Summary: Half Life is Awesome!
Review: This first person action game is great, whether you are playing the the single player game or online with other players. The computer A.I. (artificial intelligence) is great in the single player game. The creatures/enemies in the game will take you by surprise. This game is the best first person action game that I've played so far.

Summary: The Best First Person Shooter to-date
Review: When I popped in the CD and the intro started playing, I was stunned. At first I didn't realize that I could move around in the tram! The CD was playing some eirie music (all the music is in CD track format), and the computerized voice of the tram was quietly talking in the background, telling me about the Black Messa research facility, and all that was done there. As I was slowly going down the track, I was looking out all the windows, watching special robots going into radiation pools, scientists running this way and that (about the size of ants at times), going through one huge vault door after another, then watching them ominously close behind me... all this creating a sort of sense of doom. Finally, I arrived at my destination. And a security gaurd greeted me somewhat comically, and let me know I was late today. It was an odd wakeup from the sense of dread. Everything unfolds like a book. The scripted sequences in which you could move around were very well executed. The sound was breathtaking. I could hardly beleive my ears. The programers obviously wanted some of the best sound to date when they created this masterpiece. For example: When you shoot your glock (SWEET gun) in a large, cavernous room, it will reverberate all over the walls. If you shoot within a cramped, stuffy air vent, it will be a dead thud of a sound, as you pump a few rounds into a crab thing in front of you. And so on. It is simply amazing what they have done with the sound engine. The graphics, though a little outdated now, still stand on their own two feet. And the engine runs quite well in high resolutions, even when in a VERY large area. (e.g. a broken down elevator shaft with a 500' drop, with a high roof to boot!) The AI is awsome. I loooved the "grunts" (government guys) and assasins. It was frightening how intelegent they were. I found myself strafing around corners frequently emptying magazines at them, while they filled me with led, and I, running for help, as they tracked me down, covering eachother. And I, still running, listening to them chatting over their headsets. The little cute puppy dog alien things were really cool. Sometimes I would walk around a corner, and find one looking at me for a split second (taking in the large arsenal at my disposal... by then covering my whole body;), then making a cute little raptor type sound jumping around the corner (and note, the sound is all echoing as it should, making it seem even more eirie). As I run around the next corner chasing it, I find 5 others, waiting to eat what may become my carcase. The only complaint I have is the violence. For crying out loud... what's the point? I know you can "turn it off", but there is still the corpses lying around in pools of blood, and bloody hand prints around them. I know, you may think I'm wimpy. No, it doesn't bother me. I just don't see what the point to such things is. And, it gives games a bad name as well. All I ask is when you turn the content control on, make it a little more efficient. I appreciate their thought that some parents don't want all the blood and guts... as comically like Monty Python's Search for the Holy Grail as it may be. :)

Other than that, I HIGHLY recommend this game... it's great, I loved it. And if you get stuck, it's your own fault. You aren't doing something right. Valve made just the right combination of difficulty, and... whatever else it takes to make it possible to go on. I found myself stuck in a couple of parts, and then realizing how stupid I was not to think of whatever it may have been.

Summary: Easily the best game ever made!
Review: Half-Life is everything you would want in a game... graphics, control, weapons, not too many boundaries, and AN AWESOME STORYLINE! I'm not even into Sci-Fi stuff, but I was sucked into this game. Don't you dare use any codes or cheats for this game, it'll completely ruin the game for you. Buy this game ... it is so worth it!

Summary: gg LOL
Review: Alright already. It's a great game. Good AI, graphics. Runs well. Atmospheric. Great story and dialogue. Comedy. Blah, blah, blah.

Wait a minute. I got a complaint! That movie in the beginning. You can't escape it. It just goes on and on babbling while you're stuck in a stupid tram car. Sheesh. What a bore. That kind of nonsense will cost you a star. Later, I went thru that ride a few times because I grew to like the eerie understated music. Still, I think I should have been able to skip the intro movie. Ruined the whole game for me.

Summary: Only for weird taste guys
Review: Although the game technologies used in half life might be good, this game requires weird taste to enjoy. Too much violence, and full of ugly, disgusting things. I had only uncomfortable experience from half life.

This game is a typical example of technically biased game but totally lack of sense of beauty. The reputation seems to come from game industry that wants to simply sell it.

Summary: You play the star in this exceptional action 'movie'
Review: Forget Quake II, Sin and other lesser experiences, Half-Life is the unchallenged ruler of the single player action game. The excitement comes from playing the unlikely hero in a fantastically well scripted movie.

Due to an experimental accident you become trapped in a fictional 'Area 51' type of underground facility. The experiment you were working on created a dimensional portal that damaged the base and unleashed hordes of repulsive aliens hell bent on destruction. Your mission, should you choose to accept it (like you have a choice!) is to get out of the base alive and get help. Unfortunately the military have other Ideas. The military brass wants the whole problem to go away, they want to kill the aliens and all the scientists too. Your only allies in your herculean task are a few intellectually challenged security guards and a few terrified scientists. Fortunately you have the use of an 'Earthworm Jim' environmental suit and along the way you accumulate a devastating arsenal of weapons. The time to chew gum is over, the time to kick a$$ has begun.

Summary: Genre-buster
Review: If you're into First person shooters, this game is a must have. From an interesting and complex plot to enemy AI that will keep you on your toes throughout the whole game, Half-Life is well thought out and designed and a lot of fin to play. The only drawback is the poor net performance, it's all but unplayable on a 56.6K modem, so if it's internet connectivity you're looking for, Unreal tournament or Q3A might be better choices

Summary: Sick, twisted...I love it!
Review: This game is definitely a hundred steps past Quake and others of its type. The AI is great. The evolving story is great. The fight against the Special Forces team is nerve wrackingly great. However, all this greatness became stale, I never bothered to finish the game. The game just seemed to grow old after a time. Maybe it needs something more to carry the player through?
