Summary: A good fps
Review: This game turned out better than I thought it would. A real fun straight forward shooter. The story was easy to follow even though your objectives, once given, couldn't be seen again. The sound and music was great. The GeoMod engine, in my opinion, didn't add that much to the game.

On my almost antiquated computer (450mhz,geforce2,penII,256mb ram), I had no trouble with the game at all. It looked great.

Highly recommended for the FPS fan

Summary: Great game
Review: If you like 1st person shooters that are fast paced you'll love this game. It gets a little hard in places so start out in the easiest mode first. Good luck

Summary: Red Wha????
Review: Tierd graphics, boring plot and recycled story line. This aims high and sinks low. The game just blows.

Summary: Win2k Users Beware!
Review: Before I get flammed, I should say that I played this game on Win98 first and was blown away. Very cool graphics, gameplay is nice too. But my main problem with the game is that it does not support Win2k or WinXP. How stupid is that? Especially in light of the fact that it was released in September right before WinXP was released. Apparently, the company (THQ) is not concerned about the market of new computer buyers. Which most new computers will be pre-loaded with. I feel that I must warn any gamer thinking they can buy this game and make it run on Win2k or WinXP. If you go to the THQ forum and look at the number of post about this, you will see that it is a major problem. You will see numerous posts of how people have had to tweak there machine settings all different ways just to get the game to run for an hour or so before it crashes. No one should have to modify their machine settings to such an extent to get any game to run! I strongly warn any gamer with Win2k or Xp to not buy this game! Win98 and Win95 users have fun, Win2k and WinXP users play with something else like Unreal Tournament, which is now 2 years old but runs on Win2K. If anyone cares, I am running a 667 Pentium III, 256 MEG of RAM with a VisionTek GeForce 3 video card and SoundBlaster Live X-Gamer sound card.

Summary: a Great graphical FPS which rivals all of it's predecessors
Review: Red Faction... well... the plot is sort of simple, but nice, doesn't beat Half-Life in that area though, the graphics are awesome and that blowing holes in the wall is cool, even though you don't have to do that all that much, as the plot doesn't require it.
The Sound is enjoyable, both the music and the effects.
These features are all quite good, and the multiplayer feature is very good.. fast loads and such, but... i would have liked to be able to interact more with people, not this linear plot where you get no chance whatsoever to interact, you're just strolling through the game at maximum speed, killing, picking up ammo, restoring health.. killing etc. But as i said it has most of the elements to make a great game, which is what Red Faction is ...

I would have given it a 4 and a half star but....

Summary: great game
Review: I am a big fan of FPS games and have nearly all that are available for the PC. Red Faction has great graphics and fast gameplay. My only complaint is the fact that some of the levels are almost impossible to beat, even at the easy level. Without the cheat codes I would have never made it through the final few missions. Overall I enjoyed the game. I would like to see new mods released for it.

Summary: Cool-Cool
Review: This is a pretty good game, i still dont think that the single player is as good as Half-life was but its fun. It has some very cool features, such as being able to holster your gun, blow up walls and go through them and being able to pick up and hide bodies. I think a good way to describe this game is a cross between Deus Ex and Half-life. I think the MP could have been better but this game is good for the money.

Summary: Much Better on Playstation
Review: Sure, the multiplayer is a million times better in the PC version than in the PS2, but like many other games that have made the switch from PC to console, or consols to PC, Red Faction PC has a lot of flaws that the PS2 version doesn't.

First, and most importantly, do not get this game if you have a laptop computer! that is unless you can figure out an easy way to configure the controls. I've been trying all day to get something I am comfortable with, and it just isn't working. I may just have to breakdown and put the game on my family computer instead... and I really didn't want to have to do that.

Second, the Geo Mod is a lot slower than the PS2 Geo Mod, sometimes you have to sit and look at a wall for a second or two before the hole decides to show up.

The final negative I have to groan about is the map generator. I thought I'd be able to make something fairly easily, like I do with TimeSplitters, but I don't understand this mapmaker one bit.
It's confusing, complicated, and not very well documented.

That is about all there is that is really bad about this system, but that first one really bugs me, since the whole reason I bought the game was so that I could take my laptop over to a friend's house and we could hook 5 or 6 computers up and play... but the controls are just too weird.

Now for the good stuff:

More characters! About twice as many characters as in the PS2 version.

More levels. Tons of levels, plus if custom levels if I can ever figure out how to use the map generator.

I say, if you have a desktop computer, or if you don't have a PS2, go ahead and get this game, because it is an excelent First Person Shooter. But if all you have is a laptop, or you don't really plan on doing too much multi-player with more than one other person, stick with the PS2.
