Summary: Difficult to Master
Review: One think I like about this game is "Cheap tricks donot work". In the previous versions you could do somethings which would fetch you goals especially taking a corner. Here the AI adjusts itself to your play. Also you can adjust your attacking and defensive strategy. For example you can choose your defensive strategy as "Contain" or "Pressure" etc.

And one good thing is lobs are more rewarding than passes which I think is true when compared to real life soccer.

I have not perfected the running streaks yet but I think a good player is who would be able to pass well to his player seeing the streak.

I would say graphis are better. The game loads faster. Lots of leagues to play. The teams are also up to date. I love teh Real Madrid team. I think its the strongest with Zidane , etc. But I dont know how to use the special moves. Its given as E but That will not get you goals.

Good passing will help. Lob the ball more often.

The commentary is also better. You would initially get frustrated getting adjusted to passing but it would pay off later.
Also guys hit out very frequesntly which is true. The player to field size ratio is realistic now which was abig flaw earlier.

Overall I would recommend it to soccer lovers. If you want just a game to play go for something else.
I love soccer and so I play this a,lot.

Summary: a very good game but the training is missing
Review: FIFA 2002 is a great game for those who like to have control on their game. but if you like the computer to decide by itself what the power of the kicks or passes would be, you probably wouldn't like this game. you'd get much more control than in the "older" games like FIFA 2001 and all the FIFA that came before it. one of the things i really like is that you can finally score goals from outside the 16 meters line. one of the things I don't like as much is that there's no training mode, and it's more difficult to aim well in free kicks because there aren't many options to change the direction of the ball.

Summary: THE WORST OF ALL FIFA'S!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Review: Impossible to play in "professional" and boring in "amateur". I haven't even tried to play in "world class". Why can't they bring back good FIFA's, like the 98 one. As usual, no stadium select, plus like 120 bugs. I hope this reviews help EA managers to change everything, specially GAMEPLAY.

Summary: After playing for a coupe of months!
Review: I still don't regret having bought this game...I keep playing and playing. I still like the new passing and shooting, and the overall ball interaction...much more realistic. The only downfall sI have found were as follows: shooting flanks (its hard to tell which direction you are shooting in...it might point 90degrees but actually shoots 120...shooting anywhere but infront of goal; AI in Pro mode...computer opponents AI much to perfect...but what makes it worse is taht yoru own players start being dumb and not playing as intelligently and aggressive as in amateur...please AE create a patch for that. Those would be the biggest problems I have found besides the increased difficulty of shot aiming in general. Other than that almost everything is a step up in a new direction. If teh above mentioned points could be fixed this could be come an increadible game.

Summary: Very Good...if you can get it to install properly
Review: I'm fortunate to have several PCs at my disposal. The software did not install properly on my primary machine. I had problems with DirectX 7 drivers....I got the latest DirectX 8.1 from Microsoft, but that didn't help either. I finally got it installed on my other PC and wow! I really like it. The graphics and play action are very good. I'm still getting used to the controls, but I like what I see so far. The game engine itself leaves a lot to desire though...try having 2 teams play each other in CPU mode. There are lots of no-nos that take place...granted it's computer simulation, but I think there is plenty of room for improvements there!

Summary: After all it is addictive
Review: Year after year EA releases a FIFA game. Even some year it releases a special version in honor of an important upcoming tournament. This 2002 comes the World Cup and the EA team has included the Qualifying mode to that event. From 54 international teams to 208 in this new version. Now you have the chance of defendinf your national team and qualifying them to the Japan/Korea Wolrd Cup. It also includes a special patch for when the New EA Sports 2002 World Cup comes out now in Spring. Apart from the whole Wolrd Cup event you can also play over 15 international leagues. Why not play a derby between Madrid and Barça or try to win Englands F.A. Cup. With FIFA 2002 you can.
Over 25 world stadiums where you can play the matches. Also with all new Gorillaz music. And if you win the challenge of qualifying for the WC you will be able to play a preview on FIFA 2002 Football. The graphics as usual are stunning. Realistic moves and not Robots playing soccer. All these features make FIFA 2002 the best available soccer game for your PC or PSX or PS2 or whatever system you own. A must buy game.

Summary: Fall from Grace
Review: Why can't we finally get a defintive FIFA game? This game is loaded with problems.

1. Teams...
Yeah, I know that there are hundreds of club teams, but in "1998 Road to the World Cup," EA sports managed to include EVERY team in the qualifying rounds. They even had the names of all they players! You could even play Puerto Rico vs. Domincan Republic. Now, the African and Oceania groups are AWOL, and many players names are represented by numbers.

2. Stadiums...
Only five! In "1998," there was stadiums from all over the world with intro videos to the country. Match-ups between smaller teams had smaller crowds. It was much more realistic to use the "Trinidad & Tobago" stadium when using smaller clubs. I just can't play MLS games in "2002" in front of 80,000 fans. It just doesn't seem believable. Plus, you don't have a consistent stadium for your "home" club games.

3. AI
Unfair and unrealistic. You have a choice: you can either blow away competition at the "Amateur" level, or you can lose 1-0 moral victories in which your team manages 2 shots on goal. I'm afraid to try the "World Class." The computer anticipates all of your passes, wins 90% of the air balls, and makes it generally impossible for you to get any offensive flow.

4. Gameplay
Ohh, this burns me. A lot of the skill moves in the past apparently are not available. For example, you can no longer dive to draw fouls. Everytime the computer falls after a sliding tackle is a foul. It's so irritating. The players only shoot with one foot.

Yes, there are improvements, but in some ways this game feels like a step backward. With the World Cup in the near future, we deserved something better.

Don't believe the hype. Don't waste your money.

Summary: bad release
Review: I haven't actually played this game! I bought it, installed it on my laptop (compaq presario 1700, windows me) and I can't run it, I get a weird error. So I contact customer support who tell me to check my device drivers, which I do, and still the same problem. They tell me they can't help me, because it's a laptop. I decide to install the game on my work pc running windows2000professional, and I get a different error! Well, that was not much fun. I think I will get fifa2001 as it gets much better reviews here than this version anyway--I just wish I read these reviews before buying the game.
