Summary: Little Improvement.
Review: I have played both the original SWAT 3 and the Elite edition. The only real improvement are the new maps they provide. The new maps are great when you first play, but then since you know the area, you can get through it O.K. There are modifications you can get by downloading them. There is a multiplayer feature in which I have not gotten through yet, but it is still a good game to play. You don't need the original SWAT 3 to play. All the missions are still here in the Elite edition. IF you already have the Original SWAT 3 don't bother getting this. Only get this if you want the new missions and/or the multi-player features.

Summary: great game
Review: I used to hold Rainbow 6 and the likes as among the best game of its genre till Swat 3 Elite Edition came out. At last a game that is realistic, where you actually try to arrest bad guys instead of lodging a bullet or two right between their ears. The controls are easy to use, the sound and picture are of really great quality plus the missions are well done. What else could we ask from a game? Buy it now and you won't regret it. Roger that!

Summary: Bad ratings???
Review: I was shocked to read bad ratings about this game. It's the closest that one could ever get to being in a real-life situation. Frankly, I really loved it. Now if only Sierra could design a game with the concept of Force Recon or Delta Force in the same game engine then I wouldn't have to consider signing up in the corps.

Summary: Great game!
Review: I'm one of those players who stopped playing Unreal Tournament and started looking for something better. See, I got bored with UT and Q3 because all you had to do is aim a few rockets and splash the wall with fire [at]people. So it required very little skill just the most ammo to win.

SWAT 3 is not like that at all! This game is worth the money for single player, but I found most fun by playing online! Setup a ..match or a team ..match, and carefully move around looking for the bad (or good) guys.. One shot ..can take your enemy down... or a few shots..! There is no rocket launcher, so you will have to aim and have skill to win - so if you like winning with no skill, stick to Quake or UT for the most part.

My only complaint about this game is that you have to play on Sierra's network. For the most part it is decent, but I'd like to set my own server up for it...

Buy it, you won't be dissapointed... unless you are expecting Quake with police uniforms.

Summary: Great Idea-Flawed Game
Review: If you're looking, as I was, for a Counterstrike substitute, keep looking. Ultimately what kills this game is playability. The game play is not engaging. Graphics are lacking a bit--look at the way that everything LOOKS like a flat surface with a texture layed on it. Ultimately thats not a big complaint though, it looks passable. It's just not that fun.

Summary: This game is as close to reallity as you can get!!!
Review: If you're not impressed with games like James Bond with infinante guns and ammo or Doom with health charge ups and the such, this game is definetely for you.

For once you actually arrest people and don't blow their heads off. The game is unique in the fact that you don't earn points but rather loose points for killing. You can yell at people to put their hands up and they may well oblige and you can hand cuff them. If they don't oblige you don't stampede in with your M16 but rather throw in a gas grenade or shoot them with a bean bag.

I'm not sure why the game has an 'M' rating. The gore is minimal, and the goal is to avoid killing. The game is no worse than Goldeneye for the 64 in terms of violence and gore but is alot better in the reality scale.

The graphics are amazingly realistic, the missions are original, and the play control, though it takes a little getting used to, works very well.

The game is great and I would encourage you to bye it, despite its 'mature' rating.

Summary: Hmmm.....
Review: It's a great game...but steep system requirements, if you want the game to look it's best that is. BUT, it is a great FPS/counter-terrorism simulation. You don't just cap everything in sight, you sneak, you look, you THINK! Although some of the mission goals are vague, it's all good. I only recommend this game to fans of Rainbow Six & Rogue Spear. You Unreal Tournament & Quake 3 players out there might find this game slow & tedious...

Summary: A good solid FPS
Review: Lots of people want those games where you just shoot everything in sight. Some people like teamwork and strategy. SWAT 3 delivers both in a good form. It comes from a more realistic perspective, no health and ammo powerups around the corner guys! It is fairly flexible in single player mode, with 7 different weapons to choose from. You can also get the low down on all of your other gear too! Single player is more teamwork than shoot 'em up. However in multiplayer you can play deathmatches(of course!). Also you can choose from over 50 weapons in multiplayer. The only things wrong with SWAT are: 1. The storyline in single player isn't detailed enough for me. I might be picky though! :) 2. In multiplayer Co-op, after you finish a mission, you are taken back to the main lobby. If you want to do the next mission with the same guys, you gotta set the game up all over again! 3. No game controller support!! ( I have the Gravis Eliminator, and it comes with software you can use so you can use it)

Overall a very good game, but these small problems made me give it a 4.

Oh by the way, my uncle is in SWAT. And he is on the cover too! (No kidding!)
