Rating: Summary: Needs Work... Review: this game has potential, but falls short. i'm not impressed. After playing Operation Flashpoint, Medal of Honor, and Return to Castle Wolfenstein, Ghost Recon is a dud. Here are my reasons:1.the graphics are poor-a few notches above Delta Force 2. They are somewhat pixelated, even with a fast card (i've got a GeForce 2 MX 400 64 mb) and with the graphic settings cranked up, it still looks mediocre. The soldiers on your squad look pretty good, but every thing else is sort of blah. And when aiming your reticule, it doesn't move smoothly like Operation Flashpoint or any other good working game... it wants to land on the nearest pixel 2. The bugs. good Lord the bugs. On my system, Windows ME, Pentium III 1.1 ghz, 256 MB ram, and GeForce 2, I experience a bunch of bugs even after applying the official patches. the worst one being a bad flickering around the aiming reticule making it almost impossible to aim or fire. some people have no problems, but just visit UBI's forum and see about 100 pages of tech problems. 3.The hands? No hands or weapons are viewable! What! Thats not realistic, it's laziness on Red Storms part. So it's like you are playing a souped up target shooting game, from the old days of Nintedo, Duck Hunt anyone?
Rating: Summary: Excellent Tactical FPS Review: First, this game runs fine right out of the box. In the age of Pool of Radiance, it is nice to know that you don't have to check the internet for patches before you install a game. Second, the tutorial is informative and actually kind of fun. This was a pleasant surprise for me after playing Rainbow Six shooting ranges. Third, the game has great graphics. Trees sway, the snipers wear real sniper outfits, and the tracers flying by your head make you want to duck for cover. Fourth, the game has a very user-friendly interface. Commanding your troops mid-battle is extremely simple, removing the need for the complex planning that made the Rainbow Six games so boring for me. Fifth, this is a very fun game. Blowing up tanks is just a very fun thing to do in a computer game. Added touches like the realistic sniper rifle zoom make the game one you'll want to keep playing. In fact, I think I'm going to play it right now.
Rating: Summary: BEST FPS EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Review: I'll just start off by saying, one of the best games ever made. Graphics: they are the greatest, if you have a good grahics card. If the graphics aren't the best you've ever seen, you need a new card. Sounds: Terrific. I've got a really nice speaker system and it really makes you feel like you're actually in Europe. Gameplay: AI is really good. If you make a motion in front of them they'll pick it up immediately. The weapons selection is great. Everything from the typical M-16 to the new high-tech OICW (Objective Individual Combat Weapon). Very Good In closing, I'd highly reccomend this game for kids 13 and up. For worried parents out there, the blood and gore can be turned off so its nothing more then a T (teen) rated game.
Rating: Summary: Rainbow Six steps down as the tactical shooter king Review: If you were a fan of the Rainbow Six games, Operation Flashpoint, or the Delta Force series, you are in for a real treat with Ghost Recon. Borrowing heavily from the mechanics of Rainbow Six and Rogue Spear, Ghost Recon moves combat into a long range, outdoor battlefield loaded with cover, concealment, and eye candy. The gameplay is thoughtful and intense at the same time; strategy and calm nerves will always see you to victory. The combat is all about out-maneuvering your opponents, stealth and steadily placed shots. If you are of the "run right at him and fire" school, you're going to need to learn some new tricks. The atmosphere in the game is great, as close as it comes to the real thing. Every firefight you are engaged in feels like it is right out of a great war movie--tracers whizzing by your ears, rounds thumping into dirt and chipping off of stone, soldiers yelling "We've got wounded!" over the cracking of their M16 fire. Trees sway in the wind, bushes give a rustle if you bump into them, and NV goggles are a *must* at night. It really is fantastic. Red Storm has again outdone themselves with this superb title. This is the infantry sim we've all been waiting for.
Rating: Summary: realistic, stable, resource hungry Review: I am an active SWAT sniper with the secondary duty of maintaining my department's computer network and individual systems. Note that you need a solid system to play this game. My AMD Athlon TBird 1.2 GHz / 128MB RAM / Abit 64MB GeForce2 MX400 video does fine. I expect the reviews complaining of bugginess, poor graphics, etc. simply are from systems in need of serious upgrade or just have some unusual incompatibility issues. I have played the RS series to death and love it. The improvement I see in the GR demo is the ability to prone out and low-crawl, the threat of enemy frag grenades (I found that the hard way!), and even more immersive background effects. I loved hearing the near-misses of enemy bullets hitting hard objects close to me. That will get your attention! Certainly, it's not a perfect game, but after all, it IS a game! I have been highly impressed with these products. I'll be getting the full version of GR and GR:Desert Siege with my next paycheck! I don't know about the mission planning aspect... I haven't figured it out in the demo yet. Based on the other reviews, it sounds to be more flexible on-the-fly, which is great, but nonexistent pre-planning, which is not-so-great. Oh, well. You just can't have it all!
Rating: Summary: This is THE BEST miliatary game out there Review: I have bought just about every military game out there right now. My latest and most disapointing purchase was Operation Flashpoint, which is a complete joke compared to Ghost Recon. In Ghost Recon, your getting top of the line graphics, sound and gameplay. You will need a decent system to run this on. I'm on a 1.6 GHZ P4 640MB RAM, with a Geforce3 TI card, and it looks great. The outdoor sounds are the best part of it all. You hear the gunshots, you hear the enemies talking in russian as you sneak up on them in the night and on and on. Your gonna feel like your out in the woods fighting a war. Your team also takes good care of itself, and will actually make kills for you and even save you a few times. You can also switch to first person control of any one of your 5 team members, including the sniper, which is the most fun to control. You can zoom in with a crystal clear detail filled scope and hit a perfect shot. You can also Save the game all you want, to avoid replaying entire missions as you do in lesser games. The bottom line is this game is ALOT of fun. I reviewed this game when I first got it, and I'm reviewing it again after seeing Operation Flashpoint so over rated by other reviewers. It's nothing compared to the realism and fun of Ghost Recon. I HIGHLY reccomend this game.
Rating: Summary: THIS is Even for you OCCASIONAL Gamers Review: To start, I'm running a Pentium 4 1.6GHZ, 256MB RAM, to a 19 inch trinitron Monitor, backed up by the Nvidia Geforce3 TI series 3d Accelerator. The graphics are AMAZING. The sound is even more mind boggling. You'll actual FEEL like your out on the battle field. The best part of the game is the ease of game play itself. The controls for a game of this level could have been extremely hard to learn. However, you can adjust the entire keyboard to fit your standards. If your someone who's sick of buying computer games that are too hard to learn how to play, or too fast paced to even enjoy, then say hello to Ghost Recon. It's the most playable, yet high tech game on the market today. I'm a huge fan of SWAT 3, and this is the military version. I highly suggest you try it. **Update** I put this on my new Dell 8200 system (P4 2.8ghz, Geforce 4 Ti 4600) and let me tell you its even BETTER looking. This is a masterpiece of computer gaming. I also have the Pro-Media 5.1 Surround Sound system at 500 watts with 6 speakers, and the sound is even more out of this world. If youve got the system setup GO for this one.
Rating: Summary: So much potential lost Review: I've had Ghost Recon on and off of my hard drive since it first came out. I keep reinstalling it, perhaps thinking maybe the friendly AI have gotten smarter. The graphics are top notch....but the friendly AI prove very frustrating. I've yet to pick up on what is so "realistic" about this game, as you're supposedly leading a Special Forces unit that has members that act as if they're straight out of the School of Infantry. They will not provide a base of fire when the target(s) are practically right in front of them, so you can forget about planning even the most rudimentary of offensive actions. Waypoint finding is at times laughable, at other times, you will want to shoot your squad members yourself, or thrill at their getting wasted for being so dumb. Try to get them to clear a small house. No in-game weapon view, but simply a reticle on your HUD. In multiplayer games, this can prove deadly as you try to remain concealed, but your position is given away by a protruding barrel. No type of support for the squad machineguns (M249, M240, etc.). Though a vastly different game, I love Day of Defeat for its allowing the player, as a machinegunner, to use his weapon more effectively by deploying the machineguns bipod. For all its "realism", why was this important feature left out.
Rating: Summary: Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Review: While i enjoyed the multiplayer of Rainbow Six i hated the single player which was nearly impossible due to lack of save games. Ghost Recon has full save games. Good and bad. Good, you can save anywhere. Bad, makes the game quite linear. The gameplay is amazing with excellent level design, graphics and sound effects. Ghost Recon is a very realistic game. You can only carry two weapons and a single gun shot can kill you or wound you badly. The biggest problem is that the main menu is at low resolution and the movies do not play sometimes. When i played at 640x480 i can view the movie cutsence but at higer resolution i don't sometimes. I did not have anyother problems beside that. Ghost Recon is a must if you like stealth shooters.
Rating: Summary: BEST GAME I'VE EVER PLAYED!!!!!!! Review: This game has the best of everything. Graphics, gameplay, etc. What I like best is how realistic everything is from night vision to the missions.
