Summary: Another Satisfied Customer
Review: What can I say that hasn't all ready been said? This game is excellent! Replay value is off the charts.

Summary: Fun, but you still need to eat and sleep!
Review: I made the mistake of getting Civilization II this past weekend and sadly, spent nearly 12 hours over the last two days playing it. The game is very addictive as you nurture your people from a band of settlers to a complex empire sprawling across many cities. Game-play is simple but it takes a while to figure all the options and what to click on. I haven't gotten too deep yet but I can tell you it's a lot of fun, more complicated than Sim 2000 but less demanding (time-wise) than Command and Conquer. The game is turn-based so you can take your time. A definite buy and worth every penny!

Summary: Graphics [stink] and a Confusing Game
Review: This game really does [stink].... I've tried on easy and used the cheat menu and still lost. It's confusing what to do and the graphics make it more confusing. If you want to get this game you better be a rocket scientest to figure out it's graphics and the way of trade. You have to get in war to get land and hope the people will be happy with you by the time your finished, controls [stink], don't use your mouse use your up down left right on the keyboard to move your people, the mouse just skrews up everything. And even if you try everything you can either you lose or you have to use cheats and still your called "Worthless" at the end, a bad game to play. With it's simple plan they could get the graphics at least good as the sims, and they could have made the skills easier to understand, it's all confusing to me.

Summary: I can't sleep
Review: This game kept me up until 1:00am last night. It is so much fun building an army and attacking the neighbor countries/Cities. The price is dirt cheap for this gaming fun. The older games have to be made so much better because they can't woo you with fancy graphics. This game is FUN! Amazon is the only place I could find this game Ver. II, so you'd better buy it now before it's gone here too.

Summary: You Get What You Paid For
Review: Encouraged by the rave reviews, I bought this game but ended up tossing it into the garbage after 6 hours of play. Aside from the horrible 1996 graphics, there is dead boring game play on a buggy interface.

You spend hours building cities that lack character and armies symbolized by one awful figure. Dragging your people around the map is a real challenge because you can only move them a tiny bit each turn, while getting them onto ships is even more frustrating due to the awkward tile design that governs movements on the map. Historical value is 0, as ancient Egyptians build cities named Melbourne and Helsinki and the American Empire begins with Abe Lincoln in 600 B.C.

Do yourself a favor and grab a copy of Age of Kings or even better, Combat Mission--if you like WWII themes--and you won't be disappointed. They do cost more, but you get what you paid for.

Summary: Great Game
Review: I was looking for something entertaining with a historical perspective and somewhat detailed. This is it. My only regret is that I can't play it but about 2 hours a day. I'm hooked. It has taken a little while to learn the rules for play and understand how everything works, but I'm getting the feel and absolutely love it.

Summary: Great Value and great fun!
Review: I was considering buying Civilization III for my 11 year old son for Christmas. When I read the system requirements I realized the game would not work on my computer. (My computer is 5 years old) So I decided to take a chance on Civilization II.
The game loaded and works perfectly on our computer. My son, who enjoys history, figured out how to operate the game quickly and has spent many hours deeply involved in managing his "civilization". For roughly [price]ncluding shipping and handling, this game is a great value!

Summary: it's what time???
Review: This is one for the coolest turn based strategy games I have played. I love that fact that if you do well the people will love you; they will rejoice and praise you for all your good deeds. This is such a well thought out and very detailed strategy game.
You start out with nothing and a city; from there you begin to build your empire from the ground up headed for world domination. You can build relationships with other nations or destroy everyone. Trading with other nations and your overall foreign policy if very important to survive and become a world power. This is definitely one of those games where if you don't keep an eye on the clock you will literally lose hours of your life because it is very easy to sit and play this game and 4 hours later you are left wondering where the time went. For the price this game is a steel, well worth the price, don't miss out on this one!

Summary: Get the best strategy game ever at the best price...
Review: Warning: If you buy this game you will lose sleep, you will annoy your girlfriend, you will blow off important work, you will find yourself drooling and staring at your computer screen at 5 a.m. in a stupor. It's that good.

At this price, how could you possibly lose?

(BTW, why pay $... on CIV III when you can play this now and in two years buy CIV III for ten smackers? That way, you'll have something to look forward too..)

Another great advantage of this game is you don't need a lot of computing power to play it, so it's perfect for keeping older computers useful.

Enjoy!

Summary: It was so addictive and awesome, I had to give it away
Review: I LOVE this game. I could play it for months and I don't play too many computer games. This game, however, challenges in ways that other games do not and continually forces you to adapt your strategy. It is pretty realistic (although much more so at the earlier levels than the more advanced ones since the computer cheats so much more on the upper levels). It offers you countless numbers of different scenarios to play on. One word though, your success in any given game is greatly influenced by the peice of terrain you are assigned to.

There are some bugs...the world isn't really round, you have to personnally escort ships over some parts of the ocean or else they will take off in the opposite direction; sometimes planes move at the start of turns when you don't want them to, which results in your plane running out of gas and your losing it; and a few other minor ones. But all in all it is pretty well engineered.

Warning: It is totally addictive and once you start playing it is hard to stop. I gave mine away so that I could get some actual work done!
