutions. This transforms the game - you can see all the way into the distance.

As for '3-Demon', '3D Monster Maze' for the ZX81 beats it by three years.

Summary: DOOMEE RIGHT, HAHA!
Review: SIMPLY PUT, THIS GAME IS A ONE OF A KIND. IF STUPID MEANS PLAYING A GAME WITH LOTS OF ACTION AND CHALLENGING MAZES, WITH 7 WEAPONS, AND BEING SCARED SHIITE-LESS (WHEN PLAYED ALONE IN THE DARK), THNE YES, I MUST CONFESS MY STUPIDITY. THIS GAME ROCKS. THE LEVELS ARE DIFFICULT, AND THE BAD BOYS DON'T STOP COMING, AND THATS IN KIDDIE MODE. I REALLY HOPE THEY MAKE A NEW DOOM. I'D DEFINATELY BUY IT

Summary: Was the best game at that time
Review: This game was loved by every one. Fast shooting game. The graphic was way above perfect back in 1993. A lot of people bought new computer to play the game. Today, doom 3 should have the same impact on the gamers. the game is asking more hardware and will boost the gaming industry standard for sound, graphic and other technology. (coming out the 3 august)

Summary: Doom
Review: Through the course of the nineties, several Doom titles were released. These games were very basic first person shooters, but still very fun. Read on to see what makes these games cool
Graphics: 1.75/5
Yuck. NOT ONCE in the course of the Doom series did anyone ever bother to try cleaning up the graphics (unless you count Doom 64 on the Nintendo 64.) These are pixelated beyond belief, and with these kinds of graphics, it's surprising the games actually get mature ratings.

Play Control: 3.5/5
That rating is for a standard PC keyboard. Believe it or not, this game plays just fine with one! You've got movement buttons, switch weapon buttons, a firing button, a run button, and strafing buttons. You adjust to this surprisingly fast. Before playing the Doom series I never thought a keyboard could work so well for a game controller. However, I remain confident a controller is the better thing to use.

Challenge: N/A
All Doom games feature adjustable challenge levels.

Theme/Fun: 3.25/5
Games in this series are much more simplistic than other first person shooters. Basically you just kill enemies and find keys to escape from dungeons. If you want a good first person shooter without complex objectives and controls, and don't mind pixelation, the Doom series is for you.]

Music/Sound: 2/5
Very basic sound effects. Music is virtually nonexistant.

Storyline: 3/5
All games have a slightly varied storyline, but the general principle is the same - kill the demons and restore peace. Your adventure takes you through earth, the moons of Mars, and even Hell itself.

Overall: 3/5
Let's face it, these games are horribly outdated, but they're still a pleasant diversion from boredom. Most Doom games were on the PC, but a few made it to video game consoles. If you've got one of them, you may want to give these games a whirl if you want a simplistic shooter.

Summary: For DOOM lovers mostly
Review: With more advanced games out there like Duke Nukem 3D and Quake out there, this game won't be of much good for anyone but the most dedicated DOOM players. So unless you are DOOM lover, this is not meant for you.
