Rating: Summary: Best D&D Game Ever. Review: Baldur's Gate was, in my opinion, a terrific game engine that was lacking in story. Baldur's Gate II took the original game engine and improved upon it in every way, right down to little details like pausing the game on the inventory screens and making spell effects more flashy. Your characters gain much more power and begin to feel like real heroes as you reach epic levels...no more dying via a kobold commando. The story is incredible, with a villain who comes across as ominous instead of using Sarevok's strategy of hire a guy to hire a guy to hire a guy to kill the main character. To top everything off, there are a number of excellent NPC conversations, both with the main character and with other NPCs in the party. There are even romance threads with four of the characters, each which ends in a satisfying manner, although one of them is steeped in tragedy. Overall, Baldur's Gate II is the best electronic RPG that I've seen, and is one of the few ERPGs that I've seen that can match up with table top games.
Rating: Summary: Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn Review: I have been playing games since the young age of 6, so I know a good game when I see one. I purchased BGII:SOA recently and it was one of the best purchases I have ever made. Unfortunatly the game stuffed up after a while(Due to a damaged CD), but I am willing to re-pay the price to buy another copy. This time around I may buy Throne of Bhaal as well. Anyway, the fact is if you are looking to buy this game, BUY IT. Even though the whole Advanced D+D thing is a bit intimidating(Ever seen the board game's manuals!!!), you do not need to know anything technical. And if you are looking to buy this game as a gift, you will be popular with the reciptent. Mixing tactical combat with in-depth gameplay makes an over-all thrilling experience not to be missed. Bearing 300 spells(yes, you read right.), and over 100+ hours of spectacular gameplay, you will never grow tired of playing this game. Although I haven't played them, the other members of the Forgotten Realms family should be worth a look as well, such as Icewind Dale and Planescape: Torment. Overall an excellent game, not to be missed by D&D or adventure lovers alike. *****(5 Stars)
Rating: Summary: If you have to cheat, it's no fun Review: Am I the only one who thinks running through battles over and over until you win, reloading the game every time something bad happens, and exploring new areas with the safety of a million saves is cheating? It'd be fine if it was possible to get through the game without doing these things, but as far as I can tell the game is specifically designed so that you have to die or fail at each major encounter at least once in order to figure out how to survive it. To me this destroys any sense of real adventure, since there's no risk involved.I enjoyed the richness of the game and the feel of the action sequences once I got used to the interface. But once I started getting seriously into the game the pleasures became very empty. It's not enough to have lots of rich and interesting sites and encounters; they could've made a movie with highlights from someone else playing the game and achieved the same basic effect. I want to feel as though I've earned those experiences through ingenuity and hard work, not by simply reloading a thousand times (which is probably not an exaggeration by the end of the game). Someday a true RPG will come; until then, I have better things to do.
Rating: Summary: Single Player not as good as the original Review: Ever since I got the original Baldur's Gate for Christmas 2000 from a friend, I've been playing in almost non-stop. For my birthday (July) in 2001, I bought myself the sequel. While installing, I was very excited, and I was very impressed in the beginning by the superior graphics and sound quality. However, two weeks into the game, and I became very less enthusiastic. Why? There's no PLOT. All you do is run around, solving whatever little quest comes up. In the original, there was a goal that you had to complete, and each chapter was leading you up to that final goal. BGII seems to be made up entirely of sub-quests, with no real objective for the player to complete. In my opinion, the whole POINT of an RPG is the plot. In summary, I was very disappointed with the single player campaign. However, although I have not yet tried it, the superior graphics should make this game much more fun in multiplayer that the original.

Rating: Summary: review Review: Well I thought it was good but it took to long to talk.
Rating: Summary: The Greatest RPG of all time. Review: Wow. Baldur's Gate II is a masterpeice. BG2 amazes from the begging to the end. Featuring hundreds of spells, a unique cast, and tons and tons of adventure. While sometimes difficult, BG2 is a must buy for any Role Playing Game fan and an improvement over the stellar original. With over 100+ hours of gameplay, BG2 is also an incredible value.
Rating: Summary: Baldur's Gate II, hours of puzzling, battling, majic fun. Review: When I baught this game, I was yurning for a good rpg that was quest driven with an in-depth storyline. For months I dreamed of the perfect experience gaining, battling, majic casting rpg. When I baught Baludr's Gate II, it fulfilled this dream to the max. Having played baldur's Gate I, I knew I had the right idea. This game has a lot of replay value. You don't have to make the same choices twice. You can interact with most of the npc's, and you can complete each quest in so many different ways, you'l never get board. Be good, be neutral, or be evil! I highly recommend it.
Rating: Summary: An RPG experience not to be "Forgotten" Review: This is one of the best overall games I have ever played. As an old school "pen & paper" RPGer I was very impressed with the game play of Baldur's Gate II. I am happy that these style of games are produced. I highly recommend this game to any one that wishes to lose a few monthes of their lives playing this incredible game. The story was engrossing, the graphics were awe-inspiring, and the combat was brutal. I did find that the system requirements were over stated, as I played the game with a Pentium 200 and a vidoe card from 5 years ago.
Rating: Summary: romanticism transformed Review: perhaps it was the idealized speech, or the gently set landscapes, or the prospect of magic talismands, or even the storyline, but whatever it was, I can definately say that this game is "romantic". Yet, even in saying this, I still appreciate this game perhaps more than any RPG game I have ever played. Now, If you're like me, and appreciate games for their gameplay and not their beauty, then this game might not entice you at first, yet it is quite engrossing. It pulled many aspects that I enjoyed about Diablo II and Nox into the game (although I am not commending Westwood for that Diablo want to be) and also had many "board game-like aspects". And suprisingly, I did eventually find the romantic blend of Realism and surrealism set in a Tolkien-like setting quite interesting. The weapon and item inventory was well thought-through, with a hint of intellectualism injected into the story. All and all, I would say that this game redefined the romantic RPG.
