Summary: JUST BUY IT
Review: The only bad thing I can say about it is..... unlike some other games like it, it doesn't give you the idea of being a part of a team because if you die you can't just switch to another player. Other than that its the best Shooter out there. The online gaming is awsome. Better than anything out there.... you may not like it though if you like the Fast pace of Quake3 but if you like real life combat this is the one for you.

Summary: Wonderful
Review: I'd only like to address a few of the negative things that others have said, I agree with all the positive.
First, the initial release is unstable, but download the patch and that problem is solved.
Second, the game does have very steep system requirements if you want to run it at the highest levels, but it is worth it.
Lastly, it is realistic, but I think that in its realism, it becomes more fun, not less. I personally don't think that it is all that fun to charge a group of enemies, get shot ten times, still live, and kill them all. I much prefer this game, where one shot will probably kill you, but also your enemies.

Overall, a must buy, if you have the hardware and the love of realistic FPSs.

Summary: WHY SHOULD YOU BUY THIS GAME???
Review: I was at the store and I saw this game. I had to make a decision between either this or Operation Flashpoint. I chose this because I am a big fan of Rainbow Six and I heard Ghost Recon was similar. What a great decision I made, since I've got this game, it's hard not to get away from it. The graphics.....well..are graphic. For example when you throw a gernade or shoot your gernade launcher and it explodes near the enemy, you'll see the enemy's body fly a bit from the concusion of the gernade and shrapnel flying everywhere.
Even more graphic is when you shoot somebody, especially with the sniper rifle, they react pretty realistically. The best way to explain it is comparing it to Saving Private Ryan when that sniper was taken out all those Germans from the bell tower. I really felt like a "bad-to-the-bone" sniper. The sound effects are just as awesome. Each level had distinct sound effects, like in level 8 you can hear jets flying over head and artillary fire in the distance. In level 9 you hear the slosh of the mud as you work your way through the swamps and you can hear rain falling into the shallow water, on top of that, the scenery is absolutely beautiful, although you don't have much time to enjoy it while you're being shot at.
Another great thing about this game is how upgradable it is. You can download weapons, items and missions from the internet called "MODS" and have them in your game making it even more fun. I even downloaded a mod that made the game even bloodier and wounds more realistic to the eye. There is a lot of support out there for this game, especially websites created by fans where you can download great items .... With all those options out there on the web, the game never gets stale.
However, like all games out there, this is not all perfect. One big downside is, to really enjoy this game, you need to download a patch for this game which weighs in at a whopping 44Mb. Enemies can sometimes not be realistic. You could be a mile away and an enemy takes you out with one shot, they are sometimes way to accurate to be realistic, thus leaving you to unconventionally manipulate certain areas where you know the enemy is, in order to beat that level, giving you the feeling that you're beating the gamedesigner, rather than the enemy. Another thing that I wasn't super crazy about was you can't see your rifle barrel in front of you when you're playing, although its minor and doesn't effect gameplay, it's just something that I feel would've added to the realism. Other than that the game is quite fun. Also getting on the internet to play is even more fun. I almost feel like I'm playing paintball or laser tag with other people. It's not hard to start up multiplayer over the internet, it's free and you can play decently at even 56k. I play at around 36k or even lower and it seems to do fine. This game is a bit expensive but I highly recommend giving it a try and you wont regret. I'm glad I did and it works really smoothly on my two year old LAPTOP!

Summary: Anyone giving this less than 5 stars needs help
Review: Read anyone of the reviews for Ghost Recon on this site, that show less than 5 stars, and you know that these people are the ones that are NEVER happy with anything. This game is soooo cool, and yes it sounds like I'm fan boy material...but this pretty much says it all...lots of replay value with quick battle options...and the multiplayer internet has been smoothed out to real fun.

Summary: Great fun suffers because of kit restrictions
Review: This game is a lot of fun, and is excellent when it comes to sound, graphics, and gameplay. The only problem is that you are only allowed 1 weapon and 1 item, where as in Rogue Spear you are allowed 1 weapon, a secondary weapon, and 2 items. Also, if you run out of ammo, which is unlikely but possible, you cannot pick up dead soldiers' weapons. Your man becomes helpless.

But I've been dwelling on the bad part of this game. This really is one of the best games I've ever played and is well worth the price, especially for the internet play.

Summary: The best Tom Clancy has to offer!
Review: I'll have to agree with Nathan Alterton on this one. Everything he stated in his review is right on the money. There is only one thing about Ghost Recon, that just ticks me off! And that's the Artificial Intelligence. Oh sure the Enemy AI is by fare the best I've seen yet. But the AI of your fellow soldiers is not something suited for military personel. Ghost Recon has your soldiers acting more like a rookie fresh out of a paintball academy, than one who has spent years perfecting their skills. Usually they will only engage an enemy after their shot at first, which usually kills a team member in the process. But that being the only flaw I can find in Ghost Recon, it sure would be nice to see an improvement in the Expansion Pack.

And the on-line play, JUST AMAZING! The enviroments make for a great experience going up against some of the greatest GR players. The action is intense and it really gets your adrenaline pumping! The only down side is the UBI server that it runs off of. I suggest playing through IP or using the All-Seeing Eye rather than UBI. UBI tends to crash alot, and also gives bad ping to players with a cable connection or better. I have a 56K modem, and sometimes my ping is better than someone with a T1 connection. But you should really try it out, it's a blast! (If your looking for a challenge, look for a clan known as the *Fierce*, I'm part of em, and they won't leave you disappointed!) Don't get me wrong Ghost Recon has to be my favorite game of all time, next to Grand Theft Auto 3. Ghost Recon is definitely a game that is well worth your time and money!

Summary: Don't be fooled
Review: This is my favorite fps to date, and will probably stay that way for a while. Don't think I haven't played recent games either, I have played most recent first person shooters, like mohaa, command and conquer renegade, and Serious sam 2, and this game blows them all away, especially if you like realism. The adding of the quicksave from previous Rainbow games was a must, as missions take much longer than those of Rainbow 6 and Rogue spear. Also, the maps are much larger than Rogue Spear maps, they can be up to 400x400 meters. Also, like previous Tom Clancy games, the game is extremely realistic, as you can take only 1-3 shots before you're dead (quuuuuiiiiiiite unlike Medal of Honor Allied Assault, where you can take up to 10 shots), and the weapon models are very accurately represented, and a description of how the weapon is used by the army is included. The people who have problems with the AI either play the game way too much and don't quicksave enough, so they get really mad when they make a mistake, or are playing on the easiest difficulty setting. The process of a mission for the first time is very tense (if you don't just quicksave and rush in to see where enemies are), especially on the larger maps because a shot could ring out, and one of your men could die, and you don't even know where the enemy is (this is not problematic though). The graphics are first rate; I have even found myself staring at the character models during a mission to see if my man had a hook nose or not. The sound is even better, and if you have ever heard one of these guns before, you might recognize the sound from the bullets. I personally love unlocking the specialists just to see what new weapons I will get and what kinds of different close they will have. One improvement over Rainbow 6 and Rogue spear is that you don't want to tell your people where to go at the start of a mission, and you can cancel a waypoint, allowing you to respond to a situation if you become caught in a firefight and lose a man or two (although you will probably just quickload unless you are testing yourself). I did notice one awkward thing, if you quicksave, and just after that an enemy pops out of the forest, and one your men is killed, you can just quickload and let the scene play out again, and the man who died will usually live. After all of this I just cannot refrain from giving this game 5 stars, and if you buy it, you won't be able to either.

Summary: Best Game Ever
Review: This game is the real thing when you get shot you're dead on the spot. This isn't a phony James Bond game. The scenery and sound is life-like.

Summary: Awesome game, a challenge
Review: This game is one of the best I have ever played!!!! I highly recommend it to anyone who wants it. Buy this game!!!! The graphics are great, the sounds better, and the default controls are good too! Also it has good replay value!
There are a few problems though. For one sometimes (rarely) your men will walk in front of each other and kill themselves. Also the grenades dont work very well. But I still recommend it!

Summary: Ghost Recon Review
Review: Please ignore the other reviews that say how hard it is to move your men around the command map. It is very simple and it is not dangerous to do during a battle at all. GR is a great game and I highly recomend it.
