Summary: Get Real...
Review: The everquest games are absolutly amazing. I have recommended them to all my friends, and most of them play now. I have played this game for 2 years...and guess what? I still go out with my friends...This game doesnt sap the life out of you unless you let it. Sure, there are a few small problems in the game, but what game doesnt? All in all, Everquest is possibly the best investment in a game you can make.

Summary: Worth every penny
Review: Everquest is a bane on society. It takes all our money, all our time, and ruins many social lives and relationships. But it is worth every penny you pay for it. This is one of the BEST games I have ever played. No, it doesnt have the best graphics. But that isnt what makes it so good. Its the player interaction. Its knowing when you see a naked barbarian warrior run by that he is really controlled by another living human being. If you have the time and the money and dont mind losing sleep, then this is a great investment.

Summary: Its what you make of it
Review: People who become wildly addicted to the game, would become addicted to anything that captured their interest. Everquest just happens to be their drug of choice. One can't blame the game.

I work full time, but can but put in a few hours a day during weekdays (I'd be watching TV otherwise) and invest full days during weekends if I have to. This, admittedly, is hard-core. But to fully enjoy some of the game's best features, this is sometimes necessary. I'm young, why not?

As for the harsh criticism that this game is nothing but leveling up, that's like dismissing life as just going to school. That is too limited a view. The point of leveling is so you can go questing for items and exploring, and to interact with people. Just like using what you learn in school to make something of yourself. That is the point. That is what makes it worthwhile.

Summary: EQ
Review: I had never played a "role playing" game untill about 2 years ago when some friends at work discovered Everquest. I would recommend this to almost anyone. Yes its addictive, time comsuming, and at times the most agravating game you'll ever play, but when you hear the "Ding" to level 60 with your first character it is such a great feeling (fellow eq'rs know what I mean). I even purchaced a second account. With a level 60 paladin, 57 necro, and 38 magican there are still places in this game I have not been. Buy it you wont be dissapointed once you get thru the first few levels.

Summary: Too Many Kids...
Review: Although the gameplay is pretty decent, I dont recommend this game whatsoever. The addiction is too hard to break, and you will lose all contact with the real world if you play. I wasted 2yrs playing this game. As for my title, it speaks for itself. 80% of the game are aged 15 and under. This makes for having to deal with alot of underage troublemakers, and the problem multiplies 10 fold during summer/any school vacations. I finally broke the addiction and am really looking foward to DaoC.

Summary: Hmm..
Review: I think this is going to be great, finally a change in the graphics on this game. Also, another continent to explore, and see the cool new designs to the world. And most importantly.. a new part of the vast, contineous, extradinary Everquest story. So far, Verants additions have been VERY satisfying.
And about the people who keep writing bad reviews because they get addicted:..

Hehe.. I keep reading reviews of people completely dissing the game because they can't handle what it does to their social lives. All multiplayer games are like this, they're made for addictions, and to get their users to play at all hours. Those who cannot handle this game have a personal issue, not everyone treats the game like alcohol or drugs, and gets addicted to it and ruin their lives. I myself balance playing sports, keeping grades up, and playing Everquest (2 level 50s, and one 30).

Summary: EQ: Shadows of Luclin by Verant Interactive
Review: The following features are confirmed as of today 9/6/01:

* New Race...............Vah Shir
* New Class..............Beastlord
* New Graphics Engine....Uses "occlusion culling" technology similar to that of 1st person shooters to only render the polygons that are viewable. In other words, not all the polygons for that zone and that clipping distance are rendered. This will improve performance phenomenally. Of course, with the addition of the engine and since it is so efficient, they did bump up the polygon count, so don't discount the need to upgrade your computer yet.
* New Features...........Players will be able to purchase mounts or more specifically horses. The price will be extremely high, but this is a definite feature. There will be many shapes, sizes, colors to choose from. Also, new spells and skills will be added to the game as well as many new zones and creatures.

Now on to the opinionated part of my review. I have played EverQuest since beta 4 (2 months prior to its release). I own both expansions and have played them as well (they merely add on to the existing world). This game is extremely addictive and fun. If you enjoy RPGs and the company of other real people, then you will enjoy this game. You will need at least the original Everquest in order to play Shadows of Luclin, but you need not buy the other two expansions. If you can help it, I would recommend not getting started in EQ. I am personally trying to quit playing the game. This has run similar to quitting smoking with me. I have been slowly weaning myself off of EQ for the past 6 months and I see a possible 6 more months on the way to get over this game (especially with such a spectacular expansion being released). I never thought I could enjoy something so much that I am now beginning to despise, but this is the game that defied those odds. It also helps that it is riding high on being the first game of its genre. Nevertheless, people are being honest when they say it is extremely addictive. I got my close friends to join me playing EQ and the hardest part about leaving the world of Norrath behind is that those same friends are going to continue to play the game even after I leave. They seldom do anything else nor will they in the near future. Gone are the days of real life and hanging out with friends and talking about anything other than EQ. Well, I hope that gives you a feel for the game and I hope you enjoy it if you get involved. Be well and safe.

Summary: the best relationship ive ever had
Review: i have a girl that im crazy about and she lives on the other side of the world. we meet online and play together and it brings us closer to each other. I don't recommend getting this game if your significant other doesn't play. But if they do, well, it can be a very interesting experience! Where else can you get drunk and not get a hang over? wouldn't it be great if we solved all of our world problems on everquest? Alot of my friends from all over the world, my relatives, and people i have known since school play on the same server. It has strengthened alot of my relationships, but I don't neglect the ones that dont play either. Shadows of luclin needs no review. Its going to be a big hit. Something that me and my girl can adventure together without ever bickering or fighting.

Summary: One of the greatest online games this or any year
Review: I believe this game to be one of the best expansions for one of the greatest on-line games. I mean 500,000 people can't be wromg so if you don't have Everquest I suggest you go get it buy the expansions and find out just what I mean.

Summary: No Need To Review
Review: It will be great.

Just be aware that what most of these reviewers say is true. The game is immersive. The game is fun. The game requires that you take a long time to do everything, but in a way it's like watching a really good 3 hour movie - you don't mind the time spent away.

[....]

But if you're like me, with your head in the clouds, realizing this life is just a chapter in many lives, and to enjoy yourself along the way... provided you can still pay the bills and require no real life friends... go for it. The game rocks.

This upgraded expansion will take it to the next level.
