Summary: Absolutely riveting.
Review: Although it starts out looking like something from Colecovision, with half an hour's patience things start to really cook. Before you know it, you're battling a horde of demons in a journey through multiples planes of existence, and battling to stave off Armageddon.

Gameplay is first-rate, the puzzles ranging from challenging to brain-wracking. And I guarantee you WILL be frightened at times by this game.

Truly the most amazing RPG ever produced, bar none.

Summary: Amazing gameplay and story--especially for its time!
Review: Basic premise: your dad has died, and you have received a mysterious package that leads you to his old house, to try and solve the mystery of his passing. The house is, as the title implies, haunted--but there's much more to it than that. Prophecy has seized your character, and he must walk a path that will determine whether good or evil will hold sway over the world for the next thousand years...

I had heard about this amazing game for awhile before I was able to acquire a copy. Boy, was it worth the wait! In some ways, it reminds me of an early Half-Life--it has elements of being a first-person-shooter, with cut scenes (done via full motion video) that tell a compelling story. While a major part of the gameplay revolves around fighting enemies, you must also collect clues and solve puzzles to go on. So, there's some violence in the game, but its not really the focus, and its definitely not over the top.

The game came out a few years ago, so the graphics aren't top-of-the line these days--but they're still good. And the video clips have their share of bad acting and graininess--but they also have some amazing moments that you'll want to replay. So, be grateful you can find this game without bidding on an auction site, and buy it now!

Summary: Rather Boring
Review: I bought this game because I like strategy/adventure games played in the first person. I was dissapointed however because the nature of it is rather violent, requiring use of guns/knives or other weapons to advance through the game. In addition, if your character gets killed (happens rather easily until you learn the rules) you need to start over from the beginning. I want very impressed.

Summary: A classic in every sense.
Review: This game is from 1996, and was released in the US in 1997. It is basically a first person shooter, but has a compelling story that drives it. There are video cut-scenes which for the first time I can remember do not get in the way, and greatly enhance the atmosphere. And speaking of atmosphere, this game has it in spades. The first time I started it up, I was immediately struck by the spooky setting. I was in a room in a mansion with thunder and lightning outside. It was night, and looking out the window of the room I was in, the trees and shrubs were blowing in the wind. You begin by exploring the house. There is action in the game, but not at every turn, which I liked, since it added to the suspense. The game is made by the same people that did "Normality", and it uses an enhanced version of the Normality 3D engine. This technology is old, to be sure. It doesn't use a 3D accelerator, but the developers used the engine to its utmost, creating completely immersive and beautiful settings with it. This is one of the scariest games I have ever played. I recently dug it out again and installed it on one of my newer computers. I have tried it with both Win 95 and 98 and it runs great in either. Considering that I had never heard of it before, I was greatly impressed by the quality of this game. A lot of time and effort obviously went into this. And the credits in the wonderful manual show a lot of people were involved in its creation. Great use of mood, setting, sound, music, and actors. Highly recommended. This is not a twitch shooter. It's more like an FPS crossed with an adventure game, since you must figure things out. But solutions are logical. If you can score a copy, do it!

Summary: Fantastic Game
Review: This is a relatively old game. Those looking for the latest and greatest in video games look elsewhere. However, if you want to go back and try a great game from the past I urge to you try Realms of the Haunting. This is a horror game played from the First-Person perspective. ROTH is more of an adventure game than a mindless first-person shooter. It has a strong story and interesting, well done live action cut scenes with decent actors. This games continually scared the pants off me. Great stuff.

Summary: Oldy Goldy 5 stars
Review: This is my favorite first person style RPG that I have ever played. This game has a great story, great cut scenes, combinations of mythlodogy with scifi, and more. I keep hoping that they will come out Part II.
